We hired St. Lucie's to provide an accurate and detailed appraisal to support this DVC. USAA initially made a low-ball offer of $1,300. The appraisal from St. Lucie came in at around $6,000 for DV. Unfortunately for us, USAA refused to budge on their original low-ball offer. After USAA refused to negotiate or communicate over several months, armed with St Lucie's appraisal, I filed in small claims court. We didn't want to go this route, but USAA put us in this position. Six weeks after filing, USAA's attorney came back with a reasonable offer of $4,500, which we accepted.
