As a patient diagnosed with aggressive Gleason 9 prostate cancer at age 58 with metastasis to lymph nodes, I put my faith in Dr. Dattoli's hands. Dr Dattoli is truly in a class by himself. He is a brilliant doctor who has pioneered so many sophisticated radiation technologies (DART, Brachytherapy) that he really has no rival. He takes on the most difficult cancer cases and cures them or controls the cancer seemingly with ease (go to his website and listen to the testimonials). He treats all stages of disease and everyone is "custom fit". There is no "one size fits all" approach with Dr Dattoli. I learned this after speaking with so many others who had been treated over 20 years ago as well as those who are currently undergoing treatment. Like myelf, virtually everyone I spoke to experienced little to no treatment related symptoms. My husband was treated 6 years ago at the Dattoli Cancer Center at age 57 in beautiful Sarasota, Florida. He had aggressive prostate cancer. Being from Maryland, we had many Universities to pick from and even the NCI, the latter where we were offered a "Clinical Trial" which could extend my husband's life by 1-3 years. We were devastated! Fortunately, a physician neighbor suggested that we see Dr Dattoli. I recall that he called us at our home after we called his office. He spent over 90 minutes on the phone. When we arrived at the Dattoli Cancer Center we were impressed. The Center houses the most sophisticated radiation technology anywhere and the Center is beautiful, not like your typical cold Doctor's office, Today, Dr Dattoli uses DART which he and his staff perfected (superior to Protons for precision). Meanwhile Dr Dattoli pioneered brachytherapy over 25 years ago at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in NYC and has written many medical text books on this topic. He also publishes his data in medical journals and has the highest cure rate for patients having advanced high risk cancer which was important to us. During our stay we met people who had traveled from around the nation and world, each having varying degrees of aggressiveness associated with their prostate cancer (everyone is treated differently). We just visited Dr Dattoli in follow-up and underwent some testing including a 3 Dimensional Color Flow Doppler Ultrasound, an instrument which is exceedingly rare. My husband's PSA is ZERO!! I was diagnosed with prostate cancer back in 2001at the age of 58. My immediate reaction was to go along with the urologist in town who said my only option was to operate and remove the prostate. I was ready to sign on the dotted line and even made the date for the procedure. On the way home my wife wanted to explore alternatives. That evening a friend of mine who was president of Coca Cola South America called me and consoled me and told me that he had prostate cancer and was treated by Dr. Dattoli right in my own town and was doing great. So, reluctantly I called the next day to make an appt, with Dr. Dattoli and was told that he would call me to see if in fact I was qualified for seeding. Two nights later he called and after an hour on the phone, I was convinced that this was the way to go. Long story short, it's now 16 years later. Being diagnosed with prostate cancer at a young age was frightening (age 45). I had 2 friends who had surgery and are now wearing diapers for urinary leakage and have a complete loss of sexual function. Meanwhile, their cancers have returned and they required radiation and both are now receiving hormones. I traveled near and far to find the best treatment including but not limited to MD Anderson Tumor Institute in Houston and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. My experience with the Dattoli Cancer Center exceeded all expectations. Dr Dattoli is brilliant and figured out what others couldn't with my advanced prostate cancer.
