I asked for a coffee shop that was good for working and the all knowing Yelp brought me here. Three hours later, after a double espresso and a bunch of wifi, I was done and off to explore some of Hutchinson. Funky, eclectic and almost random interior. Why would anyone go to the Green Siren people when there's this awesomeness. I had a great coffee and enjoyed a comfortable spot. This was absolutely five stars. I needed to stop here to knock out some work on vacation. Great seating, great wifi, and great drinks. The blueberry muffins were dense and not my favorite, but everything else was perfect. It wasn't very loud and the staff was very friendly and knowledgable. I will be back! read more

Just stopped in at the Metro for a coffee. I had Emily and Natalya as my baristas today. They were so upbeat and kind! They helped recommend me a drink, and I felt really cared for as a customer. I'm quite picky about my coffee, and they took the time to ensure that it was how I had wanted, while also giving the other customers in there, their attention. Such a nice coffee shop!! We stayed the night in Hutchinson and got coffee around 8am here. It was a nice shop with indoor and outdoor seating available, very clean, masks are asked for when ordering and staff wore them which was appreciated by us! The staff were just so friendly and sweet! 5/5 :) They had many coffee options and some baked goods. We ordered: (iced drinks are made with cold brew but can be made with espresso which is unique). Iced vanilla latte: 4/5 (sweet and decent! But us youngest people that gave 4s are not as strong of coffee drinkers as the older folks) Almond milk iced vanilla latte made with espresso: 3/5 (even with espresso a tad weak but we are strong coffee drinkers) Iced latte: (cold brew is weaker than espresso and she wishes she got espresso haha) 3/5 Hot Cappuccino: 3/5 (asked for dry and they made it too latte like, not very strong) Hot latte: 4/5 Iced lemon blueberry loaf: 4/5 tasty and moist loaf slice Pineapple and coconut muffin: 3/5 (all of it was one texture and flavor profile. I only gave this one star because there were no less. I do not do business with this establishment because: I asked them to do "cuppa" as there is real need in our community. I offered to buy the first $100 of $5 cuppa coupons. They refused to participate, too busy, too complicated, too hard to keep track of. The young man stopped one sentence short of saying they did not want "those people" in there. I went to Starbucks, 1/2 block away, bought $100 worth of $5 coupons which we agreed upon for a price of a small Americana. One day a week the rest of that Summer, I sat on a bench diagonal from Metropolitan and gave out coupons. I have told and will continue to tell this story as a person who believes we are no better than the least of us, a Christian, and a person who considers themselves fortunate in life. read more

Very clean with tables set up around the stove. You can even sit outside. Plenty of parking and the service was great. We both had two different frozen drinks with alternative milk. Both came out great. They have an area which people can sing or play. If i was local, I would be here quite often. There is an area where kids can play or read. Only giving a 1 because of the lounge. Me and my friend were planning to do schoolwork and get a snack here, we got Starbucks prior. The man at the front told us we couldn't have our drinks inside, we said okay and went to sit outside, not thinking it was a problem. The lady owner came up to us and started yelling, swinging her hands around, and pushing the chair to the table in causing it to make a noise. When we tried to ask where the problem was she got angry and kept storming away and walking back more aggressively. We tried to explain that we were planning on getting food from metro, because Starbucks had a sale, she just continued to yell at us saying she pays $3500 to rent the building and that Starbucks isn't part of that faculty. We have been in there multiple times before with drinks, or other food, they have never had a problem with it. We didn't think bringing coffee from a different company would cause a problem and we would have been fine with leaving if she would have asked us nicely, but she was rude, aggressive, and very unprofessional. Love the building and the set up but the owner could use better customer service. Honestly could not have a worse experience. read more

We like coffee, and we like to travel. So we tend to seek out coffee houses in our travels. We visited Metropolitan on 05/23/2015, a cold rainy Saturday. Upon entering you'll find an inviting atmosphere of comfy chairs and small tables. The coffee is top tier and makes the sludge served in that well known chain store pale in comparison. The staff is friendly and inviting, and had our drink order made and served in no time. We settled into a couple of chairs next to the window and enjoyed our americanos, with a scone and a lemon bar. Sipping the hot java and watching the rain and the world go by as the chill was slowly chased from our bones. Where was this place when I lived in Hutch?? Metropolitan is a lovely little shop that and much more fun than your run-of-the-mill Starbucks. Art on the walls, funky decorations, books and board games, free wifi...I could have hung out here all day. Love love this place. Baristas are chill and quick. There are all the extras you want in a traditional coffee house (old-school scrabble, anyone?) including live music and even dancing lessons of various types. I love this coffee shop! They have a homey atmosphere with traditional cafe tables and plush easy chairs. Local artists exhibit their work on the walls, and perform live on some days. They have a wall of board games that are free to use if you come with a group of friends, or bookshelves full of a variety of books and magazines to read and relax. I take my computer and use the free internet to work on homework. Oh, and did I mention great coffee too? We went there this afternoon and *loved* it! We each ordered the pumpkin white mocha and a piece of carrot cake (they bake all desserts on site). Delicious! Both the guy who took our order and the barista (the latter is the owner's son) were SUPER-nice and we really enjoyed talking to them.
