Came here for 2025 Sushi Con on Day 1, Saturday September 6. The line was long but it moved quickly. No separate line for VIP until you were closer to the front. Tickets sold out online quickly and I would say the event was fun to go once but not multiple times. Unfortunately, you can't buy any fish or other products here, only on their websites which weren't US shipping friendly. Sushi Con merch like tshirts and pins were available for purchase though. Half the building was chaotic and unorganized but the other half was an organized line. Very weird and lots of line cutting. I think the smartest would've been to have everyone line up as one long snake/conveyor belt. If people didn't want to eat something, they'd just have to suck it up and stay in line anyway. Too much darting in and out which created chaos. VIP was worth it because of the shorter lines and the quality was good. It was about 6 or so additional vendors selling a good variety of fish, dessert and meat. Tuna cutting was cool and portions were generous. I definitely was close to throwing up after 1.5 hours of eating. I recommend people coming after 3pm if they don't want to wait in line but there might not be any tuna left from the tuna cutting. Overall, the event needed a larger venue and line organizing. If they could open a separate area for shopping, that would be fantastic. read more

I was here for the Outsider Art Fair (reviewed separately). This is a pretty decent sized space, bright and well lit, with high ceilings. Also has attractive wooden floors. It apparently has as second floor, but I somehow didn't see or experience this. Often hosts art exhibits, fashion expos, and smaller festivals like the coffee festival, the vegetarian, or craft beer festival. Trade shows, wine tastings and classes, wedding expos. Well-maintained and a decent space for smaller crowds of a few hundred maybe. They often have catering, but it's pretty basic and expensive, with cheap wine on hand. Coat check available. Acoustics can cause the place to get noisy, and depending on how things are set up, some spots can bottleneck and get congested. No decent parking on the street for sure. Use spothero when attending an event here. There is only so much you can say about an event space, right? read more

I've been to the Metropolitan Pavilion multiple times for industry trade shows over the years. It's a relatively small, two-story venue that has been around for a very long time. I attended JFRE event last month or another name is Japanese Food & Restaurant Expo. It was super nice to see tons of vender and restaurant owner. It is a good opportunity to get contract and explore more high quality or get a good deal for your business if you are in this industry. The convention has separate section between food, drink and equipment. It was less people in the morning but super packed in the afternoon. read more

Good event space, easy to get to. Multiple floors and plenty of space. Good restaurants and stores on that block, so it's easy to run out for a quick meal or to grab supplies if you need. We had to purchase WiFi and Electricity to use it for the event as exhibitors, but the space itself was fine. read more

A few of my close co-teachers and an Admin got into the swing of things by letting loose the weeknd before school got out to come to an event that showcased rums from St. Lucia, PR and other Caribbean islands at Metropolitan P. on W. 18th in the Chelsea area. Tickets were purchased in advanced- so registering and waiting outside for a bit was flawless without jumping through hoops. The space itself is easy to navigate by using stairs or the oversized elevator with distance floor markers. I'm not sure what's the allowed human capacity, but I felt between the rum companies+ kiosks and folks like myself there, the space was small in my opinion. But there was a very good flow as well as some security guards on hand to keep people in check while sampling rum shots and cocktails after another. read more

Came here for an art display. It was entertaining, interactive, learning, and had fun. Some art piqued my interest. The prices for the arts were a bit expensive imo. They were like USD $500+ for a frame... Being my first time in here I wasn't sure if you are supposed to pay sticker price or bargain... Came here for a Whiskey and Bourbon tasting event and it was so much fun!!! It was a nice venue that held a decent amount of people inside. Only came here for a special event but it was certainly memorable even with all the tastings! I think the staff did a great job controlling the amount of people and the dinner buffet that was included in my ticket. Would highly recommend coming here for an event! Cheers! read more

I've been to this particular event space about six times by now and for events such as PLAY NYC, TTPM Spring Showcase and the New York Coffee Festival. Since I am here to discuss it as a space to host an event I will be keeping this short. Overall it is a solid enough space and capable of hosting a function that several hundred will be in attendance for. During the events I've attended I've found it neither to be too hot or too cold in terms of the climate control and the facilities are always clean which is a bonus to find for those needs. Now I don't know if a WiFi signal is handled by the event space or the event organizer itself but I think its the first one and there is NEVER an open WiFi to use. Considering that people want to converse their own data plans at times, I think the event space should have something set up along with a section to recharge ones battery as I seldom see that anywhere. If the general public is curious about the venue, its easy enough to access from a number of different MTA lines or needs a few minutes walk past them. Keep on the lookout for what is scheduled there and see for yourself. read more

Pretty cool venue. Visited on this day to attend a vintage fashion expo. It had more than enough room to accommodate plenty of vendors! They even had a little cafe in a corner which suited me very well! The premises was nice and clean, temperature appropriate, the people that work there were really nice and I had no issues. Outsider Art Fair 2018 January 18-21, 2018 The Metropolitan Pavilion hosted a beautifully curated collection of diverse artist at this years Outsider Art Fair. I was lucky enough to score two tickets to attend last Sunday 1/21/18. (Thank you Katey G. and Yelp). The Art Fair consisted of several stalls of various artist and their depictions of art in all different forms & mixed medias. Painting, photos, clay, sculptures, 3D anything you can think of was there in some form. Some of the displays were difficult to determine the influence or to interpret the artist's final production. Like a wall of store plastic bags seamed together and for sale for $3000. In those cases I guess I'm just not cultured enough but there are some people out there who are and can appreciate it. However, somethings I did understand was a Bell and Hammer piano or Hand painted movie posters from Ghana. Nonetheless, I feel art is like Beauty it's All in the Eye of the Beholder! My guess and I enjoyed this event. read more

I've only been to this venue for the New York City Half Marathon expo. It was conveniently located on W 18th St between 6th and 7th Ave. There were a few subway stations nearby. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside, it was pretty spacious, clean, and more than adequate to handle a race expo where there's more than 20,000+ participants. read more

This venue space is great. Have frequented this space for various venues. Love the cleanliness of the restrooms as I never had to wait online. The lighting is just right, not too dark or too bright. Really nice facility for a large event. Very spacious with high ceilings, coat check area, clean bathrooms, well lit, and friendly professional staff. Easily a good choice for a medium to large size event, with plenty of space for vendors, booths, and lecture areas. Was just here for the NYC Vegan Festival to check out the eats and drinks. Located near the Chelsea area which offered a quick walk down to restaurants so we could get some real food for dinner. read more

My sister and I are visiting this location this weekend because of the annual NYC Vegetarian Festival and I love how they packed so many vendors in here. They set it up so that there was a flow to it. There were sections for speakers and demonstrations and everything was free-flowing even though there were so many people inside. It didn't feel crowded at all. We could have been outside and it would have felt the same way. My one and only problem is that, towards the rear of the space, there is limited circulation of air so it felt stuffy as it got more crowded which was a complete 180 from the side going towards the entrance. On that side it felt like there was a fan cooling you constantly. We're going back again today because it is a 2-day event and I know we're going to have a spectacular time. read more

I've been here several times over the years for various events. First time was back in 2011 for the chocolate show in November and last few times for the Wedding Salon Event. It is a nice spacious event space for expos to be held. The events I've been to in the past each booth had plenty of space and the layout can change upon how the event coordinator arranges it. I was invited to a wine tasting and seminar here, centered around Australian wines from many different producers. The event space was great. The layout was set up well, there was a lot of space so it didn't feel cramped at all, even with so many people and booths. I was able to make my way through them easily to taste the many kind of wines here. The lighting was also great, which is important when you are evaluating wines. It was a really good choice for a large event and I wouldn't hesitate to come back here if the opportunity arises in the future. read more

I've been to the Metropolitan Pavilion for everything from sample sales to fashion shows to massive Halloween parties and it's always proved to be a clean, bright, comfortable venue for any of the above. The ceilings are massively high which always adds to the space. In fact my only complaint here would be that sometime it seems almost too big. Like no matter how many people you had in here, you could never quite fill it up. Good when you need room to move around, but less so when you're trying to pack a party. I've never been upstairs, but it seems like it goes on and on forever. I agree with Arnab that a wedding here would be lovely, let's just hope I marry someone rich enough to afford renting it! read more

This venue is a huge space for sample sales. Well lit, tall ceilings, plenty of areas to showcase goods. I've been coming here for the Barney's and Ralph Lauren Home sales. There are plenty of help on the floor and a lot of registers that help the line going. The staff seems organized. I recognize staff from Souffer Haskin at the Ralph Lauren Home sale. All sales are final for sample sales. Carefully examine all products for defects. Take advantage of these sales by getting on the mailing list. read more

So far I have been here twice for the Winebow event, once last year And again this year. Both times were absolutely great! The biggest issue one should have with this place is the parking, such a pain, nearly impossible to find a spot on your own, but luckily there are over priced parking garages in the area!!! Yeay!! For the record, this is the reason why I gave four stars as opposed to five. But anyways, back to the MP... Very large venue that is able to fit tonsssss of tables inside. Plenty of space for the vendors to spread out. Space can be use for elegant and casual events. Well lit inside. Very spacious, even when it is crowded. Came here for the BUST Craftacular this past Sunday. The event was very well organized: there was a long line almost all the way to the end of the block, but we got in in ten minutes. To test whether this was only a coincidence, I actually waited in line to get in twice, and it took me exactly then minutes the second time too. Amazing! Once inside, the place was full of people (at $2 a ticket I'm not surprised), but you could still enjoy the exhibition. The space is pretty big, but not massive. My only complaint is that there are no windows. read more

I came here for the Winter Pop Flea Menwear event. I enjoyed the large open space and it suited the event well. There were a lot vendors and attendees but the space never felt overwhelmingly crowded. They had a space in the front specifically for checking in coats however there wasn't any staff checking them in. This was probably the event coordinator's decision and not the venue itself. But if you are looking for a large space to hold your event, I would recommend checking out the Metropolitan Pavilion. read more

Lots of cool items, beautiful sculptures, interesting artworks ranging from prints, painting, photography, drawings, and more. Mostly contemporary and modern art. I came here for an evening press event. It was a really nice, wide open space. I could tell the space was very versatile. This particular set up allowed for a large bar area, several display shelves/stands and a large lounge area. I never felt crowded or uncomfortable. The staff was on point. From coat check to the bar to the servers prowling the floor, everything went smooth as silk. The space has a nice modern "warehouse" feel with large exposed columns, white coloring with wood floors. Lighting can be adjusted to be very bright or nice and dim for "mood lighting". This is definitely a cool event space in a convenient location in Manhattan. read more

I volunteered for the Taste of Greenwich event and had an awesome time!! This venue is nice and spacious-perfect for a social, dressy event (also for low-key events, since I know another youth event will go on here in a couple months). I like this spot better than t he Armory since it's cozier and a bit more formal. The staff was great and helpful, and everyone was in cheery moods. It was filled with rows and rows of free food, drinks, and gift bags, after all! I'd be down to throw an event here. read more

I have been here working at events in the past and find the space to be very accommodating to large parties of people and conducive to things like sample sales that go on here. It's conveniently located near other shops, but nicely placed on a side street. When this place packs up though, it stinks to have to use the stairs and go up 5 floors. Whenever I am there, I always see events being set up for dinners or banquets/benefits which look beautiful. I have worked on the 4th floor and been to the 5th and 3rd shopping at other events. I like the high ceilings and spacious floors. The bathroom on the 4th floor is also nice and very clean. The space is very versatile. I would recommend this place for events with large groups of people (i.e. 500). Hoping for an event here again soon! :) read more

Recent visit was to work as a vendor for the Wedding Salon, a bridal trade show. Dimly lit space but sets an intimate atmosphere that is very accessible near Union Square. Working for four hours in hopes of attaining potential clients I did not feel crowded nor crammed at our booth. This event serves alcohol throughout the evening's running time and security do NOT check attendees' identification in accord with NYS law of 21+. Tsk, tsk!! My brother gets invited to many food expos and I usually like tagging along with him. One of our favorites is the annual Japanese Food and Restaurant Expo at the Metropolitan Pavilion and we always look forward to it every year. It's the largest showcase of Japanese food, sake, and specialty supplies. The venue itself is spacious and were able to accommodate many wholesalers advertising different cuts of fresh raw seafood, ramen, desserts, Japanese sauces and equipments, and alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages. High quality samples were provided they have lots of information sessions regarding their products. We'll be back next year! read more

There were 2 events happening on the day of my visit to this place. I attended the HubSpot event, which took place on the 4th floor. However, the Jimmy Choo event took place on the 2nd floor. I was so confused! Not because I couldn't find the right event, but not sure which one to attend first. The event space was quite huge. There's a few pillars in the room and comfortable tables and chairs. Since it's a HubSpot event, everything was so orangy! This huge room could accommodate at least 100 to 200 people. This is a perfect venue for any events. Ask Jimmy Choo! The sound system is cooperative so I could hear everything. The event was complete with a meal and some refreshments. Some meals! They used a great catering, definitely from a nearby restaurant. After the event I went to the 2nd floor to check out the Jimmy Choo sales event. I took a walk and didn't get anything. I'm sure most of the good ones went fast. The goal of the day was to grow the business with HubSpot, not to grow more shoes in the closet. So, let's focus one thing at a time. Nice venue! read more
