Attentive, but not in the way you think. Every aisle has staff half-hidden behind shelves, peeking like amateur wildlife photographers. Not to offer help, but to see if you might slip a tube of paint into your pocket. 2. Friendly... with conditions. Employees are approachable--if you manage to track one down. They'll happily answer questions, so long as they aren't about actual crafts. And if you happen to be tattooed? Forget it. You're suddenly invisible. 3. World-class sprinters doubling as loss-prevention officers. After you've Googled your way through unanswered questions and found supplies on your own, you'll encounter the elusive aisle-ender. They don't break a sprint record to clock out early--they bolt to the front door, taking up a stance that feels more nightclub bouncer than cashier. Don't tell anyone, but I love Michaels. And the closer we get to our wedding, the more I suspect I will like Michaels. For the unknowing, Michaels is a crafts store on steroids. They are a cross between a crafts store, a Homesense, and a massive dollar store. What I really like about Michaels is the variety of items. No matter what I'm looking for, chances are I can find it or something similar at Michaels. If you are preparing for a holiday of planning a wedding, Michaels should be high on your list of visits. If you're looking for event supplies, Michaels will hook you up. Need to hook something up? Michaels has got you covered. Need to cover something? ...Michaels probably has something for that too. From painting supplies, to fake plants, to every kind of seasonal decoration, to those light up letters that are all the rage right now - I find it a little overwhelming actually. I don't know the store well enough to know what I'm looking for when I'm there. If you're anything like me (craft curious, but inexperienced) Your best bet is to go willing to poke around, get creative to see what you can come up with. read more

I'm just not that girl. You know, that artsy, fartsy, super crafty girl. But IF I was you know where I would go to get all my crafting goods? Yup, you guessed it: Michaels. Michaels is INSANE. I mean that in a good way. You walk in and you're overwhelmed with art supplies. We're talkin' beads, fake flowers, canvases, paints, glues, fabrics, stationary, and the list goes on and on. Yes, I'd imagine this place would be a painter/drawer/craftperson's heaven. I can't imagine what they haven't got in craft-goodness. While it may not be MY cup of tea, I can appreciate their selection, their merchandise and their space. It's quite impressive and if I was just a smidgen craftier, I can guarantee I'd lose hours at a time in this place! read more

I like shopping at this store, but Michael's pricing strategy drives me crazy! They condition you to only buy one thing at a time by doubling the regular price of their merchandise but handing out 40% to 50% coupons for ONE regular priced item. They now have a new pricing category to which your coupons DO NOT APPLY - Everyday Pricing. Unfortunately there no good way to tell if the item is Regular Regular or Everyday Regular for three reasons 1) no tags on the merch 2) merch on the wrong hook/SKU 3) hard to find an employee to ask, so basically you have to stand in line before you can actually find out the price of the item you are buying. read more

I went there to buy some paint markers so I could do some grip tape art the staff was nice it wasn't busy at all there where like 3 people the at 12:35 pm the markers where expensive 3 of them cost 18 dollars but it was good customer service read more
