I've heard of…read moreSunset Lakes Community Center but I never actually came all the way out here until I enrolled my daughter in a volleyball clinic. This community center has everything you could want for its local community. This development is fairly new, less than 5 years old and already is a great facility to the surrounding area. Been here a month and already I have met parents from Miami Lakes, Pembroke Pines, and Weston who come here specifically for their quality programs and awesome staff/coaches. This community center has all things athletics Volleyball, soccer, indoor/outdoor basketball, weightlifting, aerobics classes, karate, and a senior center full of activities to occupy your time. You need to pay in order to use the gym which technically speaking is just as competitive to pay a regular gym member at LA Fitness. All sports and activities are open to everyone not just Miramar residents. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. Any questions regarding summer camps, sports, or events everyone is very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Even the maintenance man takes pride on how clean and how great this facility is. Very much appreciated by everyone.

In fact, it is also a voting precinct with very sociable, respectful ladies with good senses of humor - it is always a treat to check in and vote there. The building is next to the Miramar Police Station for the west side of town on SW 186 Ave., and Fire Station 100 (which fronts SW 184 Ave.), as well as very close (steps) to a church and 2 schools. A small subdivision which is part of Sunset Lakes HOA, consists of townhouses, some with garages, and you can't beat the location next door to the Shoppes of Sunset Lakes - Publix, Wells Fargo, Montessori, 7-11 gas station with carwash, fantastic vet - Dr. Schooley - nail salon, barber shop, dry cleaner, take out Chinese, Matteli's (small but great to have Italian food back in our area), large Sushi place also with very nice outdoor seating, State Farm, judo studio, and sorry cannot remember all the places there! And a fairly new (small) mini park due north of the elementary school on SW 184 Ave.(eventually we will have shade, but not in my lifetime :). NO, I am not a Realtor or agent or employee for the City of Miramar - just a homeowner since early 2001 and hope people will not only take advantage of all the Sunset Lakes Community Center has to offer, but also the general Sunset Lakes Shoppes and all that is special about our area. PS - Super Walmart 2 mi north on SW 184 Ave., and Super Target and Memorial Miramar and GINORMOUS Regional park with many sports activities, Olympic sized pool, just 2 mi east on Miramar Pkwy, etc etc PLUS great entertainment of all kinds at the Regional park. My only wish is that we could donate foodstuffs etc during the year to the Community Center for people who may be in need. Thanks for listening to this "old woman." I believe we still have a Senior Center, but I take care of my husband, who lives at Home Depot and Publix!

I've even heard she's run out multiple therapists for children with special needs. She clearly doesn't want the best for her students otherwise she wouldnt actively destroy any relationships she has with people whos only purpose is to help those kids. she even berates her fellow staff members and the boss lets her get away with all of it just because she does her paperwork on time. there's zero form of accountability or professionalism from her and it should be known.

I don't know who was responsible but somebody does not play. That was the quickest construction project I've ever seen. This building offer a lot of services. You can pay your water bill or check out the library while you're waiting for your number to be called. There is also a clerk of courts office here and a cute little cafe. All on the ground level. The upper levels (I am assuming) are for other matters such as elected officials office and the such. Another thing that was added with the new construction was a parking garage. Parking used to be a bit challenging in the past and I think some people (me included) just didn't feel safe there. All of that has since changed. I haven't had to come to the Jospeh Caleb center outside of business which doesn't require me to frequent it that often outside of once a year. I am happy about the change and look forward to seeing more changes in the future as this is a great area to live in!

I really love Alper JCC…read more Both my kids have been coming here for years and the quality of education and the love they give here to all students is palpable. JCC is truly a great institution and the facilities are excellent. Pools, gym, theater, tennis... etc all very good. I'm actually sad that the kids have to move on from here but their foundation is strong from JCC teaching and their values.

The price per month is affordable (for me, it is about $35 per month), the location itself is big, and it is a community center. While I haven't participated in any of the local events, I really appreciate that this place is meant to be inclusive to the entire community. This means that as a community center, they have special things offered for children and for senior citizens as well. I was considering taking my daughter here for their theater program which I know is excellent and provides great training for this. Moving onto the gym itself -- they offer Hot Yoga, Vinyasa, and all kinds of other Yoga. There are many kinds of in-person classes that tend to be offered here. Even during CoronaVirus, they have been offering classes from their teachers on Facebook just so that people can still exercise without endangering themselves. There is a massive pool in the back and the bathroom has both a steam room and a massage chair that can be used. This place always serves coffee and free / clean towels for gym members to wash their faces. At a premium price, they offer pilates for those that are interested in this. There is a weight room for lifting weights, exercise machines, a Peloton machine and a room for spinning bikes in the back (not the quality that I'm accustomed to, but still, I found this kind of cool). Overall, I really appreciate the hospitality that this gym shows in terms of its customer service and what is literally offered to its members. There is also a daycare center here if this is needed. I like that this gym makes an effort towards inclusion which means that they encourage older people to stay in good and healthy shape. While I might be working out next to someone that is 60 years old, I really appreciate that this gym and the atmosphere here is inclusive to its entire community which also means its elders and children within the community too. This place is a hidden treasure and it would be hard to find other places that can match how welcoming and caring this place is.
