I went from a what I thought was a first some what good experience to a very traumatic experience for my son and I. I will never return or suggest this place. I took my son because I was told I had to bring him in to remove a cavity. Not only was the dentist Gabriela Rolland super late but she was extremely rude about it and not at all apologetic. she had my son on laughing Gas for an extremely long time waiting on her. This is where things took a turn for worse as my son laid on the table he would laugh from the gas and she would continuously yell at him to be quiet and stop moving. I tried to keep calm even though I grew angrier inside. At one point she told me that if he couldn't stop laughing that she wasn't going to work with him and that she was going to have to reschedule. It felt like she had better things to do and we were waisting her time. I explained that if he wasn't on laughing gas that maybe he wouldn't laugh, she then proceeded to tuck my child into a blanket then jumped on the table and laid on my son she said that I needed to do what she was doing so that he could stay still. I looked at her and asked to quickly remove herself since he's a little child and an adult body could suffocate him. I could tell that she was extremely bothered that I wasn't going to. She should not be working with children if she's not going to have patience. Don't let the pretty office fool you. Run Thankfully my sons new dentistry has the kindest dentist and staff. read more

One of My kids has sensory issues, they didn't care, the hygienist wasn't gentle, he was screaming and she never gave him a break. When he got up his glandles were swollen so bad that I had to run to hospital. Before procedure they said everything was cover for my insurance, and 6 months later they said that I had to pay for treatment that was done 6 months ago. I call the insurance and they said everything was cover. So,I call them back to let them know that everything was paid by insurance, and there was no reason that I have to be charge, and they said that they know, but they have made a mistake and I have to pay for it because they did the treatment anyways. I have been taking my two sons for many years. Everyone I have ever talked to upon entry is very friendly. The doctor has always been nice and friendly with my kids and I. The lady's that do the cleaning and X-rays have always been great. The place is beautiful and clean. The only bad thing I have to say is the answering of the phone. I have had to reschedule appointments and you can be calling them all day and they won't answer. Leave them messages and they will call you two days later. read more

Gabriela Rolland-Asensi is THE most rude dentist ( adult or pediatric I have ever encountered) She strapped my child from head to toe to a back board immobilizing her....she was not scared at all until that. I called the Florida Dental Association and they said this is a barbaric practice that they do not condone. I also checked with multiple dentists in the community and they also said "no way" no one does this and can be traumatic for the child in itself and it was.....I would never recommend this dentist To anyone. my son has a cavity that needs to be filled (I was told by the dentist). He's only seven, and as a parent, this is a first for me. I talked to her/asked her questions about the procedure which she told me required anesthesia, laughing gas, and a crown. Since the cavity is a baby tooth, I am a little nervous and unsure about getting such work done. She talked to me in a very rude and condescending way... RED FLAG. I will be taking me son somewhere else. This office excepts Medicaid and is in a nice area, probably why they have so many patients. Be prepared to wait a least an hour and for a dentist to talk rudely to you. Also, street parking can be a challenge here. read more

The doctor is rough. She doesn't seem friendly at all. The last time I was there for my 3 year olds cleaning 7 months ago and they strapped him down. I wasn't sure if this was normal procedure. As many have mentioned, this gets a one star because there is nothing less. The location, office, atmosphere, and staff are great. The Doctor on the otherhand was rude, condosending, and should re evaluate if she wants to work with kids. My son (5yr old)waiting one whole hour with the gas mask(she was held up or something) so he started to get inpatient and ask when the DR was coming. Me and the assistsnt kept talking to him to keep him calm. As soon as she walks in she is fussing at him because his legs were swinging ( well yeah hes only been on that reclined chair for an hour and on laughing gas). She speaks to him like I would if I were reprimanding my child at home. About ten minutes into the cavity filling he starts to move, I say " adrian, please stay still its almost over" she looks over at me and says " let me be the one to do the talking here please" For the sake of my son getting the procedure finished I kept my mouth shut and let his mom know that this is the last time that any of the kids come to this dentist. Extremely rude and she should check her behavior. One day shes going to catch a parent on a bad day. I would not recommend to anyone and we will not be returning. read more

Once again, I'm grateful to the whole staff for an outstanding experience from the moment I set the appointment until the moment I left the office. Each person acknowledged my presence with a smile. The manager and staff was very attentive which calmed my nerves since my 8 year old was going to need an extraction. Dr Rolland DMD is the only Pediatric Dentist I trust when dental issues arise with my son. She's extremely gentle, skilled and very knowledgeable...providing the best options for the task. I highly recommend her and amazing staff. Their team is consistent and in sync when it comes providing a great experience in every area...I would give them a 10 stars if I could! My child have autism and I know the dentist has hard time to exam and clean his teeth. I make appointment with Miami Children Smile a month ahead every times. I have to pay over $1,000 for his teeth cleaning service because Miami Children Smile said the insurance won't pay for it. It's fine I pay. Last time I had to take my kid home because the nurse described low dose and they couldn't perform the cleaning. The Dentist said to me for the next appointment he need stronger pills to calm him down. The Dentist also reminded me that the day before I take my child to appointment I have to go to the pharmacy to pickup his pills. Last night I went to Walgreen where the pills supposed to be ready picked up. There was no description had been sent from the Dentist. This morning I didn't take him to the Dentist because I know I will end up taking him home like last time. Furthermore, they refuse to reschedule for him because he is AUTISTIC KID has missed the appointment by the nurses mistake not to send the description to the pharmacy. Miami Children Smile is discriminated DISABLED KIDS. This place should be SHUT DOWN for their own good. read more

I took my daughter to this dentist for a while to do her usual check ups, but I never liked her unkind treatment with kids and parents (at least that was my experience). Her sarcasm and dislike got me tired and I moved to another place. I think Dr. Rolland Asensi should rethink her attitude with her patients. Staff great but dentist Gabrielle Rude and unprofessional, not nice and not good with kids. Lacks patience would rather drug up your kid with valium and quick to diagnose your kid with anxiety, that was her excuse for wanting to give my son valium before a procedure on top of the normal drugs already used during procedures and this was based on one visit were my son was having a bad day. We've been going to her for years and never had and issue with behavior and because of that one instance she diagnose my kid with anxiety. She didn't even give a choice but instead demanded that he take the valium if not she would not see him. Be careful with her if you still decide to go with her. Don't forget you are the parent and no one know your kid better than you. read more

We have been coming to see Dr. Rolland since she was working with Mainstreet... We were thrilled when she opened her own practice. She has been absolutely amazing in caring for both of my children, especially my 15-year, who has Down syndrome and multiple heart surgeries. She treats each of them as an individual and makes sure that she addresses any of THEIR concerns or fears. I like that she uses the latest technology and is a very progressive doctor. I would be careful of those one-star reviews, as they seem to all come from people with no other reviews or followers... hmmmmm... She is a "matter of fact" kind of person, who tells it like it is. If you are too delicate to be told some unpleasant truths or too overbearing to let them do their work, then you will be offended and unhappy... She is one of the best, so the wait will be longer than most, but they work hard to get everyone seen in an appropriate time. If you have any special needs or concerns, let them know - they will ALWAYS accommodate your needs.. Give them a try! read more

I've been here twice with my children and would never again. I feel so bad for the people that have to work with this dentist. She is rude, abrasive, demeaning, and feels the need to share her opinion on other medical specialties she herself admits are not hers. She speaks down to parents and is rather insulting. The first time I met her I got turned off by her "bedside manner" but nothing like the second and last time I was there. No idea how she keeps patients. My daughter has had multiple heart surgeries and has some serious anxiety. The first visit she hid under a chair and was terrified ( and this was only an assessment examination, no work to be done) I was so impressed at how Dr Roland and her staff handled this situation. She was firm with me to stay out of it, which definitely bruisesd my ego at first, but once I was able to let her take over, it was miraculous. She had patience and honesty and an expertise that could not be mistaken. She was able to calm my daughter down, even though it took some time and I'm sure she has many other patients, she genuinely cared. My daughter goes in now with great trust and even excitement because she feels comfortable cared for and safe. Thank you Dr Rolland and all the wonderful staff there. It does not bother me to wait there ( never more than 1/2 hour yet, as I know first hand how challenging it is to deal with not only the children but their parents too. Gold Medal to the staff. If you are looking for a children's dentist who is honest and is not looking to sedate your kid to drill every small cavity this is the place to go. The dentist here is the head of dentistry at Miami Children's and is very informative. She treats cavities medically and really assesses the need for dental work and how it would benefit the patient. She definitely holds the parents accountable and although that may seem like she's abrasive, it's the reality of the situation. I definitely will be coming regularly here with my kids. read more

My 6 year old son went in for a filling and she didn't properly evaluate his anxiety level and didn't make sure he properly breathing in the gas. He has popped blood vessels around his eyes from crying so hard. She ended up getting on top of my son and straddling him and telling him that she was in control and he needs to stop crying or she will not get off of him. What professional straddles a 6 year old boy and threatens him. I was in such shock I didn't know what to do. I will forever regret bringing him there. I just had a discussion with him about a claim that he has to pass to my insurance, and he hung the phone on me. After taking my son there for almost 4 years, I'M NOT GOING THERE anymore. I am utterly disappointed and in shock at what occurred today. Both of my children have attended this practice with Dr. Gabriela Roland- Asensi for many years now. The staff has always been courteous, the facilities clean and appointments quick. Two months ago however, my son got nervous and began tearing up when we went for a filling. Immediately and quite surprisingly (for someone choosing to work with children) the dentist became impatient and said "we're not doing it". She then began to write a prescription for Valium. Instead of reassuring my son, her patient for many years, and explaining the procedure or giving us some time and stepping out for a moment she promptly ended the appointment. Fast forward to today when my son is in pain (because of his cavity) and ready to do what is needed because we have discussed it and prepped him as much as we could have. My husband even took him this time (he always acts tougher with dad) Dr. Rolland refused to perform the procedure without him being medicated. She didn't even as much see my son before to see how he was doing this time. She then proceeded, unprofessionally might I add to ask if my husband had a "magic wand" that would keep him calm today. It is unbelievable how an educated person can still be uneducated. This doctor has reached the end of her career. When someone can only theorize and not put to practice REAL connections with their patients and then claim to be an expert in pediatric dentistry??Give me a break! She runs a factory and anyone slowing down her assembly line should surely be drugged up for her to work even faster. I am sickened and disgusted by her behavior. To top it, she proceeded to attempt to diagnosis my child with anxiety to validate her need to provide him with Valium. Luckily, this city is filled with courteous, clean, prompt and real dentists who enjoy working and educating children about their oral hygiene. I will NEVER go there again. Update to previous rating, there is no value of the patients' time AT ALL! I have been taking my children here for the last 4 years and it has continually gotten worse. They change who they accept for insurance companies more often than I've seen at other dentists offices and if you happen to be on one of the dripped plans you don't find out until you arrive at your scheduled appointment. Great dentist. I really like her. The problem is that when you claim to be a dentist that works with kids on the spectrum, why would you over book? Kids on the spectrum do not do well with waiting! I had a 10am appointment for my son. I had spoken to the office staff two days prior to confirm. When I walked in, there were 8 children in the waiting room with their parents and I was told that there were 4 ahead of my son. I understand that appointments sometimes run over and that they take their time with children so that they don't have a bad experience and I also understand that August is a busy month with everyone going back to school, but don't schedule them so tightly that you are running that far behind. I was not willing to wait more than 1/2 hour and they could not estimate how long it would be, so we left and I cannot comment on how the staff and dentist are. read more

Let me start saying that my first impression was not at all great with Dr. Rolland. She is great at what she does but is rude if you ask certain questions... I mean, who knows your kid more than you do, right? She can be a great dentist but she does not know your child. She tell parents to shush and not to speak when she is speaking. She has a terrible personality and thinks she is all that but... she did a great work on my kids and it was quick as well... so I just don't talk to her and let her do her thing. For any parent or caregiver that is looking for a pediatric dentist, look no further. I'd like to share my experience with you. I have taken my three children to Dr. Rolland at Miami Children's Smiles since they were babies. My youngest child, who is now 8, suffers from anxiety and going to the dentist can trigger it. This morning I took her to MCS for pain in her tooth. This immediately brought out tears and panic. I am writing this to let you know how truly EXCEPTIONAL Dr. Rolland is. She took the time to calm my child, validated her fears, showed her breathing exercises and even sang to her while she took impressions! I was completely blown away by this. My daughter was mesmerized and immediately quieted. It was the "Dentist Whisperer" at work. Dr. Rolland truly cares about her patients and their families. Her dental hygienists are all incredible, especially Monica. Her offices are bright, fun, efficient and very clean. I can't say enough about this practice. My family is committed to Miami Children's Smiles! read more
