Our waitress, Yvonne, was extremely knowledgable and on point in terms of sharing information. We had mixed reviews for our dinners. Some were great. Very disappointing meal, thin tasteless vodka sauce littlest amount of meat and again salt was needed, Chicken piccata was ... weird, chicken wasn't breaded, was sliced, in a thin non lemony sauce with capers and spaghetti on the side , spaghetti was left on the side. Our waitress Yvonne has worked there many years and we enjoyed her stories and history of the restaurant and people who have passed through, some famous and some just friendly folks passing through. My friend had chef's version of seafood pasta w clams, mussels, scallops and fish. These 2 dishes were reasonable at less this $20 per meal. Upon entering I was greeted by a friendly and attentive hostess that was genuinely pleased to see me. Everything is very clean and quaint. You feel comfortable. I had the chicken Marsala and it was very good. I always ask for angel hair pasta but forgot this time since I was considering several items, my mistake .The salad was super fresh but had the tomato cut into very small pieces., I don't eat the seeds and she very graciously exchanged it for me. My experience at Mezzaluna II was just like being in a friendly relative's home having a family meal. It's just that cozy and comfortable. The proprietor (I don't think is really Italian) couldn't have been a better at doing Italian food and along with his staff couldn't have been more attentive and friendly. Both my husband and I went for the mussels in a white wine sauce with garlic. The flavor produced in the dish were definitively pronounced and totally delicious. Remembered this wonderful treasure the last time we traveled from OH down 77. Such a super dinner, and well worth the side trip for delectable classic and some new variation menu choices. We both had the Caesar salad, and then had the Tilapia Piccata and a Veal Parmesan. Both were tender and had just the right amount of flavor and not heavy handed on the garlic!! We are spending the night in Statesville and went in search of a local restaurant. We wound up visiting Mezzaluna II. What a delightful Italian restaurant! We were warmly greeted and seated immediately by Britni, our server for the evening. She went over the daily specials, describing each of the entrees in detail. We each started with a glass of the house Cabernet Sauvignon and a basket of crusty bread, both were very good. A generous pour didn't hurt either! Salads were simple, but fresh and tasty. I had the chicken parmigiana for my dinner. The chicken was prepared perfectly. The seasoning and bread crumbs were spot on. This was accompanied by spaghetti with the same marinara sauce, which was light, fresh, and tasty. My wife went with the baked manicotti, which she described as delicious. We finished the meal by sharing a piece of chocolate raspberry cheesecake! Rich and filling. Britni was an excellent server, the service was friendly, prompt and attentive. I like that the food is not over-seasoned, a cheap trick the chains use. Here, you can taste the ingredients. I walked down the street to visit Twisted Oak, but they are a bar who doesn't open until 6pm. What kind of bar restaurant does that? I walked around for a couple of minutes and found Mezalluna. Small, unassuming place. I was seated in the dining area and given the menu. I was pretty hungry, so I started wit the bruschetta. The tomatoes were delicious and the basil fresh. The chef seems to have a bit of an attitude that I wasn't very happy with. When I ordered, I said bruschetta with a hard "C" sound. He looked at me condescendingly and said bruschetta with the "sh" sound. I'm not Italian there Chachi, so pump the breaks on the pronunciation police. When the bread came out, i wanted a little more balsamic and the chef brought it out and mumbled something to the effect of "that's too much balsamic". For the main course I ordered chicken allá mezalluna. The description looked good and it sounded like a house specialty, so why not? The description said it had garlic, vodka, spinach and a bit of cream in a tomato sauce with a side of pasta. It came with a salad that was slathered in dressing that I did not like (not a mayo based dressing guy). I wish they would have asked what kind of dressing I would like because I bet they have a decent Italian. So the salad was wasted. The chicken was tasty but I wasn't blown away. It had some nice flavor but I think the sauce should have been a little thicker: it was kind of thin and watery. The brócoli was nice and crunchy. The food was pretty good here but I was put-off by Mario Batalli behind the stove. I would probably go back again. 3.5 stars Extra Credit: when I went to Twisted Oak on my initial dinner attempt, they weren't open until 6pm (this was 5:15 or so). I noticed another couple leaving TO for the same reason. About 5 mins after I get to Mezalluna, that same couple came in for dinner. Great Place for a Business Lunch We have on many occassions, taken out of town clients to lunch and this is one of their favorite. Menu is very Northern Italian with a twist. Service is always great and it;s one of the few places where you can have a good meal, quite atmosphere and be able to have an intelligent conversation. I got takeout last week and i gotta say the flavor was phenomenal, the sauce for my chicken picatta was great and fresh. Only downside was the chicken I got was a bit overcooked, It was pretty rubbery. But I can't fault them, usually during takeout your chicken will continue cooking in its container. The food was steaming like right out of a microwave. Translucent broccoli(frozen). Stale bread, only 5 pieces with 6 guests. "Salad with no tomato" = leafs with onions and one radish slice. Waitress wouldn't write down our order, messed up drinks, messed up salads, and missed the chicken on two alfredo orders. The sauce had that obvious canned look to it. Chicken was slimy pieces of low quality meat. On top of this, they charge 16$ or so a plate! This price gets you wayyyyy more quality in even a larger city like Charlotte. read more

My wife and I walked to downtown for lunch to actually eat at a different restaurant that was closed for spring break, so we stopped in to the Mezz. We had baked manicotti and eggplant parm. Simple dishes that didn't disappoint. The eggplant was lightly breaded and the sauce on each dish was tasty with the perfect amount of garlic. Our waitress was cute as a button, attentive to our needs, and very courteous. The only negatives is the bread was slightly dry, the house salad was drowned in dressing (very good and fresh greens though), and the parm was dried and in a shaker. I would much preferred freshly grated. All and all, it was pleasant and we will return. read more

I love eating here!! So nice to break away from the chain Italian restaurants. The atmosphere is so cozy and the staff is always so friendly and helpful. The food is quality and fresh. Love the house salad dressing and the rolls! I pretty much always get some form of pasta with alfredo sauce and it is so good. Last time they had a lobster ravioli that was fantastic. The reason I took away a star was that despite the quality and freshness of the food, it is often lacking in flavor.
