We ate for 1 hour and painted for 2 hours. All painting supplies were provided from venue. Vera was the instructor with 2 assistants. The assistants replaced our paint brush rinse cup, re-fill paint and provided tips. Prior to the event, the event coordinator asked Vera to choose a picture for us to paint. The picture was a couple of sunflowers in a vase. It was a good choice since the finished painting can placed in many common places and it was at beginner's level. There were a real sunflower available at each table, so we can use it as a reference. Vera provided guidelines and we had the option to be creative or paint something completely different. Vera is a very sweet lady, she hand wrote many different inspiration quotes on a mini card and handed out to each person. This was to give us some inspiration right before we begin painting, I really like the positive energy that it provided. However, I wished she provided more instructions on how blend different colors to achieve the colors she had, communicate the techniques on how to create certain strokes, and show visually how to paint each section (her back was covering since she stood directing in front of her painting). Perhaps, she might have decrease verbal communication so we can hear the background music, which was very soothing while we paint. She provided detail responses if we had questions though. Our group came here on a mid-day on a Wednesday and there was plenty of free street parking. The area where we painted had a strong mardi gras theme with decorations, lights, objects hanging from ceiling & walls, painting on walls, and more. Also, there is a stage already set up. This venue here could be use for a wide variety of functions such theatrical performances. Overall, this was an awesome event as mini getaway from the office.

Given that MoHo is still in the fairly early stages of development this is a very popular event among residents giving us something to do with our weekend. The festivities kick off with the Kite Run along the Creek Trail and then follows on at Central Park from 10am with the festival itself where you can find Kite demos. bouncy houses, vendors and booths with a large selection of food including a couple of food trucks from the surrounding area and live entertainment. The festivities go on all throughout the day until 5pm. The festival is more aimed at Children but is also great to meet other local residents. MoHo is such a friendly community, I'm really beginning to love living here!

I went on to Yelp to lookup any local halau's near me and I ran across Hula Ikaika Ohana O Kaawai-E Honu Iti E in Tracy. I spoke with Kumu Renee and she made me feel right at home from the minute I met her. It's been since July 18' that I decided to join this halau and it was the best decision I made. All my hula sisters have been welcoming and encouraging. Kumu Renee is so kind, caring and passionate about her halau and students. I'm so happy I joined!!!!

Would we have continued coming here for 12 years if it wasn't so? During that time I've started dancing too. My sons even dance once in a while. This halau is like family and you are treated that way the moment you walk through the door. It has been great seeing my kids grow up with all their halau sisters and brothers. The wonderful ladies I dance with have all become my sisters as well. Kumu Renee is a more than qualified Kumu Hula (hula instructor). Certified at that! Not many Kumu out there are. She was taught by one of the best and it shows in her dedication to her dancers. She does not teach you simply how to dance, but you are taught the history, the culture and the language so you can dance educated. There are a lot of people out there who are taught how to dance but not taught the meaning. Hula and Tahitian dancing tells a story with every step, every sway or hand movement and she teaches us that. It's more important than learning the dance itself. Kumu Renee is very proud of her students and she encourages them through every stage of developing into the best dancer they can be. This halau is a performing halau. They do shows all of the time, for many occasions. But they also dance competitively. If you find yourself stopping by the halau you can see the many awards won in previous years. There are separate classes for the little kids, I believe the youngest dancer is 3! Then there are beginner classes, intermediate and advanced classes too. So it doesn't matter what skill level you are at, you can join. When my daughter first started here she had zero experience. After a while of course she improved and never looked back. It was one of the best decisions I've made to bring her here all those years ago. I'd do it again in a heart beat.

I had been a member of this club for nearly a year and left due to a new job. The group of members…read moreI was a part of were all friendly, nice, hospitable and had people of different age groups. I found friendship in this club. The club kept the meetings fun and occasionally hosted special events. The learning curriculum was fantastic and well-developed, they had textbooks, speech practices, and opportunities to practice leading. It is all geared towards making people better public speakers and group leaders. The members were improvement-oriented, wanted others to succeed, and pinpointed areas for improvement in kind ways. Sometimes some of the members were too "nice" in delivering criticism but at least they made the effort mention areas for improvement. This group met on Tuesdays at noon and not many people are available at that time, however, if you are able to go you'll be meeting inside Tracy's beautiful City Hall. I highly recommend this group if you want to improve at public speaking and leading meetings, join an activity in the Tracy area, or have a place to meet new people.
