The single worst doctor I have ever had the displeasure of working for. She is an absolute nightmare to her staff and screams at and berates them constantly. She did not let me know any of her office policies or standards of care before throwing me on the front desk to be trained on the system for three days before my trainer left the job. She is rude to patients as well, and is ALWAYS late, backing up the schedule sometimes over an hour, wasting everyone's time. I would not recommend her as a PCP to anyone and I would most certainly not recommend anyone try to work in her office. She is notorious among other clinics for her attitude. read more

Dr. Michael and her staff have been great to work with. Scheduling with them is always easy and on special, rare, occasions they'll slip you in between appointments if you absolutely need to see them right away. The wait for your appointment isn't long. Just make sure you show up at least 15 minutes before your appointment. Dr. Michael is easy to talk and listen to and after all these years I've really appreciated how she's able to connect with me. After visiting her I always feel better in the direction I'm heading because she'll tell it like it is and set you straight. Her staff are always warm and helpful. read more

Money making business. I waited for 60 mins plus in the waiting room for my first appointment only for her to then schedule my physical for another appointment. I had tests done and could not be given the benign results over the phone( another appointment- more money). I don't think her recommendations were tailored to my health and I did not return. I find it interesting that the reviews are so polarizing for this doctor and I would chalk this up to different expectations for what a 'good' doctor is. She's been my PCP for more than five years. I'm overweight, and have had a chronic digestive disease since childhood, and allergies. I have a family history of auto-immune diseases. Yes, she's direct. And she's also extremely competent, always willing to work with your specialists and other doctors, and is very caring. She takes time with patients who need it, and yes, that means she gets backed up sometimes - but in more than 5 years I've only waited more than an hour once, and usually it's 15-20 min., which I find standard these days. And, she's a D.O. - which requires additional training, and is more holistic. So she's very open to and encouraging of integrated natural therapies, accupuncture, etc. rather than just throwing pills at everything. And you may not like this, but she's going to hold you accountable for your own role in getting/staying healthy. Which means if your blood pressure is high she's going to talk to you about lifestyle changes you can make instead of immediately suggesting medication, and if you are overweight she's going to keep talking to you about changes to your lifestyle, not recommending surgery. Look, it's uncomfortable, but her job is to get you healthy - and I've never felt that she treated me badly because of my weight. I do feel nervous going to the doctor when I've not lost weight, because you know it's going to come up - BUT... that's *my* issue, and my guilt, not something she's saying or doing to make me feel bad. She wants to see me healthy and happy! Many doctors fear if they keep talking about weight with their patients, the patients will not come to see them at all, so they bite their tongue - but the science is overwhelming, and metabolic disease is a serious problem, and most easily addressed at a younger age. Again, speaking as someone who is on the receiving end, and has struggled for 20 years. All of this said, let me address her bedside manner specifically. I'm not sure if there had been something going on in her personal or professional life when I first started seeing her that caused her to be under more stress, but being totally honest, I find her more relaxed now. At the same time, I can't help but think if she were a male physician, people wouldn't see her direct bedside manner as a problem. Either way, I find her more relaxed and chatty for the past few years than when I started with her, so if this matters I think it's not an issue any longer. BTW, something to think about: when you are in the waiting room, you want the doctor to move fast to get to you on time - but once you're in the room, you want her to take her time with you.... so keep that in mind when you are waiting for a doctor who's running late next time, it's not bad time management on the doctor's part that keeps you waiting - it's a patient, just like you, who needs extra time because something is wrong...Yes, your time is valuable, but it's not Jiffy Lube, and if your doctor takes time with someone else because they need it, then she'll do the same for you. You never know when you're going to be on the receiving end, and you'll be thankful she didn't rush you out the door because another patient with a sniffle was waiting. read more

I want to start by saying I've been a patient of Dr. Michael for about a year and a half. I have to thank her for helping me reduce my triglyceride levels from extremely high to near acceptable levels in a 5 month period via natural over the counter medications. Thank you! However, she does not give sufficient understanding of why she is putting you on a medication and what its side-effects will be. This caused me to begin doing my own research, which is good. Dr. Christina Michael is a warm, caring, knowledgeable physician. I went in the first time with a list of questions - sort of like an interview, to be sure that we were compatible, and we were. As for the wait time, which some have complained about: if I were the patient with a difficult problem, I would want her to spend the extra time needed with me. I also like that the blood draws and urinalysis are done right in her office. No going downstairs to wait for these tests to be done. read more

She has helped me control my cholesterol and has made sure my husband has his heart checked just about every few months. I had a routine visit with Dr. Michael and my father (who is also a patient) came along because he was suffering from sudden and debilitating back pain. My dad stated he knew the appointment was for me but asked if it were possible to provide brief advice or even just references for a back specialist. He said he'd be happy making an appointment. Dr. Michael glared at him for several seconds, turned her back and ignored his question. Finally, on her way out, she stopped, pivoted to him and curtly said, "I hope your back feels better. If it doesn't, feel free to come in and see us." Dr. Michael failed to mention that beginning the next day she would be absent from the office for a full month. Several days later my father was admitted to the hospital. I believe Dr. Michael's unwillingness to provide even basic references or resources to someone clearly in need constitutes a great disservice to the community. She is quite knowledgeable and I'm sure she is well aware that her bedside manner won't win her any popularity awards, but she is a straight shooter and is honest with you. I find Dr Michael to be a very thorough Doctor. She is genuinely interested in getting to know each and every patient. I don't feel like she overbooks and just goes from room to room fitting in as many patients as possible. She is fully prepared for each patient before she goes in the room and you have her complete undivided attention. I went to Dr. Michael for five years. She was cold and very arrogant. All she ever did was write things down and then wouldn't do anything to help me. At one time, I got shingles and she laughed at me. She thought it was funny. The whole time I went to her, I complained about the same symptoms over and over again. And she didn't do anything. I told her a number of times I was leaving. And then I finally did. I went to a neurologist and was told I had multiple sclerosis. I also had to obtain a new PCP. Dr. Michael perhaps saved my life - literally. Forced a biopsy after radiologist recommended I wait for 6 months to see "what develops". Biopsy confirmed Breast Cancer. This is how Dr. Michael rolls - firm, knowledgeable, no nonsense but and I have always found her to be profoundly caring. Exceptionally compassionate with me when I was going through some serious emotional trauma that impacted my health. She has always called me with follow ups. She coaches me through some unexpected health issues that are not uncommon as one ages but new to me. I can understand why there are those who don't see warm and fuzzy with Dr. Michael but I have been with her for 17 years and plan to be with her another 17. If you want a doctor who knows her stuff, is competent, trustworthy, dedicated, compassionate, truly cares about the well being of her patients, focuses as much on preventative measures as she does on illness and if hand holding is not a priority for you, Dr. Michael is a match. I find her advice to be on point, caring, and has kept me and my husband healthy all these years. This was the first time I'd ventured out into the real world on my own with my own insurance and trying to take care of myself. When I found this physician because she was so close to home and I'd passed the hospital nearly all my life I was thrilled. But after my first appointment I was 100% turned off. Despite just going in to get a check up so I could get more blood work done for my hypothyroidism, all she seemed to do was snub her nose at me and make me feel horrible because of my weight. I thought maybe it was just because we were both new to one another and so I went for a second appointment. Nothing was different. She was friendly and smiled and cordial with her patients that were older in age. When it came to me she became cold and less than interested. Once again the conversation was centered around my weight and how obese I was. I'm overweight, I get it. It's a struggle I have had my ENTIRE life. But I had to point out to her I'd lost nearly 12 lbs since my last appointment which she had no interest in or response to. I actually left this appointment and when I got to my car had a good cry for a few minutes. The third and final time I went to an appointment with her I took my brother with me. I responded to her with the same short responses and less than interested attitude. Once this appointment was over I never went back. I don't understand how she's still in practice. Avoid this doctor if you have ANY expectation of gentle bedside manner. My wife went to Dr. Michael my doctor today on my recommendation. She arrived on time and was greeted by a pleasant front office staff (rare) and a nice and gentle nurse who took her blood and vitals. Then Dr. Michael came in and spoke to her so brusquely that my wife ultimately had to tell her " I am far from from stupid, so it is unnecessary to talk down to me, so let's change our tone, so we can understand each other." 1 star for the office staff , my wife nor I will not visit Dr. Michael again. read more

Doctor said I had too many ailments...was offered a list of Primary Care Physicians (PCP) from which to select. Speculatively, the general symptoms I manifested were something beyond the doctor's comprehension. Problem solved....I gladly found a new PCP. Dr. Michael has been my physician for the past five years. I like strong professional women and she is one! She is very good at what she does and I am confident that I am receiving quality medical care. She is no nonsense, but very knowledgeable and caring. She is firm about any recommendations she makes and I am equally firm if I elect something different. She is pleasant, but you will not see any contrived cheerfulness, something I don't need or want. She answers any questions I may have. I am healthy, exercise regularly, and take full responsibility for the state of my health. As I get older and need more assistance I trust that she will be there to support me. When I refer friends or co-workers to her I tell them that she puts medicine before popularity and if you can accept that, then she may be the right health care professional for you. Dr. michaels is my regular doctor. she is straighfoward and kind. she is a brillant doctor and has sent us to great specialist. she does insist that you see specialists and is not the doctor you want if you want to untreat crontic problems.
