This was a first impression visit- party of 8. I called for a reservation. Special occasion on a saturday night at 8PM. Located in a suite next to a package store. Free small parking lot in front. Free extra parking across the street. The total was about $150 for 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 drinks, and a dessert. Pros The quiet, intimate, and classy atmosphere was exactly what I needed for my family. When we first arrived, our table was not ready and we had to wait outside. However we were given continuous updates on when the table would be ready, they apologized, and they were very understanding. Considering we were a large party in an intimate space, we understood and only waited about 20 minutes before the table was ready. You could tell the food was fresh, the orders came fast, and the service was amazing. The fresh in house pasta took everything to the next level. It was the perfect night out. Cons The establishment is intimate so I do not think it would ideal for extra large parties. I had a party of 8 at 8PM but I dont know if they could have accomodated us if it was any earlier during prime dinner time. I wish they had a better parking situation but its not bad and its free. I visited Mezza Luna with my little family this year to celebrate my birthday and had a lovely experience. I randomly decided that I wanted Italian so we decided to check them out for the first time. Mezza Luna is located in a very small plaza with a tight parking lot. I'm so glad that I read the reviews in advance about parking, but I still wasn't prepared for what we saw. Surprisingly, there were 2 or 3 open spots when we visited around 7pm. We had reservations and were quickly seated after being greeted. The restaurant itself was quite intimate, offering only a few tables that were laid out in a manner that had us all quite close. But it worked! Since we had our son with us, they already had a high chair ready for us but he slept through the entire dinner, which also shows how peaceful it actually was in there. I started with a glass of chianti and it paired perfectly with the complimentary starter bread. That focaccia was so fresh! The crust had a great crunch but it was still soft and fluffy inside. We went with the meatball appetizer special which included 4-5 meatballs covered in marinara, fresh tomatoes and burrata. They were delicious, although the tomatoes being cold was a bit of a surprise. For dinner, I went for the chicken piccata and my partner opted for the chicken marsala. Coming back here as a regular, I have never had a disappointing experience!! Highly, highly recommend their daily specials for dishes truly unique and flavorful, do note they tend to be pricier however. This time we got the bell pepper and smoked cheese pasta (daily special), lasagna, the arancini (daily special), and potato and leek soup (soup of the day). Everything was delicious!!!! The bell pepper with smoked cheese was superb, the creamy sauce had a hint of sweetness from the peppers but held a lot of the smoky flavor. The pancetta then added just a hint of saltiness and were flavor bombs that really complemented the entire dish!! The lasagna was also really good in terms of flavor!! The texture was very soft, almost like butter; not sure if it was intended but we preferred lasagne with more solid noodles. The flavor was unbeatable however. The starters were also really good, the arancini with meat and peas inside was so comforting and hearty, and the saffron potato and leek soup was good but had quite a delicate flavor. The dessert was an amorino tiramisu, which had very flaky layers in between cream. It was not too sweet or heavy, which was nice after our large meal. LOVE LOVE LOVE this restaurant! Hadn't been in a few years and visited recently for lunch-- was BLOWN AWAY... and learned it was new ownership since I was last there. We ordered every special because they sounded so amazing. I ended up booking a seated, curated dinner for clients of all attorneys and Drs- they took everything to the next level. We were lucky enough to score a spot at the bar before the dinner rush came in. Food is phenomenal. Starts with bread & olive oil & balsamic and no exaggeration it's some of the best bread I've ever had. Service was attentive without hovering and food came out quickly. This was a lovely place for an intimate night out. The small restaurant made for a special date night, and our server was helpful and excellent. She recommended great wines for us, and helped us decide on what food to order as well. My husband enjoyed the soup special, which was a creamy artichoke soup with pieces of lobster. Then we shared the chicken Saltimbocca with spaghetti and the pasta alla Amatriciana. The chicken dish had a lot of salt and pepper, but was tasty. The pasta was very nice, but the meat had a smokiness that I almost found bitter, so it wasn't the best pasta I've had in Atlanta. This is a mom n' pop place that we are willing to drive out to from the N Druid Hills area. They recently got new ownership. The service was very warm and the have a decent menu. The food is delicious. The desserts divine. The price is so affordable. They have plenty of vegetarian options as well. We are looking forward to bringing family when they come to visit. read more

We just moved right down the road from Mezza Luna and we pass it all the time driving around Smyrna so my husband and I went to try it last night and wow, we loved it! The staff were wonderful, the place had such a homey feel, and the food was fantastic! We loved the bruschetta we ordered for the appetizer and the complimentary focaccia bread. But what really sealed the deal for us was the special they had that night- the pesto pasta. I love pesto and have had it many times but this by far is the best pesto dish I've had! So yummy and flavorful and a very good size portion! We were too full to try the dessert but they looked yummy and will definitely be back! read more

Went in for dinner on a recommendation. Very good and authentic Italian fare. The bruschetta was great with the right amount of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. It tried the broccolini and lobster soup. That was outstanding, you could always use more lobster of course. I went with the gnocchi alla vodka for my entree. It was rich but very good. The gnocchi was handmade in house and you could tell. The vodka sauce was creamy with a ton of flavor. The flavor of the sauce was enhanced with pancetta. Came to Mezza Luna for the first time on a date. Smaller inside than I anticipated but gives very warm and cozy vibe. The menu was easily digestible and wasn't overwhelming which I loved. I came without reading the menu first and was able to easily choose what I wanted to eat. Our server was nice and attentive. I ordered the gnocchi which was actually pretty good and the portion size was great which was what I was worried about because a lot of Italian restaurants struggled with a decent portion size. Very favorable and would likely order this again however the chicken parm also looked good as well. One thing to note is, the restaurant is a bit loud. I think it's because it's smaller in size and conversations carry so it definitely was a bit loud but it wasn't unbearable. What I can say is I ordered the lobster bisque, calamari, and seafood pasta, and every dish managed to be impressively... average. I've never been to Italy. The lobster bisque tasted more like a thin soup instead of being creamy. The calamari pieces were large and more rubbery than usual, and the seafood pasta was just okay with a very average marinara sauce. Service was also just okay. The décor and ambience were cute -- definitely a nice date night spot -- but I can't say the food matches the vibe. Cost was reasonable; I spent about $60. read more

We had a dinner reservation for a party of 7 at 7:30 pm on Friday, 1/3/25. The parking lot isn't too big, but there are more spots across the street. We were seated right away! From the outside, it looks like a little hole in the wall. But don't let that stop you! Very homey vibes. The restaurant was packed, but not overcrowded and we had plenty of space. I couldn't have eaten the ravioli dish as my one entree because of how heavy it was, but splitting it was perfect! So so good! - Crème Brûlée Cheesecake ($10): Wow, this was so tasty!! My husband and I came here on an early Tuesday night before a Brave's game. It was our first time and we were delighted with the staff, quality of food, and speed of service. Our waiter, Ricky, was fast and efficient and made great recommendations. I ordered the eggplant parmigiana and it was the best I have eaten in Atlanta! Wow! Great Italian pasta made in house! Excellent service! Casual and relaxing ambiance. This place is a hidden gem. It looks so unassuming on the outside, but the inside is nice and the food is amazing. Our server was very attentive, gave great suggestions based on our comments, let us sample three different wines, and was friendly. We started with a Chilean sea bass ceviche served, which was a nice and light appetizer. For dinner, we split two main courses. The bolognese (red meat sauce) gnocchi had great flavor, and the house made gnocchi was probably the best I have eaten - perfect texture and consistency. The pasta alla amatriciana (spicy red sauce pasta with beef cheeks) was incredible. The pasta texture was amazing, and the sauce was fantastic. This was my favorite dish of the evening. We reserved a table and requested no alcohol and was nice they didn't ask. Ordered several starters and entrees. Caprese salad was fresh. "Bread basket" was 6 toasted squares and has oil/ balsamic on table to dip. Request for more bread is an extra charge. Chicken piccata stole the show although chicken was a little dry. Only thing left on the plate was the capers. They had seasonal specials and desert- chocolate tiramisu which we split 3 ways. Lovely hole in the wall type Italian place with flavors that is amazing. All the dishes blew us away. The fettuccine and risotto were so good. The sauces for each made the dishes so good and rich without being too heavy. I forgot to take a picture but I also ordered a negroni sbagliato which was nice. We asked our waitress for wine recommendations and it was perfect to what we asked for! Also, always get dessert because the crème brulee cheesecake was the perfect ending to the night. The only critique I have is that the restaurant seemed to grease/wipe the floors so well that it is almost slippery to walk through so make sure to walk carefully through the restaurant and not slip. The restaurant is small so make sure to make reservations online. Definitely adding this restaurant to the list of places my repertoire of restaurants in Smyrna. read more

I added pan-seared veal to mine. So tender. I could cut it with my fork. One of my favorite things about ML is that the food comes out so fresh and hot! No sitting on the counter, waiting to serve it. We had Americano coffees with our limoncello mascarpone layer cake. First time I realized how good their coffee is. Espresso and cappuccino are my usual go tos. Really sets us up for a sweet dessert. Cannoli, anyone? Yum yum yum!! I took my mom here for dinner on a Friday evening, and was surprised that it wasn't its own brick and mortar (I almost passed it up). Parking is pretty scarce when you arrive so we had to park across the street (but not big deal). We made reservations and glad we did because it was pretty packed. They really maximized the space with seating but it wasn't too bad where you felt you were on top of people. We still had our privacy. I got the eggplant parmigiana which was delicious. The eggplant was nicely seasoned and crusted, YUM! My mom got the sea bass special with a lobster creamy penne pasta. She loved her dish. We definitely plan to come back for desserts. The food is tasty but I felt like we were treated very poorly. On our 1st attempt we were basically laughed out of the building because we didn't have a reservation, even though the bar was empty, I was told that was also reservation only....really? But fine if that's your policy, whatever. Many months later we tried their offerings at the Taste of Smyrna and decided it give it another shot. Made a reservation for 6:30, show up at 6:27 and were told the table wasn't ready and to go stand outside. Meanwhile another group shows up admitted they didn't have a reservation, wanted to 'try their luck' and were sat immediately. So despite following their rules this time we got to stand in the poorly lit parking lot next to the liquor store for 20 minutes. Again the food is good but not good enough to be treated like we were. Reservation rules should apply to everyone not just whoever you deem worthy. read more
