We hosted our baby's birthday party here after reading so many rave reviews, and Laura and Mi Casa did not disappoint. Our friends and their children were greeted with a warm, colorful, and inviting space. When the class began, Laura reminded us of the importance and fun of music and staying involve, and we all had a blast. It was so fun to sit back and watch everyone enjoy every second. We loved learning Spanish words and baby sign language as we listened to her enchanting voice, and we had fun dancing too! After searching for "Spanish music classes" in the Austin area, Mi Casa Es Tu Casa continuously appeared on the various sites I visited. I signed up for a demo and enrolled my then 1-year old right away for various reasons. I've enrolled her for 2 semesters now (babies 0-15 mo and then mixed-aged class) and have loved everything about the experience! The classes are very interactive: there's lots of movement, repetition and modeling, guided parent-child interactions, baby sign language, gentle parenting, music education, and of course Spanish! The teachers not only model various ways to perform movements, they share many parenting and language acquisition/development tips thought the class. The staff and teachers are very kind, knowledgeable, engaging, and friendly, and make all the families feel welcome (we've had classes with Ana and Laura.) The classrooms, studio, and play area are very clean and organized, child-sized and appropriate (Monterssori-inspired.) The atmosphere is very lively, energetic, and the parents and children interact very positively. The songs are very well written, engaging, and most uniquely, very Latin-inspired. This is what also drew me to the studio, as the children not only learn Spanish songs but they also learn about the culture (societal values, quotidian life, celebrations, popular rhymes/idioms, etc.) The owner, Laura, even took time to explain the music-making/writing process when we started talking about the themes of the songs. My daughter is now 16 months and signs about 8-10 words while singing the songs and has learned so much new vocabulary in Spanish. The songs and parenting advice have become permanent aspects of our daily lives (my nephews/siblings/parents even know the songs too!) I highly recommend Mi Casa Es Tu Casa to everyone! (Note: the classes bit pricey, although average for music classes in the area, so I would have appreciated a payment plan option. However, if you commit to attending all classes or completing make-ups, attend the additional events or workshops, engage in the newsletters, and make the songs/Spanish/baby sign/parenting advice part of your daily lives, it's so worth it!) read more

This review is loooong overdue. We have been with Mi Casa for over a year now. We started when my little one was just turning 2 months and he is now almost 16 months. I can't say enough positive things about this program and the teachers. We started going as a fun thing to do together to bond and to teach him Spanish. We got way more than just that. This program is so much more. We have bonded on so many levels and his understanding of Spanish blows me away daily, but his love for the music and the teachers is astonishing. We use the music all the time and he loves it. He can pick up his toys and put them away whenever we sign the cleaning song (which is amazing for a toddler). Whenever he's having a tough time or a rough day, we sing the songs and he's instantly happy and engaged. The music is a life saver if we're having a meltdown in the car - it can turn a screaming fit into a happy, laughing, wonderful car ride. On top of that, the wonderful teachers at Mi Casa constantly have tips for parenting, bonding with your children and are there to help you through any phase of parenting or life you might need. Included in enrollment is a one on one call with the teachers for any help you might need or someone to reach out and talk to. I speak from experience when I say these calls are invaluable. I have used my call every semester and have learned and grown as a parent and person from these wonderful moments to gain more perspective and expertise. Not only are they wonderful teachers, and musicians but Laura has a background in child psychological development and I trust her views and help implicitly. She has been there for us and helped me through some tough times and knowing you have that "Lifeline" is more than invaluable. We were with Mi Casa pre-pandemic and post-pandemic and I have to say, we are in awe of how they pivoted their business model and were able to keep their classes going through home learning with zoom and class materials. Our world was turned upside down and it's truly inspiring to watch them and to have a constant for our little one through these tough times. It has kept us all in good spirits. I'm a nanny, and I researched a lot of classes before deciding which one I should take my 1 month old (almost two months) little nanny kid to. After reading the reviews, I decided to give this a shot. I'm so glad my nanny family and I decided on this class. I knew we would be listening to a lot of wonderful kids Spanish songs - that much is obvious. What I didn't realize is how much Laura has thoroughly researched and developed a program that is not only fun, but educational. As someone who specializes in infant development, this was incredibly refreshing. She leads us all in songs that encourage bonding, eye tracking, gross/fine motor movement, social development...etc. She'll explain to the class by doing X movement, it's encouraging Y skill, all while keeping everyone engaged. In a class full of babies, she even noticed that my nanny baby was favoring one side of his head and having a bit of reluctance towards moving it the other way. She made a point to mention it to me - which I'm really glad, because I had been worried about it as well. She showed me some stretches I can do to help relax his muscles on his tense side, and even came by immediately after class to tell me of another one that she remembered. I repeat - she noticed one baby had been looking a certain direction for an extended amount of time. While teaching a class. That's amazing. Seriously, take the class! You won't regret it. read more

I cannot agree enough with what everyone has said! Laura the instructor is amazing! She has so much passion and enthusiasm for what she does. I was looking for a way to help my daughter pick up Spanish and just be exposed to it and this class hits that and so much more! From music basics to sign language. When you sign up you get a book with all the songs and a cd with the songs (she can also send you the files). The songs are catchy, fun, and educational. Classes are small and Laura gets to know each family. I love these classes so much and can't wait for my baby girl to continue growing with Laura! read more

Laura's classes are THE BEST. My daughter loves them, she sings the songs at home, she's learning Spanish, AND she now sings the "pick up toys" song and picks up all of her toys! Mama Canta is such a well designed program. My 17 months old and I had a lot of fun in class. After two classes, he would clap his hands to the rhythm of songs from the program. He would initiate for me to sign for him using ASL he learned from the class. After every class, my heart filled with happiness from fun music and knowing that my son is on his way to speak Spanish. It didn't seem like he interacted much in class but in the car, first thing, he would ask me to turn on the music from the class and at home he would dance to the music and other music too! My little one has LOVED attending these classes. The songs are great and the instructor, Laura, does an amazing job keeping their attention with props, lots of movement, singing and dancing. It's an added bonus that she incorporates sign language as well, which really resonates with my son since we use it some at home. We listen to the CD in the car of the music from the classes and it brings a smile to my son's face every time. This is such a fun baby music class! Bonus: it's a Spanish music class so I'm exposing my baby to another language while having fun! My baby is only 6 months but has been loving the class. She recognizes the songs when I sing/ hum them at home. I'm already seeing that I'm using more Spanish words at home with her, increasing her exposure as well as teaching a few songs/ words to my almost 5 year old (who is at school during the day). Laura, the instructor, is so energetic and keeps the room entertained and the babies engaged. Most of the kids are 1 to 3ish in my class, but there is also an infant class on a certain day. I have been taking my 16 month old daughter to "mi Casa es Tu Casa" classes since she was three months old. She has always been advanced developmentally, especially verbal and motor. I think the stimulation and enrichment that she gets in this music class has benefited her growth and happiness immensely. It is not only a great class for her, but also for me being able to socialize and share stories with other mothers and fathers. Being a first time mother, I have taken a lot from this class and get much joy from watching my daughter learn something new every week. Laura Bruce is an amazing instructor, full of child developmental knowledge that she shares with parents throughout the class, linking science with the particular activity we are taking part in; explaining what our child is taking away and how we can add to their experience through interaction and participation. Mi Casa Es Tu Casa - Spanish, Music, Fun for little ones. This is hands down one of the best investments you can make in your little one. They learn Spanish while simultaneously learning music, rhythm and dancing. My daughter was about 18 mos when we started and she loved it. The instructor/owner Laura Bruce is incredible. I was pregnant and she would even carry my toddler for some songs. Of course my girl fell in love with Laura too. We will definitely be taking another class this spring. The Mueller location is super easy to get to from our area. I have a degree in Spanish and I highly recommend this program for language acquisition as well as just good old fun and bonding with your little one. We've been taking our 1.5 year-old son since he was 1 and he absolutely loves this class!!! Laura is so talented and makes such a wonderful space for our children to explore musical instruments, sing, dance and learn Spanish at the same time. And it's heart warming to see how much she showers our kids with love! As an added bonus, before the class we couldn't find a way for our son to pick up his toys (or anything he grabs); now we just start singing the same mini-song they sing in class when it's time to return the musical instruments back to their boxes and... lo and behold, our son starts taking everything back to its place!! We chose a Saturday class so both parents and both kids, 4 year old and 19 month old could attend. This class starts the weekend off nicely with us paying full attention to both kids in a loving, fun, Spanish world of singing and games and dance. The instructor's body language, intonation, props and movement keeps both kids engaged happily. We like the space too, comfortable, very clean, easy to get to especially on the weekends. Love being able to read the words on a screen above the teacher's head and like learning the sign language signs. Kids really enjoy the cd in the car as well and call out favorites to play over and over again. Highly recommend whether Spanish speaking family or not (we speak and are working to get both kids there). read more

Such a great experience introducing my little one to both Spanish and music! The songs are easy to follow (even for those of us who don't know Spanish!) and are catchy and engaging for the children. I've learned some things, but most importantly my little one has grown and even knows the tunes outside of class (actually calming during crying spells and diaper changes ha). Mi Casa is such a wonderful mommy and me music class. I have been taking my daughter since she was 2 months old and she's 11 months now. She loves the class, loves the instructor, remembers songs. When she's being fussy if I start singing some of the songs to her from class she stops and smiles and claps! She has started saying "agua" too. I prefer the smaller class sizes, it makes them more intimate and helps keep the chaos of several children under control and helps you meet other mommies. My daughter loves this class so much and so do I! They offer a free demo and I highly recommend everyone take a class to experience it for themselves! So many of the songs are fun and interactive and can teach them Spanish and we sing and play them at home. My daughter adores them. You get a CD and a book with the lyrics to listen at home or in the car. We play the music at home when we're playing or sitting around. This class is more than just a music class they try to teach your children sign language, counting, Spanish, and strengthening their mouths and tongues to roll their r's in a way that's fun and doesn't feel like you're actually doing an exercise. We only just started taking Laura's class this winter. Laura is a wonderful instructor and clearly loves working with children. Our daughter (1 year old) has shown more interest in musical instruments since we started and loves the CD now. She starts dancing from the first song when we play the CD at home and enjoys when we sing them to her as well. We've been looking for ways to incorporate as much Spanish as possible and this is definitely a fantastic choice!! We hope to continue taking her classes and learning more songs to sing/dance to with our daughter.
