These patients sing praises about Forte, from the doctors to the nurses to the efficient people at the front desk. From a visitor's point of view, Forte is great. They are very straightforward with their instructions, which I appreciate. Just tell me what to do and what to expect, and I'll do it and expect it. Everything went pretty much according to what they said. They have a smoothly running system here. Visitors can help themselves to the unlimited coffee and water at the coffee and water station. This is where the Little Free Library is located! The waiting room also has multiple seating arrangements, from high-top desks to comfy chairs to love seats. Or, if you need something to eat or drink, there's a cafe on the first floor. (See my separate review for La Verna Cafe.) The waiting room is airy and bright. One thing that's kinda weird is that a "cruise director" comes and talks about what to expect with your surgery ... right in the waiting room, among all those random people. That seems unusual, right? However, there are private rooms that you're taken to when the time comes to talk about your particular case with the doctor. As a visitor who is not a patient, Forte is great. But I've been told that it's also great being a patient here, so there's that.

They responded to my request the next day and then offered to book me in for the following week. Amazing, considering how popular they are! Once my appointment was booked, I was emailed a form to fill out digitally before arrival. It helped me prep for the appointment and it was nice to get my insurance info squared away before visiting. They also sent reminder texts and emails, and sent me a COVID screening the morning of the appointment (mini online quiz to say if you'd been feeling sick or not). It was all very seamless! When I visited the office, they checked me in right away and I was brought back right at my appointment time. A PA named Kyler came in to assess my knees and she was super awesome and helpful. I was then brought back for knee x-rays and the x-ray women were SO nice too. As soon as I was brought out of the x-ray room, an attendant brought me back to my room and Dr. Shook came in to assess. He delivered good news (yay!) and was so kind and helpful. He communicated very clearly, seemed very patient, and was open to any questions. He printed off exercises for me to do at home and the attendant brought me to check out. All seven or so people that I interacted with were so friendly and sharp. The whole appointment was very efficient and Dr. Shook seemed to know everyone by name. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

The services I received from A Meyers for a surgical site infection in my hand caused by one of his…read morepartners was substandard care and very disappointing. 1. A MeyerS allowed the infection to progress to osteomyelitis over a 4 month period. During this time, I was in constant pain and my finger had to remain in a splint for 6 months instead of the 6 weeks. I was on various ineffective oral antibiotic regimens during this period. I broke out in a sepsis rash twice and thought I was going to die of sepsis because the infection was so mismanaged. When I asked for a second opinion from an Infectious Disease(ID) physician other than the one A Meyers was using he refused to provide a referral and, despite being in practice in the area for 16 years, said he did not know another physician. His stonewalling me, the patient, for 4 months allowed the infection to progress to osteomyelitis. I finally identified another ID physician myself but A Meyers continued to refuse to provide a referral until my insistence was so strong that he was forced to issue it. The new ID physician (ID2) said that A Meyers said that there was no infection in my hand but ID2 believed otherwise after examining me and ordered the correct diagnostic test(an MRI of my hand). The MRI was performed the next day diagnosing osteomyelitis, a central IV (a PICC line) was inserted into my arm, and I was started on a 42 daily infusion of IV antibiotics at a hospital center. The side effects of the antibiotic included extreme nausea and dizziness that prevented me from driving or engaging in normal activities for 42 days. 2. As a former director of surgery in a large municipal hospital, I believe the infection control practices of both A Meyers' office and of the surgery center (owned by A Meyers and his partners) did not meet basic good infection control practice standards. While other medical providers in the area and the nation were still wearing masks for covid, no one in the office or surgery center wore masks except during surgery. I repeatedly had to ask A Meyers to wipe the surface of the office xray machine when filming my hand. And disturbingly, he either could not or would not provide me with copies of all my x-rays. 3. This was the first time I have had surgery at a physician owned facility. It is the last time as I believe both the infection control practices and the quality of the staff were substandard. 4. I found A Meyers to be very condescending and disrespectful. He is obviously unable to diagnose an infection and did not know the correct diagnostic test, an MRI, that should have been ordered to diagnose the infection. The ID2 physician told me it was my right as a patient to go to any physician I wished and readily provided a referral to another surgeon. Without this referral, I would have been unable to schedule an appointment with another surgeon as no one wants to clean up another physician's mess. 5. The additional care I required generated an additional $7500(based on insurance claims) in payments to A Meyers practice. I am left with a deformed finger, constant pain whenever the tip of my finger touches a surface, and the need for continued monitoring for the remainder of my life. A surgery which should have cost $2670 has now generated payments of at least $31,500(based on insurance claims to various providers to rectify the medical issues caused by the original procedure and mismanagement of the infection. I am now under the care of the professors and clinicians of one of the top five university medical centers in the United States. They are closely monitoring the status of my finger in order to prevent a possible amputation--all because A Meyers did not listen to me, mismanaged antibiotic treatment, could not recognize an infection, and did not know the proper diagnostic test to order to determine the problem. My life as I knew it has been taken from me and my family.

The office staff has been responsive and courteous to all of my requests and questions. I felt like I never really got a chance to ask the doctor questions about my surgery, length of stay or recovery. I am currently 10 days post-op, and have improved but still considerable discomfort and pain. I assume this is normal but I have had no communication with the hospital or doctor. My post-op appointment is still 5 days out. The other issue I had was waiting for discharge from the hospital. I was kept overnight and told I would be going home the next day. The next day the doctor did not come by for "rounds" until late in the afternoon. I was not released until after 7:00pm that night, long day just waiting to go home. These issues do not allow me to leave a rave review about this surgical experience. Ultimately, the level of success in resolving my issues and controlling my pain will be the final determinant of this experience. I hope to find in a few weeks that my neck/back pain has subsided. If this happens, then I will be singing the praises of Dr Brkaric's work!

I had a 7 am appointment and they were in the office when I arrived at 6:30 am. I was a little discouraged by the 4 pages of paperwork that I needed to fill out with my broken arm before being seen. I was called back a little after 7. The nurse, Kat, was friendly as she took my history and gently removed my cast. Dr Peers came in soon there after and looked at the arm and took me for xrays in an adjacent room. He actually took the xrays and described what he saw. He spoke in terms that I understood and answered questions. His care and consultation were excellent and he took me to another room to start physical therapy. The physical therapist, Jenny, prepared a brief set of exercises and we practiced. She set up follow up visits. I liked that the office is self contained with everything right there. The entire visit took under an hour and I felt that I was well cared for. I highly recommend. I also recommend early morning time to avoid the wait.
