I have to say that the paper adds such value to the neighborhood by chronicling the news of the neighborhoods as well as listing shops and restaurants. Yes, there's the Miami Herald for city reporting, but this is a community newspaper. Now that I live in a house I actually have the privilege of having it delivered to my house for free! I always look forward to reading through the paper and learning about what's happening and what's new. Some of the writing could be better, but I think they are doing a great job for being a small community paper. I have to imagine that it's tough if all of your revenue is based on ads (since the paper itself is free).

I had to come to their location in Miramar to pick up concert tickets I won through 105.9's…read morestation. It was confusing because iHeart Media I guess oversees several stations in the area. The location is hidden, down a long street. Luckily I found it with my google maps! I found parking right in front of the entrance. I walked in and was overwhelmed how big the lobby was. It was also very clean and modern looking. I was the only one there so I was greeted right away by the woman at the desk. She was very friendly and offered her assistance. I informed her I was picking up concert tickets from 105.9. She stopped what she was doing and went to search for them. I was then given a form to fill out while she did her paperwork. She was approached by another employee about another task and she took care of that as well. I was given my tickets and she told me to enjoy and have a nice day. She was one of the friendliest people I have met in a while! I have visited another station to pick up tickets and the girl was the total opposite so this experience was refreshing. Art is important. Public radio is important. I'm so pleased that there's an outlet like 88.9 WDNA that combine the two into relaxing, inspiring, soul-lifting music. Jazz is as American as apple pie and as traditional an art form as we know in these United States. As a former resident of New Orleans and Chicago, I can honestly say that listening to jazz -- really, actively listening, feeling and absorbing jazz -- is a musical treat that, for me, has no equal. The programming highlights both local, national and international versions of the art form and, as a listener, it's thrilling to meditate on all the variations on a theme. We are more alike than unalike. In addition to the groovy tunes coming from the dial, the physical studio space is also rather impressive. The main room houses a rotation collection of art pieces that educate and entertain. When I was there, they were wrapping up an interactive exhibit where one could press a button and hear music/biography of the musician wt which he gazed. I really enjoyed it primarily because of Celia Cruz. How one can look at a picture of that woman or hear her music and not smile, dance and slap someone (just because; azucar!), I don't know. Leaving the main room, I was fortunate to get a tour of the music collection and studios at the station. I have long been enamored of radio and seeing the volumes of CDs, records and tapes and thinking about their importance to not only the world of music, but culture, history, celebration, and peace... it's pretty overwhelming. Become an active global citizen by participating in the wonders of local music. It's good for the soul.

Everyone seemed to be very nice and friendly. I was seated at the front reception for a bit and then escorted to the green room. Overall this was a lovely experience and I just wanted to express that no matter the reason you are here for you will be treated nicely. I am sure there is a lot of different things that go on in here but my experience was great.
