Discharged Without Notice -- Serious Communication Failure…read more I was very disappointed with Intercoastal Medical Group, Beneva Road. My doctor discharged me without any notice, even though I am 80 years old, and had been on prescribed medication from their office for a long time. Without renewal, there is a risk of serious health consequences. Communication was also difficult, and when I tried to discuss my concerns, I was told they don't share email contacts for managers or doctors. I hope Intercoastal Medical will take greater responsibility for continuity of care and clearer communication with patients.

Should be pretty easy,…read moreright..Well when I went to pick up the medication he prescribed, pharmacist says, 'this is your first time being on anything like this, isn't it. Well this dose is high and Dr should have started you off at half this and worked your way up to see if you could tolerate it' So I call and speak with his nurse Sara and ask her if he could lower it and explain what pharmacy said. She asks Dr.Powell and he said that what he called in is what I need and he was not changing it. So all night I am throwing up and having heart palpitations feeling like I'm having a heart attack, because of the strong side effects! Now I have worse anxiety because I'm gun shy to take anything else. I am not impressed with his doctoring skills if he can't even do something this simple.

Especially when I was unable to walk and was feeling vulnerable and at the mercy of another, not a good feeling from a person that is generally healthy and very active. However, from the moment Dr Stewart entered the room this perception I had for the office overall drastically changed. The whole goal was to get some answers as to why my foot is losing circulation, feeling numb going to sleep, can't move toes, pain when walking, standing, twisting from below knee to foot. I was not only misdiagnosed by Dr. Stewart, but vastly misdiagnosed. He went against his better judgement and decided to self diagnose my injuries based upon a physical examination, xray (bones) and ultrasound of my leg. Rather than order an MRI possibly to get further insight into nerve damage (which xray and ultrasound isnt the best option for). After all, I did mention I have spinal stenosis and he said maybe its from that. Then treated me by putting me in a boot for 30 days stating that my problem was most likely muscle related, but if the boot didn't fix the problem in 30 days then he would order an MRI of my back. Fast forward, 5 days later my foot has consistently turned purple (even without the boot) the steroids I was put on caused my heart to race out of my chest as if it was going to burst. I am still in great pain, I still can not walk (or put pressure on my foot) and now have started to see swelling in my left leg and numbness in my right hand and fingers. If you cant treat someone, don't guess. Send them to get the help they need because putting someone in a constricting boot when they are having blood circulation issues is not going to treat the real issue. It's possible it could exasperate the condition. Also aside from the misdiagnosis and the reason it made it even easier to write this is because he had terrible bedside manners. I felt like I was more of a bother in his busy day than anything.

They don't want you there. Try calling for an appointment. You will go elsewhere. I fractured a wrist and patella in Europe. just before the flight home. Dr Klein saw me after the doors were locked. My visits with him are usually 12 to 14 month apart. Recently I showed up at his office 2 1/2 hours early for my appointment as I entered the wrong time in my phone calendar. After finding out I live 25 miles from the clinic his nurse, Lori, very kindly worked me in after their last morning appointment, thus delaying their own lunch by 20 minutes but it saved me almost 2 hours of waiting. He and Lori are exceptional as that kind of consideration is not common in today's world. On a side note, 15 years ago I was thrown from my horse and broke both bones in my lower leg. Although lower extremities are not his speciality area, he was the KWOC surgeon on call, and did an perfect job putting plates and screws in both bones. My leg healed perfectly. Thank you Dr. Klein!
