Dr. Kotzen and his staff are remarkable!!!! I have had both of my bunion surgeries here and I wouldnt trust anyone to touch my feet but this doctor. He is extremely caring and knows what he is doing! He really cares for his patients and there well being.. The place is so professional and he has grown into a larger office since i started seeing him. I am not surprised. Its VERY hard to find good doctors these days, but Dr. Kotzen is beyond exceptional. I would refer anyone I know that is having foot issues to him. You are in Good Hands!!! I am not certain where to list my review of this office's "mobile" foot care service, called FootDocs2U or Home Foot Care. I was lucky enough to find them for a bedridden relative that desperately needed to see a podiatrist! I was given their card by a friend in the medical field who I trust immensely. Becca returned my call promptly, and I gave her the insurance information. Between Medicare and the secondary carrier, I was told it would be "insurance only". WOW! Becca was friendly, helpful and professional. She gave me an appointment a few weeks out, but told me she'd call if there was a cancellation. Sure enough, yesterday, Jane (equally as wonderful as Becca) called and offered me an appointment today. My uncle was delighted. Dr. Nan came out and saw my uncle, who was very pleased with the quality of care and the kind personality of the doctor. What a relief. My uncle is bed ridden, and yet he needed to see a podiatrist. Between the very sweet and efficient team of Becca and Jane, and followed by the visit by Dr. Nan: I would recommend this company very highly. A gem! read more

I'm seriously surprised by all the good reviews, I wish I would of had a great experience. My review is long over due. I went a few months ago for an ingrown nail on both my big toes. The minute the Dr. walked in he didn't greet me or anything just told me to take off my socks, looked at my nails took out his sharp nail clippers, and went in to cut the nail out. I didn't get a heads up or even topical anesthesia, it was beyond PAINFUL. My toes were left bleeding and all he said was to do an exercise every day where I spread the skin so the nail won't become ingrown anymore. Then he said to come back to him if the nail starts ingrowing again. (PFFFT) His assistant came in to clean me up with peroxide. But hey guess what I did the exercise and it came back. read more

I found Dr Kotzen through my health insurance. I am a runner. About 2 years ago I started to have a lot of pain in my feet, specially in the right foot. When I went to my primary doctor, he referred me to podiatrist and gave me the contact info of a few doctors. The first office I visited was very impersonal. I decided to go to Dr Kotzen. First, when I arrived the staff was very friendly, no waiting. The doctor took an x-ray and told me I had a bunions and he suggested surgery. I agreed and last year, in March, I had surgery on my right foot. Many people tried to talk me out of it, telling me how painful it would be afterwards. Also telling me how difficult my recovery would be for several months. Regardless, I scheduled my appointment and was very happy I did so. The surgery went well and, as early as June, I started jogging again. A few months later, I decided to remove the bunion in my other foot. My surgery was on January 16, 2014. I arrived in Encino Plaza Surgery Center at 8 am and was home by noon. The doctor called me every day after the surgery to make sure I was feeling well. After surgery I had some pain in my foot, which was absolutely normal after such a procedure. I followed all Dr Kotzen's recommendations, and now I feel great. I can't wait to start running again. I don't have any pain or discomfort in either of my feet. I am very happy I chose Dr Kotzen, and how professional and concerned he is. His staff is very professional too. No waiting, they always call and remind me about my appointments. Sindy and Wendy (receptionists) are always so friendly and accommodating. I had a terrible experience and left shocked and mildly traumatized. I was badly hurt at this office and had not given informed consent for the procedure that was done. I trusted this doctor based on the good reviews, but ended up violated. This doctor states that my toe was infected. It was never infected. You have to have a LOT of confidence in someone who is going to slice into your foot and cut out a piece of your bone and replace it with an artificial implant. I certainly had that much confidence in Dr. Kotzen who was both serious about the work as well as warm and comforting. I was referred to Dr. Kotzen by my regular doctor. Dr. Kotzen was not in my HMO network, but I decided to see him anyway as I was suffering from an ingrown big toenail for months and didn't want to wait any longer for an insurance company approval. My experience was excellent. They got me in on time and the staff was extremely nice and helpful. Dr. Kotzen is a very personable guy and he put me at ease right away. He took care of my problem pretty fast and then had me soak the foot daily until my follow-up appointment yesterday which went very well. Even though I elected to pay out-of-pocket, it was money well-spent. $165 for the procedure and home cleaning kit, along with follow-up visits during the next 90 days. I'm blind and partially quadraplegic and cannot recommend him at all. Before he would even talk to me he took my CC number. Then, the day he was supposed to be here he canceled AFTER the appointment was supposed to have taken place.
