It is a loop and was muddy in some area. We did not see any wildlife other than birds. But the weather was perfect so it was beautiful and close to Denver so it was a quick drive to get there.

The trail I think is the perfect length, it does feel a little longer than 2.8 miles out and back. I'd say this is a moderate hike. You can bring dogs on this trail. I don't think it is super friendly for young children. I personally would get pretty exhausted if I had to backpack up my toddler. But for the older kids it would be a good one. Definitely add this one to your list! I think it is my favorite hike I have done so far on the front range!

The weather was gorgeous on the day that I went with friends and a local pup. Once we arrived, we were able to quickly find a parking spot. We trekked about 3 miles on a very easy trail and I may have broke a small sweat. There a few creeks and lots of greenery adding to the outdoor beauty and ambiance. I didn't see much wild life but it was still great. I was so busy enjoying myself that I didn't think to take a single picture. I see why it is such an attraction and would definitely consider coming back.

Base before start nice they have map of different trail routes, free pamphlet exact routes, and nice warnings for bears. Thankfully not cross one. lol. We started with the group cause different loops some intersect but most start base loop. Some parts single track but most part all pretty wide. I love taken care of see pine tree fell over they cut it down clear the path. There even few bench saw chill and soak up nature. Busy trail runners, walkers, bikers, and groups. This review is specifically for the Eagles trail loop. This trail kind of kicked my butt. It's a…read morequick 700+ ft incline on the lollipop before you get to the loop. Then there's another 300+ ft incline while on the loop, including a final climb near the end of the loop before you start your descent. I'm not sure any of this trail is actually easy. Even the final descent is so steep, it puts lots of pressure on the knees. The trail itself was mostly covered in snow. Most of what didn't have snow was covered in slush or was mud. Very little of it was dry and easy to traverse. There's not a lot to see for most of the trail, as it's within the trees. However, about .5 mile of trail in the top of the loop has an open ridge view to the west, and it's pretty spectacular. No doubt we'll do it again, but will probably wait for better weather. Even though the trail was fairly easy to follow, there were still two spots where I missed switchbacks and had to circle back to find where I went off course. So the 4.2 miles of trail ended up as 4.8 miles for me. Tired, but I did it!

However, one star removed for the dangerous bikers who need to be more careful and less aggressive in their speeds. I come from a beach area with PED lanes and bike only lanes . And Bikers were highly encouraged to know better ! I always biked with regards to speeds and safety of walkers. Every biker that was on the same shared path at this trail zoomed at top speeds without disregard to walkers. I constantly checked behind me but some corners don't let you see what is that far away. Bikers who clearly see in front of them , need to slow down! I can only imagine the accidents to those who have earphones in. The trail is 9 miles , I only did one mile up and back. I had come to make videos for one of my many young Godsons to show the actions and speed of a requested RC car. There was a gravel flat area near the picnic benches perfect to do so. So I drove over the other day and parked in a little parking lot across from the 24 Hour Fitness and got to walking and running. This loops up with the Cherry Creek Trail and there were people walking, cycling, hanging out with their dogs and such. There isn't a lot of shade so bring a hat and some SPF if you're going to be out for awhile. I ran for about four miles but look forward to coming back here again when the weather is consistently nice and exploring some more!

There is parking available near both the pickleball courts and playground area, which makes access easy. Plenty of portable restrooms are available as well. The trail map is a bit confusing. It wasn't immediately obvious where the various routes went or how far they were. I'll probably need to explore a few times and track the routes myself to get a feel for the trail system and distances.

This is a great welcome to Denver foothills hike. You've got two options, the high route and the…read morelow route so depending on your time allotment and physical ability you've got choices. The parking lot is a decent size but with the burgeoning number of outdoor enthusiasts moving to Denver it's always full early. Carpool or come early or wait to do an early afternoon. You get great views from an out and back with a loop. For the most part, this trail is accessible all year round. Snow and ice add complexity in the winter but often melt and leave some mud. This is not the place to go to find quiet solitude however. It's close and easy to access so Consequently it's always busy. Lots of eager trail runners, and entry-level Hikers and cyclists definitely add density to the experience. Go. Hike. Run. Bike. Enjoy!!
