Beyond having a professional, friendly staff and an immaculate office, Dr. Halabi is just an obviously kind person. Being at his office feels a lot like walking into your cousin's house during Thanksgiving--everyone's super friendly (but professional) and you immediately feel welcomed each time. When wait times occurred, they were extremely minimal, and Dr. Halabi always made himself available to answer any questions I had about the process. I never told him that I have a low-key fear of dentists and orthodontists because it just never came up! I always felt like I was in good hands with the doctor and every tech. Lastly, the quality of the straightening was outstanding. I walked in with teeth looking a bit like broken piano keys and now I feel like they could be in a magazine. I simply can't recommend Dr. Halabi enough. These geniuses 3D print them, and I'm pretty sure it's in their basement because no way does it justify that price tag. $800 for a DIY retainer? What is this, Etsy? Oh, and if you're thinking, "well, maybe their service makes up for the price?" Nope. The so-called "Treatment Coordinators" (fancy talk for receptionists with an attitude) are on a mission to ensure you regret calling. I had the distinct pleasure of being shouted at over the phone by a delightful soul named Mariah. I simply asked for clarification about my procedure, and suddenly it was like I had asked her to explain quantum physics. I wasn't expecting a TED Talk, but yelling? Over a question? What kind of customer service training do they have here - military boot camp? Mariah, you're a receptionist, not the one doing the dental procedure. Seek therapy. And let's not forget about Jennifer, the self-appointed gatekeeper who made sure I couldn't even speak with the actual doctor. I had a simple question about my bill--nothing major, just wanted to clarify a charge--and instead of letting me talk to the person who supposedly knows what's going on with my treatment, she decided to play defense like it was the Super Bowl. She straight-up refused to transfer my call. I mean, how complicated is it to pass a phone along? Apparently, in this office, it's easier to 3D print an $800 retainer than to let a paying customer talk to the doctor. Oh, and let's talk about their text messages. I've seen more professional exchanges from my matches on Tinder. Spoiler alert: the screenshots attached speak for themselves. Honestly, if you're in Brooklyn, there are so many better orthodontists. These places won't overcharge you, won't force you into buying bootleg retainers, and, best of all, you won't have to deal with Mariah's phone rage or Jennifer's refusal to let you talk to the doctor.
