We got pastries and cappuccino from here every day of our trip. Full of locals, authentic, delicious. No room to sit inside, but they do have two small tables outside if the weather is nice. Also super convenient as there is a bus that stops right in front of the store across the street. It was an excellent place for a more intimate breakfast before a day of touristing! read more

When researching where I would eat during the 18 hours I would spend in Copenhagen, I learned that Meyers Bageri is the brainchild of Claus Meyer - the Claus Meyer. I crossed Corner at 108, Leckerbaer, and Grod off the list without a whimper. Bye bye Munchies, with your bubble waffle cones. Next time. The one word I mastered on my trip to Denmark? Kanelsnurrer. I was inspired by the most ethereal buttery (but not greasy), cinnamon-y (but not overly sweet), fragrant breakfast pastry I have ever had. Yes, even better than the pistachio-chocolate escargot from Du Pain et Des Idees in Paris. I didn't care about the meh coffee in my other hand - I was devouring the slightly warm-from-the-oven treat that could have been carried down from heaven by angels. If I have a regret, it's that I didn't grab a kanelsnurrer the afternoon before when I opted for a raspberry jam slice and a miniature rugbrod. The rugbrod was disappointing - I've had way better - but I blame it on the diminutive size. The raspberry slice was fantastic, and made a lovely companion for a road trip two hours away. Service both times was warm and friendly. If you come earlier in the day, you can peek into the kitchen in back of the counter and watch them make breads and pastries. They sell a variety of condiments, honeys, granolas, etc., if you're looking for little gifts to take home. read more

Everything I had here was great. The croissant from here was probably the best one I've ever had. Not that I'm a croissant connoisseur or anything, but it was just really, really good. It's a tiny, tiny shop, so there's often a line out the door, but don't let that dissuade you. Definitely worth a visit if you are anywhere in the area. read more

A fabulous last breakfast in Copenhagen! This small bakery on Store Kongensgard is not to be sniffed at. There is no indoor seating and only 2 tables on the street but the pastries were yummy, the coffee fab, service so friendly (honestly the sweetest girl served us; cutting our cakes in half and putting both in to a bag each) and the bread looked amazing. We went for 2 coffees, a blueberry pastry (which although looked pretty, as it had been twisted throughout, was a little bland for us) and more of a cakey sweet bread with brown sugar on top (so moist - a must try). We paid little over £10 for the both of us for a very filling and calorific breaky - good value for money and worth every calorie! Tip: if sunny take your coffees and treats to the near by Rosenberg park - plenty of seating in a beautiful setting with a view of the castle! read more

Meyers Bageri came highly recommended by basically everyone I know who's been to Copenhagen, and was steps down the street from where we were staying. Needless to say, we stopped by and left weighed down with delicious pastries. The shop itself is quite small, with a tiny window counter and two small tables outside. We stopped in shortly before the big mid-morning rush and ordered the blueberry and cinnamon kanelsnurrers, croissants, and a høj snegl (a flaky, custard-filled pastry with cinnamon). The kanelsnurrers are Meyers' claim to fame, and deservedly so. They're fluffy, moist, and flavorful - the blueberry one especially was bursting with ripe blueberries and unlike any other pastry I've had before. Even later in the afternoon (and the next morning), the pastries were still quite fresh and delicious. The coffee was so-so - not as smooth as and with more bite than the other shops I'd visited in Denmark. When we went in, there was only one (very friendly and helpful) shopgirl who packed our pastries and also made our coffee. As a result, the line started to build up while she prepped the coffees. By the time we left, the crowd had hit and people were lining up out the door. I stopped by another day around 10:30am, and already they were out of basically all their pastries except for the kanelsnurrers, so definitely aim to beat the morning crowd if you hope to try anything besides the kanelsnurrers. read more

Sunday. Hang-over day. I needed something in my stomach and quickly, so I suggested we come here for a bit of bread products to help with the stomach. And also coffee. Because coffee is always necessary. It's a very small spot, but they do have one table and two chairs inside, so we managed to get some pastries and eat them inside while the rain was pouring before we did a bit of sight-seeing. We split three pastries between two of us. We had the Pain au Chocolat, a cinnamon roll thingy and some sort of traditional blueberry knot. I really enjoyed them all. And the coffee. Got there shortly before closing but was able to have the cinnamon roll and raspberry shortbread, both definitely tasty but the cinnamon roll probably would have been better had it been warmer or eaten earlier in the day. Best bread ever! I recommend the kanelsnurrer (cinnamon bun), rugbrød (ryebread), ølandshvede (wheat bread made from a certain type of flour) and fastelavnsboller (cream bun). Reasonably priced, good proofing and perfect quality every time. The bread is not organic only few, but they use old types of flour and grinding of the flour. Magasin has a Meyers Bakery too and for some reason the baker never does it quit as good. read more

This was a magnificent find for a cortado and scone for breakfast. My companions enjoyed a melt-in-the-mouth croissant and a cinnamon bun - both goey and light, but huge. The server was lovely as can be. Would stop back again and recommend this bakery for a take along pastry or bread. read more

Coming from Paris, I wanted to see what this Danish pastry hype was all about. This is the perfect neighborhood baker who makes delicious pastries and bread. I highly recommend the kringle and the chocolate scones. Additionally, the bread is worth buying the whole loaf! The lady working there when we came in was named Camille.
