I was really nervous at first but Sara makes you feel comfortable in a relaxed learning environment. I have been taking the Intermediate class for two years and my Spanish has improved so much. I feel much more confident speaking Spanish and it's pretty fun chatting with others who are learning just like you. I started classes with Sara right before the coronavirus lockdown happened. So after the first class, it was all done online via zoom. At first I wasn't sure how well this format would work, but I completed the 8-week session and signed up right away for another 8-week session. The class is very conversation-based and I'm already feeling more confident about being able to use my Spanish on future trips to Mexico. Sara is a really great teacher and a nice person, and she was very accommodating about finding a class that would fit my availability. Sara is a very skilled teacher, very patient, and very good at balancing participation in class (getting everyone to participate equally). I took Sara's Spanish classes for about 5 months to prepare me for a Central America trip. Although I took Spanish in high school and college, I didn't retain much! Sara's classes (in addition to extra studying on my own) made me fairly conversational in just 5 months. I went to mi casita to do private classes on a certain day every week. due to my work schedule, I do not have a lot of free time, because I work 40-50 hrs a week, and my schedule varies. I wanted to go take private classes because I knew a college course wouldn't fit my schedule needs, plus I wanted to go at my own pace. At first the lesson were amazing, she is a great instructor and would have no problem teaching at university level. But my complaint was that I was paying quite a lot for private classes and she wasn't willing to accommodate to my schedule anymore. Because I missed a 2 classes due to work and an incident in my life, she BASICALLY SAID SHE WANTED TO GIVE AWAY MY CLASS TIME TO A DIFFERENT CLIENT ALL BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO MAKE MORE MONEY!! SHE DIDN'T CARE THAT ABOUT BEING LOYAL TO THE CUSTOMER THAT PAID SO MUCH IN THE BEGINNING. SHE ASKED IF SHE COULD MOVE THE CLASS TIME TO A DIFFERENT DAY! and I told her in the beginning that this is the only day I can do it, or I can do it early morning at 6am or 7am. But she wasn't willing to wake up that early to provide me my last 3 lessons, just so I get my moneys worth. and I can go find a another instructor who can appease to my schedule. so overall I WAS NOT REIMBURSED MY $200 FOR THE LAST 3 LESSONS THAT I DIDN'T GET. IF SHE WOULD HAVE HAVE JUST RETURNED THE MONEY, I WOULD HAVE LEFT ON GOOD TERMS. read more

Each one hour class is dedicated to a paragraph or conversational question you have written at home, new vocabulary, and various new verb conjugations in which Sara provides gentle correction and feedback. Sara was very kind, patient and professional. The classes are small and conversational based but she also builds specific lessons into each class. I enjoyed learning more about how to speak in past tense, which was never really covered in my high school Spanish classes in all four years. My children have been taking classes with Sara for more than a year now. Given that they only have class for 60 minutes a week, they've progressed a lot in a year. My children helped us with ordering food when we were in Chile (that was after seven months or so of lessons). Sara engages the children by reviewing what they learned frequently and she makes her classes fun with occasional celebrations (of say writing an entire Mother's Day card in Spanish). Sara's classes are exactly what you want from a language class, if you're looking to be more comfortable in conversations. I joined one of the intermediate classes, and there are enough opportunities for learning and "teaching moments" created just by having a small group (no more than 6) conversation so it never feels like work! Sara then supplements the remaining 30% of class with introductions of grammar concepts and or irregular verb uses, and gives us time to practice. I have been a student of Sara's for one year. My intention is to learn the language in depth and truly reach a level you would call "fluent". I practice at home, do my homework and listen to Spanish radio. I understand that learning a language takes years but within one year I have already learned how to use present, past and future tenses. My vocabulary is pretty well rounded so that I can express almost anything one way or another. Sara is a wonderful teacher! Her lessons are always two-part: grammar and conversation. During the grammar part she might introduce a new tense or way of expressing certain things within a topic range. Then we follow with conversations that she guides in the most helpful way, writing vocabulary down on the board as we practice our speaking and listening skills. I tried to sign up my kids for Spanish camps and after many attempts at contacting Sara she finally got back to me. We had a death in the family and had to change weeks at get a credit and it was the most unpleasant and unprofessional experience. She called me stupid and unreasonable and said she would credit my classes for 2 months only then I lost the money. I am in shock at this place. Won't stay in business very long. read more

I had a horrible experience with the teacher, Sara. Her response time was very slow in getting back to me, but that was ok. However, on the day that my little girl was supposed to come, we went to the address listed on the website. We called Sara, and she told us to come to a different address so we could come to class as it had started, so we did. When we arrived, she was hostile and would not allow my daughter in. She stood at the door and would not even let me, the parent, look in. She said where are your papers? I let her know I had emailed them twice to her. She still did not let us in the class, which we had signed up for, and would not let my disappointed toddler even participate after all the effort we made to get there. I do not understand why she would ask us to come to the new address just to kick us out. Her demeanor was hostile, aggressive, and very non-child oriented. Anyone who understands toddlers and young children would open the door with welcome arms. Sarah said she'd email me after kicking us out, which she ofcoarse never did. We are now looking at other inviting language classes as I do not trust such a hostile woman to teach my child without my presence. She might have been having a bad day, but it was a horrible experience either way for both my daughter and I. We attend all kinds of enrichment classes, and have never been treated this way. read more

Really inflexible, difficult, argumentative and POOR customer service. Probably the worst thing I have experienced with camps, classes and after school activities. I have kids ranging from 3-10 and this is not my first camp rodeo but certainly my last with this place. After several emails and calls, I finally got her on the phone and she was VERY difficult and yelling and arguing with ME the CUSTOMER. Wouldn't credit my account, only gave me the option to sign up for another camp..I mean the rules and the inflexibility..ridiculous when you have the most amazing camps and experiences around here..LOOK ELSEWHERE! I went to Sara during a week's vacation in Carlsbad. We scheduled 4 days of classes for 1.5 hr each. She was ready and prepared each day with varying areas for us to work on. When I first started with Sara, I did not know any Spanish. I met with her once a week, and after the first meeting, I was actually speaking and understanding some Spanish!
