Today, the Spanish River Library and Community Center is one of two libraries in Boca Raton. This library is a stunning 41,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility designed in the Mediterranean Revival style. The library officially opened on January 26, 2008, following the approval of a $19.8 million bond by Boca Raton taxpayers in 2003 to expand the city's public library system. The building is so beautiful that it even serves as a wedding venue and features a catering kitchen for special events. Beyond its extensive collection of fiction and nonfiction books, the library offers quiet reading and study spaces, meeting rooms, a snack room with vending machines, a children's area, an art gallery, and scenic patio seating. I usually go to the Deerfield library filled with smelly patrons, loud children and kind librarians. Even though the Boca library was beautiful everyone who worked there was kind of rude. Maybe they were having a bad day or did not want to help me print my paper. It cost me $.80 and seemed to be a bit of an annoyance for the people working there, I definitely will not be back. Not everyone who worked there was unpleasant but from now on, I will stay in Broward where the employees are nice.

If you'd like to sit and watch your kids play, bringing a chair will make it more comfortable since there aren't benches yet. The space itself is very cute and has so much potential. Right now, a few details feel overlooked -- like restrooms, shade, and seating for parents -- but hopefully this is just the starting point and the city will continue building on this fantastic idea. With a few thoughtful additions, it could truly become a go-to spot for families in the community!

Scrambling to find testing, drive-thru testing is available at South County Civic Center 7 days a week from 9-7. We're all vaccinated and have our boosters. My husband & I tested negative last week when we flew back from Colombia so I'm not too worried, but with the holidays, we have family coming, and we all have to work in the office this week, so just to be safe. The line is long. It wraps all through the parking lot and onto Jog Road. It moves and is well organized. I got on the line at 11:15, an hour later, I'm about half way through. From start to finish it was just under 2 hours. Not they way I wanted to spend my Sunday morning, but it is what it is. Testing for both tests, the rapid and the PCR took less than a minute. Results for the rapid came back really fast. We weren't even home yet when the text came through. So what were the results...my younger boy and I are negative and my husband and the older one will be in a hotel in Miami for the next 10 days.
