The kanelsnegl was my favorite here. The swirl was very good as was the pistachio pastry. The almond croissant is also highly recommended.

    Chocolate croissant

The chocolate croissant here is by far the largest I've had. It's flaky crust was delightful and a decent amount of chocolate throughout. The normal croissant has many layers and has a tougher outer layer compared to the chocolate version. Not oily or too buttery. I only wish I had these croissants fresh from the oven, so that it would be softer and warmer.

Morning bun (20kr) - like a cinnamon croissant

I went to Bageriet Brod to try the almond croissant that everyone kept raving about, but alas I went a little too late (11:30am), as they were all sold out. I opted for the morning bun, which was like a cinnamon croissant pastry in a little muffin cup. It was very buttery and flaky, which I like. It was a little small for the price (20kr) but I could tell that they used quality ingredients. It definitely wasn't filling, but it was a great snack.

Oh my gosh 6 stars if possible. Excellent bakery here! We got a small sampling of an almond croissant and a morningbun and I have to say that the almond croissant is up there as one of the best if not the best almond croissant I've ever eaten (and I have eaten a LOT). I also got a loaf of olive bread which I'm salivating to try but we are going on a food tour soon so I must wait.... I'll hopefully edit this review to include the olive loaf thoughts assuming I'm not in a food coma later.

Bitchin' brownie and raspberry hazelnut square. Soooo good!

A little bit of San Francisco in this fair city is not a bad thing. Chad Robertson of Tartine fame extends his delicious baked goods recipes to this unassuming bakery in Vesterbro and we are all the better for it. A huge nod, too, to Claus Meyer (Grupe & Meyer) for his amazing range of (gluten heavy) flours. I love a chewy yet airy loaf of bread! Among our favorite sweet treats sampled are the chewy and moist walnut brownies and not-too-sweet raspberry-hazelnut squares. We purchased a sturdy little walnut-olive loaf to take back to CH with us and we're awfully glad we did. The consistency of the bread is both springy and chewy with just enough olive and walnut bits to go around. Putting any sort of spread or topping on this purple-hued loaf almost does it a disservice. This bread stands alone! Not interested in buying a whole loaf? Brød also bakes a variety of rolls. :) Unlike SF's Tartine and Bar Tartine, Brød is not swarming with custom, but it should be. PS: avoid ordering Brød's coffee--go to Enghave Kaffe, just a few doors down, instead!

Bageriet Brød is a gourmet bakery that sells a variety of pasteries and breads as well as some caffeinated beverages. Price point is average, service is friendly, and there isn't much room to sit besides some outdoor seating. Ordered: Chai latte - pretty awful actually. They used some really shitty chai latte mix that tasted awful 1/5 Croissant - very nicely done, flakey, buttery, enough salt, enough fluff Sweet and peppery gooey bread - not sure what the real name is, but it's a roll of some sort that is very glutaneous, comes with sugar and coriander i think. Was pretty good Lemon tart - good lemon meringue tart. Buttery button, lemon-y filling that wasn't too sour, and a the nice whipped meringue that had some crystalized sugar on top

Best almond croissant I've ever had

Holy wow. Best almond croissant I've ever had! I didn't think anywhere could top my previous favorite (Seattle's Bakery Nouveau) but Brod definitely did. All we tried was the almond croissant, but it was enough to make me crave and wish I'd come back multiple times during my trip. DROOL. So perfectly soft but crispy on the outside with the perfect almond filling. I can't stop thinking about it! If you're in Copenhagen, this is a must visit spot. They're open very early so be sure to stop in before the rush! [85/100]

Items Selected: Fruit and Oat Bread Orange Sugar Brioche Almond Croissant Jam Danish Almond Cinnamon Roll Part two of a pastry route to Copenhagen Central Station, a stop at Valby's Vores Brød showing it to be below average for Danish Bakeries, it was with good fortune that a local recommended Bageriet Brød at Enghave Plads 7 as one of the city's best, the independently owned space currently hidden behind construction but worth seeking out for friendly customer service and a collection of Baked Goods that are a little different from the usual. Rumored to be in possession of several recipes from Tartine's Chad Robertson and proudly featuring a Sourdough Starter from Meyer's Bageri, the same starter available to any guest who might choose to stop in with a container, those happening upon Bageriet Brød will immediately find themselves challenged on entry to decide between what must be over two dozen styles of Pastries and Loaves, the prices lower than most but certainly not to be mistaken for a lack of quality. Short on floorspace, much like the rest of Copenhagen's mom n' pop Bakeries, but offering several outdoor tables overlooking a park currently under renovation "that is taking forever" according to an elderly clerk, it was with 110DKK exchanged that five items were unloaded from two bags in the morning sun of early July, first bites of Cereal Bread made of ground Oats enlivening the taste buds by way of unexpected dried Fruit flavors in a malty matrix, the following Sugar Brioche with a touch of Citrus caramelized and sticky on the surface with gentle notes of Butter on the flaky layers within. Intrigued by several of the full sized loaves, but aware of the fact that there was much eating still to be one throughout the day, it was next that bites were taken of the Raspberry Jam Danish that was unfortunately a bit dry compared to its Custard counterparts despite being well constructed and not too sweet, better bites found in the stretchy Cinnamon Braid with sliced Almonds both inside and atop as well as a twice-baked Croissant that rivals those in France without a bit of Frangipane to be found, the top instead lightly dusted in Confectioners' Sugar and sliced nuts while the cavity is filled with ground Almonds and a lot of Butter instead of the typical cloying paste.

There's no shortage of amazing bakeries in Copenhagen but Brød is easily my favorite. Brød, which translates to "bread" in Danish, has the most incredible selection of freshly baked loafs of bread, pastries, picnic supplies, etc. When I enter the small space I am immediately taken back to my teenage years when I worked early mornings kneading dough and frosting cinnamon rolls at a local bakery. I am halfway around the world in Copenhagen yet Brød manages to take me back home. Sadly my stomach doesn't tolerate much bread these days but thankfully rye in small quantities doesn't seem to bother me, and Brød has the best rye. I highly recommend trying the rye muffins with dried cherries. They also make these mini muffins with blueberries, rosemary, and polenta (gluten-free!!) OMG these are so good, please make more gluten-free cakes like this. Once I tried a bit of my friends almond croissant and it was one of the best croissants I've ever had. Coffee is also fantastic. The employees are so friendly and it's located in my favorite neighborhood. This is definitely a locals spot. I'm also pretty sure the head baker has been influenced by Chad Robertson of Tartine Bakery in San Francisco because they have a copy of his book in Danish and the baked goods are so similar to the ones in SF. 10/10 recommend.

Soooooo good. I don't know the name of the pastry my gf had but it had almonds on top and a creamy center begins with a "k". Uhmazing. You should try it. I asked the owner how to pronounce the word that described the cinnamon bun I was ordering. He responded, "Cinnamon bun." ;) The hot chocolate with whip is desert for breakfast and the cappuccino is a double, FYI. Delicious.

Wow! Best almond croissant... walked half a mile from my hotel for it and it was very worth it. They could use better outside seating, more of just a quick stop then leave kind of place.

Hard at work. 7 am on a Sunday

The croissants are amazing, the breads :) coffee is just as. A true bakery and the only one open on a Sunday morning at 7:00 AM! Thank you and wish I had stop by earlier in the week.

Great neighborhood bakery for breakfast. Delicious, fresh breads with cheese and coffee. Definitely recommended.

This was around 4:13 pm on a Saturday. We order three smorrebrod and we ate them in the Tivoli food hall. All were served on plates. The correct way to eat was with a fork and knife as we learned while watching an episode of Somebody Feed Phil. The chicken salad was undoubtedly our favorite. Lots of shredded chicken but overall smooth and tasty. We crumbled the bacon to add some texture and that was even better. The marinated salmon was ok but we liked the nice pop of flavor from the pomegranate seeds. I may try to add them at home to my smoked salmon. The egg and shrimp smorrebrod was tastier. We returned our empty plates back to the counter when we were finished. Not completely in love with open face sandwiches but may try again on a future return trip to Copenhagen.

You can find Hallernes on the fifth floor of the shopping mall. We got there later in the day and there was still an array of toast options - some vegetarian, others pescatarian and others with a heaping of meat on top. We enjoyed the tartar, lemon & dill shrimp and the traditional pork toast. Each was somehow better than the next. Everything was so fresh which really enhanced the contrast of flavors on our plates. We liked it so much we contemplated going back and ordering more! We sat in the dining area to eat, which had a high chair available. We also got a window seat which had a beautiful view of the square below and some stunning architecture. We sat there for awhile just enjoying the view. When we were flying out of the Copenhagen airport we noticed this same restaurant inside one of the terminals. It's awesome to see such high quality food be offered in such casual but busy spaces. We'll definitely be back!
