I had a foot injury and was encouraged to make an appointment with Dr. Nazarian after finding her…read morethrough my insurance company and reading the rave reviews here. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Nazarian turned out quite differently and very troubling. FWIW, my actual interaction with Dr. Nazarian in the exam was fine but what followed made this visit one of the most difficult and unprofessional experiences I've ever had with a doctor's practice. Dr. Nazarian is listed as in-network with my insurer. However, despite copying my insurance card, I was informed at my appointment that the practice is not participating with my insurance company and they would not even submit claims to them. They said they would instead provide me with fees equal to what my insurance co-pays would've been. That was quite odd and the first red flag. At the end of my appointment, I was asked to pay for a protective shoe that the staffer insisted would not be covered by my insurance. I had received the same type of item in the past due to a different injury and it was covered by insurance. So I advised the staffer to please file a claim for it with my insurance and I would cover the co-pay my insurance determined was applicable. What was more serious is that they insisted that the prescription they were providing to me for severe pain and swelling would not be covered by my insurance, would probably not be available locally, and then without my agreement, they sent my prescription to a mail-order pharmacy in Minnesota that they apparently have some sort of arrangement with. This was foisted upon me despite my providing in my intake papers the address and phone number of my local pharmacy (part of a national chain) where I wanted my prescriptions sent. I contacted Dr. Nazarian's office the next day to inform them that I paused the mail order pharmacy order since despite the doctor's and staff's insistence, my insurance company confirmed that the prescription was indeed covered and it was available at my local pharmacy. The cost at my pharmacy would be 1/3 of the mail order price and I could get it the same day to get relief from the pain and swelling sooner as opposed to waiting days for shipping. For 8 days I had to keep calling them to try and get them to send the prescription to my local pharmacy, but they wouldn't do it. One has to ask why. Finally, on the 8th day after my original appointment, though they continued insisting that my insurance probably wouldn't cover the prescription then offered a new argument that the prescription probably wouldn't go through at my local pharmacy even if they sent it there, they submitted the prescription to my pharmacy and it was of course covered by insurance, filled, and picked up that day. I went 8 days, experiencing pain and swelling without treatment for no reason other than I wanted my prescription sent to my local pharmacy. All of this was unethical. A doctor being in-network but then not honoring that insurance at the appointment and trying to make a patient pay for something that would likely be covered by insurance or at least provided at a reduced price to the patient. Secondly and more crucially, informing their patient that their insurance wouldn't cover a prescription when it did. They could have quickly confirmed it was covered as I did, but they didn't. What was their incentive for doing this? Then using that untruth to make a patient pay more for a prescription to the practice's favored mail order pharmacy instead of paying less at a local pharmacy of the patient's choosing? And to literally add insult to injury, unnecessarily causing a patient to suffer through days of pain without relief while having to wrestle with them for over a week just to get a prescription sent to their local pharmacy. I am bewildered by a practice that so clearly does not put the patient and their injuries first, provides misleading information to them, tries to take away their right to choose their own pharmacy, and resists cooperating with them for over a week on such a simple and standard thing. This being the case, I would recommend patients look elsewhere for a practice that puts patients' costs, choices, health, and well-being first.

Throughout my 30-year career in STEM, I've extensively worked as an educator in math, physics, and…read morechemistry, meeting countless students along the way. But few have impressed me quite like Gina Nalbandian--not just because of her brilliance, but more importantly, because of her measured tenderness, which makes her the perfect physician. When my mother experienced strange pains below her ankle, we immediately sought medical help. The first physician merely commanded her to wear varicose socks without even touching her foot. The second did the same, and the third simply gave her an injection--one that worsened the pain. After a month, my mother still wasn't feeling any better. Then, I remembered that one of my dear students from many years ago--Gina--had become a podiatrist. I scheduled an appointment and took my mother to her. First, after two decades, Gina recognized me instantly. Second, she was the only physician who actually examined my mother's foot before prescribing appropriate footwear and natural pain relief, while also helping us understand that the pain might never fully disappear. A few weeks into the treatment, my mother reported that the pain had significantly subsided. During the follow-up, she was so impressed by her new doctor's sharpness and bedside manner that she asked me to take a picture of them together. Here it is! We are forever grateful to Dr. Gina Nalbandian.

The initial contact when walking into Dr. Erickson's practice, Julianna M., was an absolute gem. It was more than refreshing to walk into a doctor's office and get the care that I expect as a patient. Dr. Erickson was so wonderful, she answered all of my questions. She actually took the time to look at my x-rays with a keen and practiced eye. She didn't rush through the appointment, she listened to all my concerns, and had an excellent bedside manner! I would recommend Dr. Erickson 100% of the time, if you want someone who listens, is knowledgeable, and definitely takes the Hippocratic Oath seriously, you will be pleased, and pleasantly surprised! This is how ALL doctors SHOULD be.

Had an appointment scheduled, arrived on time but still spent very long time waiting just to see other patients being accepted even though they arrived long after me. And I will also add that during my waiting, another person arrived to pickup some prescription and was charged like it was a regular visit which shows that all they care about is money and definitely not about you or your time. BTW, reading another review about how he got treated wrong and the doctor just replied "glad you found a different doctor" just shows the absurdity of this place. Don't play with your health and take your business elsewhere.

This might be the most unethical doctor and office I've ever encountered…read more To put it short: they cancelled an appointment, under the guise the Dr was not available at that time to try to get me to go to a different location where they could charge me never disclosed out of pocket costs. What more needs to be said... Apparently more needs to be said because as you can see from the owners psychotic response, he's claiming my review is false. Here's some more details so everyone can be sure (including the crazy owner) what happened: I had my insurance secure an authorization for me to be seen here for an emergent issue. I called last Wednesday and made an appointment, confirmed at 3:30 pm last Friday, at this encino location. After the appointment was confirmed I got a call back from the office saying "the doctor would prefer to see you in porter ranch" I said but I need to be seen now this is emergent. They said sorry "your appointment is canceled." I asked when the soonest next appointment was and they said next Friday or Wednesday, I said I can't wait over a week. They said tough luck. Then my insurance followed up with the office, and they have a call log with notes of why the doctor wanted the appointment at porter ranch. It is because the laser therapy I needed is something they charge out of pocket, not through insurance, and that can be done at that location. At no point was this ever disclosed to me. If the person I spoke with disclosed that from the beginning I may not have made an appointment at all or spoke with my insurance first. So you guys can decide if my extremely detailed review with time stamps, dates, and specifics is made up or believe the maniac claiming my review is "fake."
