Your articles are riveting, covering all aspects of Miami life, from local politics to nightlife, from plastic surgery scammers to neighborhood improvements/renovations. You make sure to put it all out there for the public to see, no holds barred. I appreciate and admire your gutsiness in providing these unbiased articles. Whenever I happen to pass one of the Miami New Times dispensers and see a new edition, I grab one. I enjoy the Riptide section, the fact that this publication features stories that some of the major media outlets in our city won't touch or choose not to cover, and I also make it a point to read Dan Savage's "Savage Love" column; It's usually good for a chuckle, and hey, if you're looking for ideas to use in the bedroom or to expand your sexual horizons, there's no better reference as people literally write in for advice/help with anything/everything dealing with all things intimate and/or kinky. This publication also gives a great rundown of what's available to do throughout our area in the coming days, and also critiques restaurants and other establishments. The annual "best of" edition is a list of this city's finest establishments in various categories. The "best of" edition always gives me a few ideas for new places to try, and if you check out the letters to the editor for a few weeks after the "best of" edition comes out, you'll get even more ideas as readers write in with their suggestions as well. read more

The gritty, free alternative paper in the area, the New Times covers/analyzes MIami politics, people, and events from a different perspective from the big local media. It's events listings are enormous and can get you pounding the pavement looking for new places to eat/drink/dance at. It talks about local politics and fills you on the back story on politicians. Very tabloid. example: Former politician Arthur Teele's suicide was said to be partly induced by stress induced by The New Times and later the Miami Herald's constant investigations into his past business deals. Method of death? Blowing his head off in the Miami Herald's lobby. I also enjoy reading the "Savage Love" columnist, Dan Savage, for all the kinky sex letters he gets from readers. The New Times "Best Of" issue is exhaustive and I usually pick a few places to visit based on their winners. Before Yelp, the New Times was a good place to pick places to go to. Just 1 star off for their pages filled with the porn ads. :) read more

I love the fact that this free publication includes lots of local tidbits and events, including performances and new restaurants popping up, that we otherwise would not know about. It helps me become informed of what happens in the county, be it political, or the latest Floridabulous happening, which I can then share with my friends, and they're always so surprised about how much random stuff I know! Some of their publications have been groundbreaking, including the investigational pieces, and they have won awards for that. They were the first to bring about attention to the Biogenesis scandal involving Alex Rodriguez and other athletes, for example. I also enjoy reading the letters to the editor, I just wish they hadn't done away with Dan Savage's "Savage Love" column some years back, because it was quite entertaining, and even educational. Another thing I am disappointed about is the fact that unless you have a Facebook account, you can no longer post comments on any of the articles (the best of which are chosen to be printed in the letters to the editor section). They used to allow Disqus accounts, but now it is solely Facebook. I do not use Facebook and refuse to create an account, just to post comments, but there was no reason to move away from the Disqus format and into a Facebook only format. At least allow people on both platforms to post comments! These days, for some reason, it is becoming extremely hard to get your hands on a copy of the New Times. They used to deliver to my condo building, but not anymore, and all the local dispensers are already empty by Thursday evening. I have been known to drive miles out of my way just to pick up a copy. I am not sure if they are just not stocking the dispensers to full capacity anymore or suddenly all of Miami has become literate (I am thinking it's the former, considering the city in question...). I don't know if anyone who works at the publication will be reading my review and take notice, but I do have another suggestion, and that is to post the weekend's events a week prior. By the time I can get a copy of the publication on a Saturday evening or on a Sunday, the events for that weekend are already over, and disappointment sets in. The publication comes out on Thursday and most people plan their weekend a week (or more) in advance. If they would post the weekend's events a week ahead of time, at least it would give people a week to plan their upcoming weekend. This is especially true of concerts and limited time museum exhibits. Surely, I am not alone in this. read more

I have been a fan of this weekly publication for many years now. As a guide to local events and weekend planning, there is no equal. It also has it's finger on the pulse of the music scene here in South Florida, which as a music devotee I am truly thankful. However, I decided to write a yelp review today, after being pleasantly surprised last week when I called the circulation desk for copies of a back issue. Working in public relations, I deal with a multitude of publications on a regular basis. Never have I encountered anyone to go above and beyond in assisting us with acquiring additional back copies. The article we were searching for was controversial and timely. I just thought you all deserved a little grateful praise! read more

I took the poor decision to advertise on the so call new times magazine, I made the mistake of signing a contract for 6 long month, I tried to negotiate to get out of the contract even if I had to pay an extra, well they made it so difficult by offering to triple the amount as a penalty. They would charge my bank account even without sending a new check, the story is long but I'll try to make it shorter. Despite my struggle with this advertising in 6 month I never got a lead from these weekly ads and they supposedly print 50K plus magazine every week. This was a total waste of money and time, don't believe this "mass advertising" if you think your business is in the hole and you think it will get better by placing an ad here think again. read more

They deserve 0 stars and they are so bad on so many levels. After expiration of our contract they continued charging our credit card for 10 more weeks, so they ended up owing us $5000 and it was 3 weeks until we got our money back. They haven't delivered what they promised in our contract and still owe us marketing that was included in the contract. Lazy, unprofessional and they just collect money and don't do anything. Do not work with this company. They have no idea what are they doing and they will make you sign a 6 months contract to take your money and DO NOTHInG other than collect the money. They promised me to fix the marketing problems I had on my site and never did. They actually put a virus on my website and changed my company number to a different business in key largo. I had 0 phone calls for over two weeks until I ( not them) figured out what was the problem. They never apologize or gave me a discount for the major financial loss I had. After Having no results and losing lots of clients, j decided to terminate their services after 5 months and OH BOY! Be ready! This is the only time I actually heard from the CEO of the company. They continued collecting the money from my card, despite the fact I said I was firing them and I wasn't paying for services not rendered. I read the column "Creating Cyborgs" and I have an interest in prothesis, since I have a brother who's paralyzed. I've started to read a book on how to program differential equations on a computer.
