    A hair from BBQ Chicken

I found a hair in my chicken and when I showed the waitress, she simply said oh the chefs bald, when the hair was clearly hers crumbled up the napkin threw it away and made me pay full price. Don't eat here unless you want to be treated like shit.

This place is not getting the praise it deserves. The food here is fantastic! A lot of my friends dismiss this place due to the name. Despite the name they have a wide selection on their menu. I have tried the fajitas, brisket, chicken, and sausage. All were savory. My friends have ordered the burgers and love them. Heck they even have Nachos and Caldo de Res. I go there at least once a week and you should defenitly check it out. Update: I forgot to mention how friendly the service is there. Good service should always be recognized.

I came here for a late lunch and ordered the Plato Perron. There was so much food that I literally ended up taking most of it with me. It's a great value for the price. The brisket was my favorite, and I'm usually not a huge fan of brisket. It was super soft and flavorful. The place wasn't all that crowded, so service was quick and attentive. I was very pleased.

I don't recommend this place the waitress was rude and the food was disgusting. The rice looked like it was reheated and then left out for a long time. The sausage was was all burned and hard.

Chicken Run. Lunch with friends. Great place food, prices, clean, polite. Great service. Went back two days later for dinner with hubby. Bad deal. We had to walk out. Stick to lunch.

    Meal for two

Great food. Ordered the meal for 2 which was $17.99 I believe. Definitely filling and really good too.

Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed- it appears that your employee can't even handle or try to resolve or get a hold of the owners to get an issue resolved - I ordered tostadas asked specifically that you not put white cheese as I don't eat white cheese requested yellow cheese as I always do !! But still they came with white cheese ., while I waited for Vanessa to call back after 15 minutes o had to call her back only for her to tell me she can't get a hold of either of the owners suggested I call back in 30 minutes- this is is laughable to say the least here all while my guests has all ready ate there meal ... then she suggested I go pick it up !! Upon calling to advise of the mistake she stated it wasn't her fault there was nothing she could do , the other employee had just left and she had just arrived what a crock of sorry excuses!!! UPDATE !! called chicken run back to see if Vanessa got a hold of owners she stated she did - owners don't seem to care to much , just goes to show why some businesses suffer , it's really sad to say the least - they will most likely end up blaming employees for being careless with their business. They should not expect their employees to run their establishment for them!!!

Let's start with the soup. A $2.99 Frijoles Special bowl that tasted like somebody's abuela has been guarding this recipe since the Aztecs. Rich broth, perfect seasoning, actual depth of flavor. Meanwhile my lemonade cost 10 cents less than the soup which tells you EVERYTHING about how real this place is. The tacos? There are 7 types of tacos so we ended up ordering one of each type LOL including the intestines one. Ridiculously good and ridiculously cheap. $1.79-3.29. You know how some restaurants give you one sad tortilla and a spoonful of meat? Not here. These tacos come correct, juicy, flavorful, generous portions, fresh tortillas, and salsa that lets you know it's alive. I could feel the love going into these 7 tacos for real. Real border-town flavor. Zero tourist traps, zero nonsense. Everything tasted fresh, fast, and made with actual pride. No shortcuts, no gimmicks, no "Instagram aesthetic." Just real food for real people at prices that make you question every taco you've ever ordered north of San Antonio. Service was friendly, food came out fast, and the whole vibe feels like a community spot where locals have been eating for years. If you want authentic Mexican food without getting scammed by trendy taco bars, this is THE place. I'd drive back to Brownsville just for another bowl of that soup.

From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warmth and enthusiasm that set the tone for an exceptional evening. Let's talk about the food: the grilled octopus was nothing short of perfection--expertly charred on the outside, tender on the inside, and paired beautifully with fresh, vibrant microgreens. Every bite was a masterclass in balance and flavor, showcasing the kind of culinary skill that can only come from recipes passed down through generations. The authentic Mexican flavors here are deeply rooted in tradition, yet elevated with a modern touch. It's clear the chef-owner has honed their craft under Michelin-starred mentors. That level of expertise comes through in every dish--from the nuanced seasoning to the thoughtful plating. And then there's the drink: La Paloma de Mi Corazón--hands down one of the most refreshing, clean-tasting cocktails I've ever had. Bartender Benito is a true artist behind the bar, blending flavors with precision and passion. He absolutely rocked that drink! The customer service was exceptional throughout. Attentive without being overbearing, every staff member made us feel genuinely cared for. It's rare to find a restaurant where both the front and back of house operate in perfect harmony. Whether you're a local foodie or just passing through, this place is a must-visit. Authentic, elevated, and unforgettable. Can't wait to come back. The most important part is that if you ask for water you will get FIGI water because Brownsville water has contaminants that are EPA approved but in the long run not safe.
