Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu items. You should try their homemade noodles. The bread to start is chefs kiss! I had the fettuccine carbonara and my honey got the chicken Marsala. Sunday lunchtime is the dinner menu. Lucky us.We ordered the Tomato Basil soup, Veal Saltimbocca and a Risotto (my favorite) with mushrooms. I think it's called Risotto AI funghi. I added pan-seared veal to mine. So tender. I could cut it with my fork. One of my favorite things about ML is that the food comes out so fresh and hot! No sitting on the counter, waiting to serve it. We had Americano coffees with our limoncello mascarpone layer cake. First time I realized how good their coffee is. Espresso and cappuccino are my usual go tos. Really sets us up for a sweet dessert. Cannoli, anyone? Yum yum yum!! I took my mom here for dinner on a Friday evening, and was surprised that it wasn't its own brick and mortar (I almost passed it up). Parking is pretty scarce when you arrive so we had to park across the street (but not big deal). We made reservations and glad we did because it was pretty packed. They really maximized the space with seating but it wasn't too bad where you felt you were on top of people. We still had our privacy. I got the eggplant parmigiana which was delicious. The eggplant was nicely seasoned and crusted, YUM! My mom got the sea bass special with a lobster creamy penne pasta. She loved her dish. We definitely plan to come back for desserts. I was in town for a few days getting some writing done and decided to stay in Marietta. My friend who lives in Atlanta suggested we meet up for dinner at Mezza Luna and so we made a reservation. Last minute she had to cancel but I was still hungry (a girls gotta eat) so made sure to order some take out. There's a reason that this place is called the best Italian in the state of Georgia. The pasta here is fresh and even though I didn't die in the in, the decor is quaint and feels like old world Italian. Definitely a cool spot to take a date for a romantic dinner. I ordered takeout directly through the Yelp app and then drove the 15 minutes over to the restaurant. Food was ready and waiting for me when I arrived. A full order of the papardelle bolognese, which is one of the most popular dishes, fed me for 2 days. And it was delicious. I mean you really can't beat fresh pasta. It was tender and delicate. The sauce is flavorful and well seasoned and came with just the right amount of additional parmesan and fresh herbs. They also provided a piece of their focaccia bread to go with my order. The bread was very soft and a little bit doughy to my liking but definitely was a nice addition when toasted a bit. The restaurant is in a small building shared with another business. Parking is out front. The interior is cozy and with I'll guess 10 or 15 tables. The kitchen is in view from the tables in the front room. Our waiter was efficient and helpful. We each had a main course with a glass of red wine. My wife had Pappardelle Bolognese. I had Fettuccine alla Pescotora with marinara. And my son had chicken parmigiana. We all loved our meals. They arrived quickly and were extremely fresh and delicious. It was a memorable meal and I'm glad we stumbled across this restaurant. The cost was approximately $150 for three entrees and three glasses of wine. We felt it was well worth it. Y'all know I don't give five stars willy-nilly, but this place shook me. It's close-your-eyes-and-try-not-to-moan delicious - every bite! At one point, I stilled myself and, with tears in my eyes, whispered that I was "having an experience." It was Saturday night, and I'm grateful I'd made reservations as the line was soon filling the parking lot. Around 7:00, a man began playing music and singing familiar songs in Italian. The space was cozy, small, and intimate with lovely wall art depicting some of my favorite spots in Italia. We started with the calamari which had a perfectly light batter and nice sauce. It was slightly under-salted, but I soon forgot all about that. They served the house focaccia next with some oil and vinegar. We were warned it was other worldly, and they were right. I cannot explain how delicious these little toasty bread morsels were. Then came the entrees: Pasta Alla Amatriciana, the fettuccini with seafood, and a special of house-made pasta with veal ragout, burrata, and fried artichokes (which I refused to share because they were take-your-clothes-off scrumptious, and I didn't trust my family's restraint). These need to be on the full-time appetizer menu! All three pasta dishes were exceptional, but the Amatriciana made with pork cheek was stellar! I will caution that I did not ask how much the special was because I assumed it'd be comparable to the other dishes, but it was $42! Oops. For my daughter's birthday, they served her two little yummy cannolis, but she also ordered the chocolate mousse cake which was exquisite! The service was flawless, the ambiance inviting, the food breathtaking, and the prices reasonable for the quality. Literally, it was the best Italian dining experience I've had since Rome. I finally found Mt go for Italian. This spot is very quaint but also authentic. I left the gym and wanted pasta and found this place, in the cut, not bug parking lot but it's worth a date night, dinner, or even lunch. This Italian restaurant is definitely one of my favorites in the Smyrna area! It is a very small hole in the wall family place, with amazingly fresh tasting and authentic food! The atmosphere is very homey and intimate, perfect for date nights, girls nights, or just dinner with family. The food is tasty but I felt like we were treated very poorly. On our 1st attempt we were basically laughed out of the building because we didn't have a reservation, even though the bar was empty, I was told that was also reservation only....really? But fine if that's your policy, whatever. Many months later we tried their offerings at the Taste of Smyrna and decided it give it another shot. Made a reservation for 6:30, show up at 6:27 and were told the table wasn't ready and to go stand outside. Meanwhile another group shows up admitted they didn't have a reservation, wanted to 'try their luck' and were sat immediately. So despite following their rules this time we got to stand in the poorly lit parking lot next to the liquor store for 20 minutes. Again the food is good but not good enough to be treated like we were. Reservation rules should apply to everyone not just whoever you deem worthy. read more

My wife and I had an absolutely amazing time at Mezza Luna. Were were in town on business travel and found this small highly rated italian restaurant and decided to give it a try. Boy am I glad we did (reservations recommended btw so call ahead). The Restaurant is a smallish space with about 20ish tables and the kitchen is right out front behind the bar (if that makes any sense - go and you'll get it). We had reservations and were immediately sat at a table around the corner. We were immediately served a fresh batch of foccacia bread and some EXCELLENT olive oil & balsamic for dipping. We actually ate two servings of this (it does cost a little extra, but totally worth it), and we asked our server what the name of the balsamic was. He went back to the kitchen and was told 'it's a secret'. We laughed at the answer b/c it honestly made sense - it's that good. On to the food! I had the special which was a 4 cheese tortellini with a lamb ragout - truly truly delicious. I also had a side caesar which was very good. My wife had the bolognese. I can't under emphasize what I'm about to say. Literally the best bolognese I've ever had. There was so much flavor, so much spice, so much insane deliciousness that we ate the entire bowl - and its a large bowl. We ate there over a week ago and we're honestly still talking about the dish. I'm not a huge dessert person, I'd honestly rather have an additional portion of the main meal, or another drink or something - but we were so blown away by the food that I had to try the Cannoli. Damn. It was great. If you like cannnoli's - get one here. We're not going to travel to Georgia very often, but when we do, I promise - Mezza Luna WILL be on our places to eat. This spot is awesome. It is small, quaint, homey, and very specialized service. From the moment you open the door, an aroma hits you in the face like you are walking into an Italian Grandmother's kitchen. Two adjectives I kept using throughout the experience--delightful and delicious, everything was wonderful. I started with the Watermelon Salad. It was fresh and delicious. There were some seeds but this was with fresh watermelon so that is expected. They were not stingy on the arugula, and this is a specialty salad. For my entree for lunch, I had the specialty Pasta dish of Gnocchi in Saffron Sauce with Shrimp and Lobster, and that was a-ma-zing! The Gnocchi was comforting and abundant. The shrimp were not overcooked and the Lobster was abundant. The portions are generous and you will get full. A special treat was that were were served by the Chef himself who gave us a thorough overview of the specials, and they there all excellent recommendations. We finish up with the Creme Brulee Cheesecakes, which was so, so awesome--decadent and light. The wifey and I shared it. Listen, I cannot want to return to try something else on the menu. I love how homey Mezza Luna is at this location and how endearing they are from start to finish. You feel cared for and appreciated when dining there, and that is a dining experience nowadays that is very few and far in between. You don't get this often, and I'm glad they are close to home. Parking is ample in the print lot just outside and across the street. This is a white tablecloth, classic Italian eatery, but it is so laid back that it is good for dinner, lunch, or a gathering it family. It feels and is so authentic to the experience. Humm. I went to Mezza Luna for lunch. It's a small sized restaurant with an authentic feel. They serve small bites of complementary focaccia bread, which was good. Our server was nice and the food came out very quickly. I had eggplant parmesan. The sauce was a bit heavy for me. Not close to the best I've had. They have a lot of interesting seafood items on the menu, so I'll definitely make a second trip. "Don't expect much," my friend warned me when telling me about this place. She was referring to the exterior of the restaurant, which is completely unassuming and shares a complex with a rundown liquor and package store. As we walked indoors, we saw that things were cozy but scantly decorated. But truly, we couldn't care one whit about any of this. Because as we followed our waitress to our table, we were catching whiffs of fresh bread and pasta sauce. Focaccia is likely what we were smelling, and it's one of the first things they bring out to the table, along with a small dish of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. It's served warm, with a crusty and toasted exterior, which made it nearly impossible to ration them for sopping up sauce later (note: you always have the option of getting extra bread for a small upcharge). We started with the calamari fritti, which are a thing of beauty. They look as though they've been painstakingly hand-breaded, because they're so well-coated yet extremely light. They're also hardly salted, which might compel some to think they're unseasoned. But I found them to taste just right with the accompanying sauce and a heavy spritz of lemon. We whizzed our way through our plate, which turned out to be a good thing because the pastas arrived way faster than we expected. I ordered the pappardelle alla bolognese, and my husband ordered the fettucine alla pescatora. Both were unmistakably made with fresh pasta, and we slurped happily from our respective bowls. My favorite thing about these entrees were the serving sizes. These weren't fancy plates with a tiny swirl of pasta on a big plate; instead, they felt like the generous, Italian-mama-spooned pasta bowls that are ready to fill up the most cavernous of stomach spaces. While there were no downsides to our meal, we had a bit of a scare while taking bites from my husband's dish. We both ended up nearly chipping some teeth on some loose mussel or clamshell pieces that we hadn't noticed in the sauce. So word to the wise if you order it (though I hope that doesn't scare you away - it was delicious!). The service in this family-owned restaurant is fast, friendly, and warm. We went for dinner on Friday for my husband's birthday. Food was good and ambience was cozy. The reason for 1 star? Service...our WAITER INCREASED THE TIP I left him from $20 to $24. The service was lacking to say the least (rude). I happened to check my receipt against my cc charges and was surprised to find this discrepancy. I went to the restaurant today and spoke to the manager/owner Anthony who refunded $5 and apologized. He said he would speak to this waiter who he says has been with the restaurant for year/ year 1/2. I can't imagine keeping a staff member knowing that they stole from a customer. Who knows if he's done this to other customers who typically don't keep their receipt or check their statements. How many of you check your receipts against your cc statements from a restaurant? I've never had this happen before but from now on, I will always keep a copy of my receipt to double check for possible theft. read more

Very great experience! This restaurant reminded me of one of those local neighborhood cafés in Italy, emitting a warm and cozy vibe and a family ambiance. Most of the people working there were native Italians! The bruschetta was delicious albeit had a little bit of a kick with the amount of balsamic on it. Our entrées tastes phenomenal and the portion sizes were more than sufficient to feel full. We topped it off with the amazing creme brûlée cheesecake, although all of the desserts looked so delicious we had trouble deciding. All servers had masks on during our visit and we felt very safe eating there. This restaurant was able to keep all of its people during the pandemic and still remain open. Call ahead and reserve!! Their wine menu is extensive and the waiter was very helpful in making a selection. We knew we wanted to try the bruschetta appetizer, and I decided on a classic Fettuccini (Alfredo) with shrimp for my entree. My sister got the Gnocchi Alla Vodka. For dessert we got this brûlée cheese cake that was to die for! All around, it was the best Italian food I've had in the area-- and some of the best I've ever had period. We decided to try something different and came across Mezza Luna on yelp. We ordered takeout online. The website was user friendly and easy to navigate. The restaurant is located in a small parking lot with tight parking, the lot was close to full capacity and the small restaurant was very busy. When I walked in to get my food the staff was friendly and the food was ready to go. I ordered the Seabass with Angel Hair Pasta and my husband ordered the Salmon piccata with spaghetti. My seabass was absolutely delicious and a nice size, it was the most flavorful that I have ever had. The angel hair pasta was ok could have been a lot better, too oily for my liking. My husband's Salmon was seasoned very well also but he didn't like the spaghetti. The complimentary bread had a good taste but had a tad bit too much oil. I'm glad we tried the food at Mezza Luna finally. The fish was excellent, I would come back specifically for the fish the pasta I was not as impressed with. I cannot recall where, but I saw some reviews for this place a couple of years back and I said I was always going to go and check it out, so when my friend hit me up and said hey dinner is on me, I looked through my Yelp bookmarks, saw this place, just happened to be in the mood for Italian, and I said let's go. This is definitely a reservation type of restaurant, I do not think you could even walk-in without waiting for half and hour to an hour. There is very limited seating, and that is the reason I am giving this place a four, our table was next to the bar, and when I say next to the bar, there were people on bar stools behind my friend, servers continually reaching for stuff behind me that was laid out on the bar, and we had to position our chairs to the right of the not so big table so that our heads did not hit the bar, because they were parallel with it. Outside of that, this place was great, and I still find it hard to believe that an hour and a half went by so quickly while we were here, because it did not take long at all for our food to get to our table, and when I saw FRESH! I had one of their dish of the days, it had a lot of pesto, and I very much like pesto and did not really see anything on their menu that offered it, so when the server mentioned it I was very happy. It was soooo filling, and I would say took less then 5 minutes from the time I ordered it to come out on the table. The desert was great too, though I wish I would have got what my friend had. I got the Limoncello cake - Layered cake with limoncello liquor and marscarpone cheese and she had Crème Brûlée Cheesecake, which I have had before at other places and very much like, and probably should have stuck to what I knew, but I wanted to try something different since we were already here.
