Thank you Serenity Home Health Care for sending a good wound care nurse. But what happened to all…read moreof the other services Florida Blue Insurance Company instructed you to provide (through their intermediary CareCentrix)? After discharge from the hospital I was assured that a home health care company would be ready to perform Physical and Occupational therapies as well as provide a home health care aide to help me shower and bathe. It wasn't until I posted a screed on Facebook shaming Blue Cross and CareCentrix for providing me with a home healthcare agency that did not and could not perform their services. Almost immediately was contacted by the owner of this mom and pop agency assuring me the highest level of attention GOING FORWARD; with no explanation as to why I did not receive those services to begin with. Within days I got called by both a physical therapist and occupational therapist "evaluator" to come to my home to start the process. The business owner compared the importance of delivering the contracted services to some experience his mother and father had (a century ago?). I was supposed to be relieved. Earlier I called their office asking for an aide to come to my home to shower or bathe me. Weeks had elapsed since I last was cleaned (at the hospital) and it was urgent. I actually said that I was turning "ripe" from a knack of a bath. Their office told me their home aide had quit because of the Covid-19 virus and they were searching for a replacement. In other words NO SHOWER! After my Facebook post and the conversation with the owner All of a sudden there was an aide available. But when I explained that I had only one leg, weighed 180 pounds and needed an aide who could SAFELY lift me, the aide scheduled to come to my home was cancelled and no aide materialized. I also told the owner that he needed to provide his nurse with sufficient medical supplies to perform his nursing job. It was apparent when the ruse came to our home that he was not equipped with the necessary sterile supplies. We had to provide some. The owner bemoaned that Medicare didn't pay him enough money to purchase the supplies in order to perform his contracted services. Imagine it is Medicare's fault. He could have asked for more money from the government. And that (see my tears sliding down my cheeks) he was forced to pay for extra supplies out of his own pocket. I suggested that he needed to open his pocket a little bit more so that his clients, like me,, receive the medical supplies (bandages, sterile saline solution, clean moisture absorbent pads, and even Betadine Solution to prevent infections). What a surprise, Serenity Home Health care cancelled their contract to provide services to me. Maybe I was too demanding or maybe I expected the company to provide the services they were contracted to perform in a timely and professional manner. Is this how one wants their parents to be treated, Mr. Owner? And it doesn't matter how long you've been in business. It is important how you serve TODAY'S CLIENTS.
