TL;DR: Significant water damage Insurance offered ~$1500 MAS recovered ~$80,000 on my behalf More details: This local business is top notch! Chris and Cynthia are amazing, down to earth individuals. They are super helpful, going above and beyond, and making a difficult event so much easier for me. My insurance company only offered me ~$1500 for significant water damage/mold in my kitchen underneath and behind my cabinets. The insurance company thought $1500 should cover the cost of disassembling the kitchen, replacing the drywall, and re-installing the kitchen -- lunacy! This is when I called MAS because someone told me in the state of Florida, you can hire a public adjuster to represent you on insurance claims and do so on contingency (same fixed percentage for all public adjusters in Florida). MAS took care of everything for me which was a HUGE relief because I'm a very busy white collar professional and didn't have the time or energy to fight with the insurance company. The insurance company tried everything they could to prevent payment but but Chris and Cynthia never gave up, utilizing all their knowledge, skills, and experience to get me everything I was entitled to under my insurance policy. At the end of the day, MAS managed to get me ~$80,000 (less the contingency) to cover the damage which is a far cry from the $1500 the insurance company originally offered me. So we contracted with Chris and Cynthia to act as our Public Adjustor. Chris was extremely thorough and worked up a detailed claim for our insurance company. We didn't hire Miami Appraisal Services right away, but we did work with the restoration and cleanup company he recommended and are very thankful we did. There was very little mold growth and the dry-out was very thorough and professional and they worked directly with the insurance company. Excellent free advice so far. Spoke with the insurance company and they were somewhat insistent on using their "recommended" contractors to estimate and complete the job and wasn't crazy about the idea (I prefer to choose based on reviews, obviously). I'm going to be honest and say that I absolutely loathe repair work. It's a grueling process that I'd rather leave to my fiancé. However, when you're planning a move, it's imperative to update your current condo for rent.
