I was looking for a new mattress and to my surprise they had the perfect hybrid for me. Jeff was so pleasant and helpful. Informative but not pushy. I purchased the mattress and waited a few weeks for delivery. The delivery person was so helpful. Since my mattress was 14" I needed a thinner box spring. He said he'd be back with the correct one the next day and I was grateful but even more so when he returned the same day with the perfect one. I'm SO happy with my purchase! I needed a couch, but initially avoided checking out Metropolitan Design as I visualized it would be a high priced boutique, and I'd have to make some excuse to dart out of there after checking out the prices, but I was really pleasantly surprised that I could get the couch I wanted, with the fabric of my choice (with an almost overwhelming number of options) for a super reasonable price. It was built (locally, here in LA), using an upgraded fabric choice and delivered, tax included for a tad over $1000. Jeff was a pleasure to work with--just enough advice without being overly opinionated. The couch was finished within the window he'd promised, and then when the city shut down for Covid 19, we thought it would be delayed for months, but as soon as it was reasonably safe for a someone to make the delivery, Jeff contacted me again to set that up, and the delivery was done efficiently, using social distancing. I went with my fiancé here to buy an oversized armchair for our living room. He purchased his sofa here and likes their modern mix of furniture. I went to more or less to guide him. He was buying the piece so I tried not to hijack the visit too much The staff there was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful without being too pushy, which is really nice. The collection of pieces there ranged from nice to well... bizarre. We ended up buying a piece that was a bit over budget but it's gorgeous. We're super happy with the service we got when we were there and with the piece- once it finally arrived. The only tarnish that caused this review to go from a 4/5 to a 3 was the false expectation the store set with us for delivery and the hounding we had to do to get information. We were promised our chair within 2-3 weeks and it took well over a month and a half to get the piece. While I understand that delays happen, the team was not proactive in their communication approach, which is always disappointing when you've spent so much on a piece. read more

Definitely a furniture store you should check out if you live in the Long Beach area. Located downtown this place opened up to supply furniture for the condo/loft boom of downtown Long Beach (which, might I had, has since cratered). I purchased a custom couch from this place 3 years ago and have had no complaints. Pretty reasonably priced ($1700) for a massive, partially goose-down filled sectional. I was looking at similarly priced furniture from Wickes (rest their soul) -- for the same price w/o the goose-down fill. Trust me, the goose-down fill is the way to go. So comfortable..... It seems like there is some concern about the service. To me, that is what I like about this place: the service isn't like Levitz or Wickes (which, I might add, like the LB real estate market, has cratered as well). Do you really want to go into a furniture store and get the feel of a car dealership (wanna buy ? let me show you this? this is a great deal....yak yak yak)? Huge star for the chill salespeople who are willing to help. I'd say the furniture in this place is a cross between Plummers and Room and Board, but without the sticker shock. Don't get me wrong, I love the stuff at Plummers and R&B, but if you're in the market for furniture, recommendation to stop by this place and give it a look. All the stuff in here doesn't have that lame-Wickes style look (sorry Wickes fans), but that hipper/sleeker/cooler Plummers/Crate and Barrel look. Bottom line, if you're looking for furniture to fill that recently purchased bank-owned home in Long Beach, check this place out. read more

My friend and I were in just browsing and a young gal, I believe it was neya, made it a pretty wonderful experience with helping us look around and explain the furniture we were looking at. All the while, not making it feel like a usual, "hurry up and buy this," experience as I would usually expect at most avenues when it comes to making large purchases. I stopped by this store a couple of times because a friend recommended it to me. The first visit, I was not even acknowledged when I entered the store. It was not because the staff was busy, but they just did not even bother to say hello as I walked around the store. I always try to give people another opportunity to redeem themselves, but my second visit was just as bad. Thus, I stopped by in the early afternoon. There were no customers in the store and the salesperson (male, tall, slim build, salt and pepper long hair) was a sitting at his desk. This time, I was greeted and asked was I was looking for. I advised the salesperson that I was looking for four different pieces of furniture (side tables, console table, tv console, and book shelf) in the mid century modern style. Instead showing me some pieces on their site, he simply directed me to scan the QR code and search their website. He walked to his computer and showed me the screen indicating about 7-8 pages of book shelves. I thought he was going to refine the search to show me only the style I was looking for, but that was not the case. It seemed like I was bothering him and taking up his time. Let me remind you that there were no other customers in the store and he was simply sitting at his desk. I will not be returning, order anything from this store or recommend this store to anyone. You lost my business. I would have given this store a zero star, but I had to give it at least one star to post this review. Hope the sales staff can change their attitude and actually listen and assist their potential customers to get their business. read more

We purchased a table and chairs in January. When delivered, they had 2 of the original design and 4 new designs. This was not what we ordered. They left the chairs and said they would find the remaining chairs. 2 weeks.... crickets.... I called and he said there is a work order and they are currently going thru their inventory at the warehouse and I will get a call back. 2 weeks go by... you guessed it... radio silence. So I called AGAIN and he dances around saying he spoke to me last week. Obviously he hadn't. He tells me they don't have the chairs. It is clearly the couch and has nothing to do with the way I have used it. It is falling apart on each part of the couch. The cushions are holding up but as you see in the pictures the leather shouldn't be literally falling off. You can send the info of the company again if you think they would actually do something about it. I ordered a sofa from them on January 18 and was told that could have taken 10 to 12 weeks to be delivered because it was a special order and because of the chinese new year (the production is in china). They don't exactly give importance to customer care or following up your order because, unless you contact them, you don't hear anything by them. Today, June 16 I don't have my sofa yet...after 5 months! Yes, I was promised a discount, but is it worth? So, should I recommend this store?
