Hey South Florida, did you know that you can get tickets to a professional sports game in this town…read morethat don't cost an arm and a leg? I know, it's not Heat, Dolphins, Marlins, or even Panthers. It's the Florida Launch, South Florida's own professional lacrosse team. Playing eight home games a season at FAU in Boca, tickets can be well below twenty dollars a piece. Not familiar with lacrosse? In many ways it is the oldest and newest sport around. Lacrosse was played by Native American Iroquois in the Northeastern United States. At the same time it is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States right now, especially in youth athletics. It seems that every new person I meet has their kid in lacrosse! I think you have to actually watch a lacrosse game to appreciate it. The kids love it because they get to pass the ball with big sticks. It has elements of soccer and hockey. It is fast and physical, usually with more scoring than hockey and baseball. The Launch, started by Casey Powell, one of the best lacrosse players ever, had their inaugural season in 2014. The crowds have definitely increased this year, although I can't say they are filling half of lower bowl at the FAU stadium. It is a fun family event for the kids and anyone who lives or is interested in the game. I am always impressed that the the players always take lots of time to sign autographs after the games. Sometimes they can be there for an hour signing the kids' balls, hats, shirts, and even sticks! It certainly makes the kids even more enthusiastic about coming to the games and gives the whole experience a true hometown, warm, "feel good" experience. Perhaps some of our other professional sports teams could learn from that! The Launch has done a better job of marketing this year with ticket packages and youth clinics. Believe it or not you can check out their games and other MLL games on ESPN! If you like what you see, you may want to come and check out a game in person. There are two more games left for the season...and then there is always next year!

I had such a good time at this place. To get into the petting zoo for an adult it's $10 and then…read moreyou have to pay additional for food to feed to the animals. My total for two adults plus animal food was about $36 because I got one of each food! The pizza was so good. It is not included in your admission, so be prepared to spend money. But if you're going just to pet the animals, it is definitely such a cheap experience and I would not trade this experience for the world. This same experience in my hometown probably would've been upwards $150. The only additional thing you have to pay for animal-wise is the cows. Which will run you $5 for five minutes or $10 for 10 minutes. Just do it, they're perfect. There are two cows they are so sweet. They are named John and Boots. You also get to hold the bunnies for free. You get to feed the goats for free and you get to go into their enclosures and literally just hang out with goats for like 10 minutes. It's all self paced too! Make sure you try the pizza place as well it was elite! Only downside about this place was that there weren't any reptiles :( Overall, 1000/10 can't wait to come back to Florida and visit again next year!

This place is so fun, and bizarre! I struggle with this Yelp listing because this is one part of a…read moretrio of spaces, with a wonderland out the backdoor. The interior storefront is part ice cream store, part candy shop, and part open seating. It connects directly to Bambini's pizzeria, which is takeout only. However, the open seating is the perfect spot to eat that pizza. Old fashioned looking booths and tables are made even more fun with a ceiling full of vintage toys and interesting items. My kids spent the whole time pointing at things they saw. In the front, there is a table with paper products and pizza fixings. You don't have to eat inside though - there is also eating outside. A small backdoor is the secret entrance to their amazing backyard space- full of tropical plants, statues, some covered tables (although not covered during heavy rain). To go beyond this, you must pay a fee- to see their animals. A very old school florida spot! It was raining so we weren't able to go this time, but my kids loved looking at all the vintage things and drooling over a million candies, that it was fun just being there.
