They serve a killer poblano salsa, a strong margarita, a few different delicious mushroom appetizers and some other items that you don't normally see on other menus in the area (such as a meal served in a comal). One of my favorites is their spicy chicken fajitas - strips of chicken breast cooked perfectly and topped with their delicious poblano salsa. Yum. My mouth waters when I just think about it! My only complaints about this establishment are that their corn tortillas are thicker than I like and the service can be inconsistent. It can get kind of noisy too, so if you are looking for quiet dining you might want to come at an off time like mid-afternoon. Came in for lunch. The chips were warm and crunchy and the salsas were flavorful. Ordered the enchiladas verdes and was the perfect balance of chicken , cheese and salsa ! The salsa was not acidic or sour like other restaurants . The Taco Pirata was also delicious with crispy fajita , melted cheese and fresh avocado , onion and cilantro. Beer was not available and had to settle for another we didn't like. We asked for a quesadilla and were brought some empanadas. Third, choice of meat was good but limited on sides and options to accompany your steak. Lastly extremely overpriced for the type of service and quality. A good option for Mexican food, but not quite on the "Best of Brownsville" list. Plenty of options on the menu to choose from for both food and drinks (they have a pretty large bar area with big screen TVs in case you want to watch a game). My favorite appetizer was the queso flameado (~$10) and they do it well- baked and broiled right on the skillet! For entrees, wife and I enjoyed the fajitas tradicionales (~$15), which also comes in a skillet with grilled onions and frijoles charros on the side. We weren't too pleased with the Tlalpeño soup (~$8), as it lacked spice and seemed more like a chicken tortilla soup. I'd come back to MP to try a few other options on my next visit. read more

I'm going to be honest, the food is great here. The service is terrible. You have to ask repeatedly for a refill of salsa or a drink. The wait staff are busy chatting amongst each other every time I have been there. I enjoy eating their big fajita plate with charro beans. I'm not crazy about any of their drinks. The food was delicious!! I recommend getting the parrillada pueblito. The service was one of the best if not the best service I've ever had in any restaurant. Went there to dine tonight and food tasted like it was cooked previously and warmed up when we arrived. Chicken and fajitas were tough and very dry, tortilla holder reeked of mildew. Service was okay he brought the food we paid for to the table, no refills are offered. The wait staff was busy talking to kitchen staff or bartender. We had to call him to refill empty glasses. So I've been meaning to come here since my last trip to Brownsville, it's close to my hotel and open for breakfast. I decided to stop by for my last breakfast before I head home this time. This is probably not my definitive review on the subject, I'll have to come back sometime later in the day and try the more traditional Mexican cuisine. That said, the restaurant itself is charming inside. Service was average. I went with the hot cakes, with bacon and eggs. On the downside, they were out of bacon. (How does that happen, it only takes a few minutes to fry a strip of bacon. But, anyway.) The scrambled eggs were competently executed and the hot cakes were delicious, though I will never understand why restaurants in general think it's appropriate to serve pancakes with nearly-frozen butter. I think they have potential but I'd be hard-pressed to recommend them on the basis of this visit. read more

My first experience here. CoronaVirus changes aside... so far I'm not impressed. I ordered iced tea half sweet, half unsweetened and it tastes a bit sour. I've been sitting here nearly 10 minutes and have no chips yet after my server asked if I'd like some. The chips finally came AFTER my entree. I ordered chicken flautas. Seems easy enough. The chicken tasted as if it were boiled in plain water with no seasoning at all. Overall bland and unexciting. My server, an older gent, never came to check on me until I was done eating. I asked for my check and it was promptly provided and he walked away. There's no "check out station" so the servers have to run the card and being it back to you. I had to flag down another server to get this accomplished. Mind you, it's noon on a Saturday and I'm the ONLY customer in the restaurant. VERY disappointed is an understatement! He finally came back and we asked him for sugar and creamer, 5 minutes later we get it. He didn't bring us the regular sugar just that pink stuff, so we had to ask for that too. Later, we finally put in our order, no pozole, or barbacoa, it was the weekend too. Well to skip ahead to our food, because the service was already horrible, the food was cold, because we had our food before our son had his, and we weren't going to eat without his food being brought out and have him eating first. 5 minutes after our food comes out, my sons comes out, and only part of it at that. He had pancakes and bacon. No bacon. Food had no flavor, portions were small for the price. Will never come back to this place again. read more

Have a few suggestions for restaurant management. We walked in and they have a huge entrance. I would suggest to have the host at the entrance for sitting. We look like idiots standing waiting for someone to clean a table when there are lots of empty tables. A man came to take the drinks but didn't get everyone's so he was back and forth. Finally we all have all our drinks and he said the waiter will be right with you after 10 minutes. We ordered 2 order of pancakes and huevos a tu gusto and that took about 20 minutes. People next to us were there before us and they were barely getting their pancakes. So how long does it take for pancakes? Food was really good and guess it was worth the wait. I got food poisoning from mi pueblito. We ordered the parrillada, it came with grilled chicken. I ate the chicken and noticed it was raw. I tell the waiter and he brings another grilled chicken and it's also raw. We send it back and the waiter brings out another one. We ended up not eating it. When the waiter brings the tab, it's full price. I tell the waiter he should discount the chicken. He takes out 10 dlls and we payed and left. The next day I could not go to work. I got fever and cramps all over my body and felt body aches all day. I didn't eat for almost 2 days because everything I ate I vomited. I vowed to never go to this place again. Finally they brought flour fresh flour tortillas was the were just to told us they didn't have flour because they were too busy and never explained. We walked out when the second waiter pretended to be the manager ( I asked for manager three times but I got the real manager when started to walk out). We came here because the general manager of our hotel highly recommended it. We then read the reviews on Yelp and Google before coming in. Re: the reviews that complain about service: don't be a victim. Get somebody's attention. The food was great. Granted, we stopped in for happy hour and only had Chorizo Fundito, Nopales Asados, chips, salsas, and margaritas. If the rest of the food was as good as what we had, wow!
