We celebrated my daughter's 12th birthday at Michael's and it was such a great experience. The kids had an absolute blast they made tie-dye shirts, friendship bracelets, and even had time to paint. Everything was organized and easy, and the staff was so kind and helpful. I loved that we could bring our own food and drinks at no extra cost, and the space was already decorated but still allowed us to add our own touches. It felt creative, relaxed, and fun for everyone and we did it all on a tight budget! Highly recommend this for anyone looking for a unique and memorable birthday spot for kids or preteens who love crafting! Also, the hostess, was super sweet and very helpful. I'm so disgustingly disappointed in the helium they used to fill my balloons. Picked up my balloons at close to 7 PM last night, the manager knew my party would be at 10:00 the next morning. She said to keep them in a cool place. I kept them in the garage overnight where it was 48 to 60 degrees. And I get up this morning, ready to put them on the outside tables for the brunch party and they are deflated. They were touching the ceiling last night. What a waste of $126.00!! Horrible selection of sewing equipment. They don't carry bias tape in store so that was a waste of time. The back of the store STINKS by the employees only area. Genuinely made me not want to stand there but that's where the displays of machines were. I bought a new sewing machine and the didn't have any way to confidently carry it out of the store so I had to lug a huge box across the parking lot. The cashier was polite but assumed I was doing self checkout so I wasn't helped for a bit. The only good thing I can say is that my sewing machine was on sale. 1/15/24- Huge pro, they have self service machines. HUGE CON: Their human servants have terrible customer service. I can say Michael's major competitor that's closed on Sunday has customer service that is leaps and bounds above them. It was nice to know they have a semblance of a return policy, but starting the return was a painful reminder that the employee didn't appreciate that we shop there so that a job could exist for them. Then comes the guy who wished he wasn't working to complete our return. Our little guy was wondering if he was on drugs. I said don't judge, but yes, drugs. It was an unforgettable experience of poor customer service. Just glad they have a decent selection of item's and marginal value that bumps up their score to a 1.45 stars. Firstly, the layout of this store is horrendous... the aisle numbers jump and the "aisles" that are supposedly the skipped numbers aren't marked. Secondly, the service at this location is none existent. When I couldn't find the product I was looking for because the aisle the store website said it would be on was not marked, I asked a young man in the front for help. I was working on a balloon bouquet, and I would've been willing to wait for his assistance but all he said was, "it should be by the woodcutting stuff." Mind you, I am not someone who frequents Michael's, so I responded, "Can you just come show me? I've already been looking for 10 minutes." He came back with ,"It's literally right there." I'm accusing this Michaels of stealing, specifically my money. Things are deliberately overpriced 20$ above the retail price (yes you can just Google the actual price of the item) Then the item will go on "sale," for 50% off which conveniently makes the item it's original retail price. Not only that. They sell defective items. I bought Sakura ink pens recently and one of the markers straight up just didn't even work at all. They were selling that pack for 4$ with no disclaimer why, so I bought it. Little did I know it should not have been sold at all. I feel like I was scammed by a snake oil salesman but it was just this Michaels. I don't recommend going here. read more

I'm not sure what has happened to the staff that do the custom framing. We took several items in to have custom frames made. Went to pick them up and there were fingerprints and tiny particles of the mats inside the frames. It took three tries for them to get it right. They also never called us when they said they would. Won't be going back. read more

I came here with my girlfriend to look for some craft supplies. We both have tattoos and piercings but are both extremely shy and quiet. The woman in the front with the black ponytail and the dirty crusty front teeth is so rude. It ruined our entire experience. After checking out we were clearly struggling with all of our items and needed a larger bag. While walking out all while dropping things, we heard the lady ask someone if they needed a larger bag and we turned around, but she wasn't talking to us. I asked her if we could get a bigger bag as well and she laughed in my face And said "no, we don't do that". I offered to pay for the bag and she said "no we don't charge for bags" and stood there smiling in my face and refused to give me a single bag. It was so awkward and a longer interaction than normal and she still wouldn't give me a bag. It was so weird. I don't know what's wrong with the staff at this place. COVID-19 phase: They make it really easy in these times. Uni Posca markers are needed for work. They are pretty cool! Markers that work to write on cars or windows. I ordered them and even got 20% off. Let's make it even easier. I scheduled a curbside pick up, paid for it and just waited to receive a confirmation email that the order was ready to go and pick up curbside. I went and parked in their curbside pick up parking stall, called and was asked what the last 4 digits of my order was, said along with what stall I was in (#3) and it was brought to me by a nice masked worker. Yesterday I went to this Michael's and I was looking at bernat big yarn. There was a sign posted right on it that said it was on sale buy one get one half off so I spent my time picking two favorites. When I went to the register they rang up regular price. I asked for assistance and told her. She checked the computer and didn't see the sale. Then she called someone and asked them to check the bernat big yarn for the sale sign I saw. (I couldn't hear the other side of the conversation). Then she told me to go take a picture of the sign I saw. I thought that was weird since she just spoke to someone. So I went back over there to the opposite corner and the sign was gone. Someone took it down before I got over there. I know I wasn't seeing things or I never would have gotten two. So I went back to the register and told her it was gone. She didn't have a response. I told her I didn't want them so she deleted them from my screen and I left. I decided I didn't need the other stuff I was going to get either after that. They did me dirty. All they would have had to say was that sale ended and the sign shouldn't have still been there but instead they felt the need to make it look like I lied. Won't be going back. read more

This store makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop! They have SO many crafting items to offer from the tools you'll need, the materials, and organization storage options for the crafts! They also always have deals running. I always check the website before I come to see what the current deals are or if they have any coupons that'll get me a percent off my total purchase or select items. I'm always getting discounts this way. The associates here are also super friendly and helpful. The store can be a bit confusing to navigate, but they're always super knowledgeable on where everything is and if they carry it! They used to struggle with checking customers out fast, but since they've added self checkout, it's been so much faster and convenient. They also told me they have app functions that allow for even speedier checkout. A nice, big, clean Michael's craft store that's worth the visit! read more

I must've walked and walked around the whole several times and then realized that they really don't have much of a selection here. I saw some pretty cool stuff and pretty things but nothing worth purchasing. I did find Christmas wrapping paper for $1 and a Christmas pillow for $3 (originally $35). This store was also a bit cluttered and had employees standing around not doing much other than talking about one another....sad. Now I can see why they have such poor reviews. Been coming here for years. I haven't frequented this place much lately since my crafting and art needs have decreased a little. I prefer Jo-Ann's (better couponing deals) and also really like the newly opened Hobby Lobby (wider variety of craft supplies that interest me). Each store has a little something different to offer though so it comes down to personal preference. I've seen the checkout area evolve over the years be it multiple lines, one single line or rearranging the line queue. They've done away with the separate Customer Service counter up front and now there's just one line to return\ exchange or check out. It is nicer because it doesn't pull workers away from check stands or unevenly distribute help. The checkout area is more streamlined and doesn't awkwardly start down an aisle anymore making it hard for others to shop. However the place is still nightmarish at times. Depending on the season and day/ time it can get quite crazy. I went there this afternoon to browse because when can't I benefit from new crafting supplies? It is just after Christmas so they haven't really restocked or stocked all of the new merchandise yet which is fine with me. I just wanted to look around and I can't blame them or any retailer for the after Holiday frenzy. It wasn't busy, but then when I went to checkout there was a line with about 4 or 5 people ahead of me. One return and another person taking forever to pay. I wasn't in any particular hurry, but there were only two cashiers and the line behind me was piling up. I felt kind of stupid having stood in line for one item. They only accept one coupon of each type per transaction. For example a % off a single item and a % off a total purchase coupon can be used together. They will not let you use multiple % off a single item coupons like Jo-Ann's does. They DO ACCEPT competitor's coupons from stores like Jo-Ann's. There's always some kind of coupon floating around so take a minute and save yourself some money and use one! They'll even scan them right off of your smart phone. Just do a quick Google search for "Michaels mobile coupon" and bam! Hello savings. You could do the same thing for Jo-Ann's and compare coupons and choose the better of the two. Be sure to check their Sunday ads. They constantly have sales running. It's the perfect place for any crafter or DIYer. read more

I went here today for the first time in 10 years and I was reminded why I haven't gone back. They have a decent selection of items. I went here because of how packed Hobby Lobby was. I got fake flowers and an item I saw that I was interested in. When I got to the register and ready, I was already looking at $200 for just fake flowers, cheap plastic for a bouquet, and a $40 build-kit for books. I decided I was just going to try and get the flowers at Hobby Lobby (since I cannot afford $200 in fake flowers) and wanted to cancel the transaction. I had to wait for a member... So I waited... and waited.... No one ever came, but I was told a member was on the way. There was no flashing lights to notify them, so I don't know how they would know if I needed up. My baby was screaming, as she needed to go down for a nap. No one ever helped me, cashier was busy with customers. So, I walked out and left without paying, the screen left on me needing help, and took a picture of what I wanted to buy. I'll just go to Hobby Lobby or order online from now on. That'll be the last I go to Michael's. Saddest part was that I had the same excitement as I did going in as a kid. That was crushed today with the last of service and high prices. I didn't see any team members on the floor, which points me to the idea of lack of team members. With how light traffic has been here since driving past within the years, I easily see this place going out of business soon... read more

They were all 50% off, so soon my cupboards will be looking pretty spiffy! The Sunday paper ad has a 40% off coupon to use on most full price items. I try to shop local for my art supplies, like Allards, but do go to Michaels often enough. This review is based on approx. 10 years of shopping there. So not once in all my shopping experiences have they ever had enough checkers. The line is usually long and slow. I expect this so my bar of expectation isn't too high. They also don't have enough floor people. If I need spray paint, I can expect a long wait after pushing the button. But I do have a limit as to how tolerant I can be. Fall is their busiest time. Everyone is crafting for their holiday décor. So a few days ago I was in there buying artists paint (they carry the good stuff, otherwise I would go to Hobby Lobby) and as usual they had one checker and a line 20 deep. I had no cart or basket and as usual for me, I go in for one thing and carry out 10 more. So my arms were quite full. As I crept slowly to the front, I noticed the checker never once made any motion to call for backup. She was as chill as could be, paper wrapping each of the customer's 400 glass votives. I glared holes into her, glare glare, glare, boring my evil eye straight into her soul. She looked up, of course, who wouldn't, my evil eye is potent, but not enough for her to call for backup. As the line behind me grew to 20 more and as babies started crying and women grumbling louder (they too bored their evil eyes into her with no effect) another employee came to the front. Hope was in the air. We all watched her every move. Moves that made no motion to the register but to place some hold items up front for more customers to wait for eternity for. And she gave the line a cursory glance and left. LEFT. SHE LEFT us all. And the thoughtless checker never bothered to point out the obvious, that "hey, I could use a little help here". So now the line of people, stretched all the way out to the floral dept, is just not having it. Some started yelling. The checker looked up and then back to scanning the 900 stems, one. by. one. More began to yell. It took 3 times of yelling before she stopped scanning stems one. by. one. to call for backup. And who comes up? The lady that came up earlier who dropped off hold items. Of course this help comes right at my turn (where has she been all my life?) and the anger boiling up that I was saving for miss one-by-one I unleashed on her. She deserved too so not all is lost. I told her this is why Hobby Lobby is getting my business from now on. I showed her my arms, that had deep red marks from holding onto frames for an hour. She was somewhat apologetic but had no excuse for ignoring us all that time. So this is the last straw. I've put up with their crappy customer service for years but I don't have to any longer. They have way too much competition to behave this way. Aaron Brothers who NEVER had a checker and who I always had to search the store for someone who worked there and who was also owned by Michaels corp went out of business. No surprise there. With Hobby Lobby, Joanns, Allards and online shopping, I don't see Michaels staying afloat with their current business model, which is hire as few (unfriendly and non-caring) as possible and hope for the best. Their greed is going to cost them. PS the reason I'm not giving one star is only because they carry Golden paints. I'll be purchasing from Amazon. Thank you read more

The line was all the way to the back of the store and they only had two registers open. As we walked around the store I found myself having to step over and around things because the isles had merchandise everywhere. It didn't look as if the store had been organized in weeks. It reminded me of going into my teenagers bedroom. I was in utter disbelief on my way out hearing how one of the cashiers was talking to a customer. Sounded like that cashier would be better served herding convicts than trying to deal with paying customers. This is a perfect example of how management has forgotten that customers provide the paychecks for their stores existence. I would highly recommend going to the Michaels in Clovis as the store is somewhat picked up and the cashiers are friendly and helpful. read more

Michael's is a huge crafting warehouse. I always get lost in the aisles and have to ask for help in finding what I need. The sales are very good at Michael's, especially for off-season items. Always go online, to their site, so as to get a coupon for one regular priced item. I find, though, that I'm usually buying an item that's already marked down so I can't use the coupon on top of the mark down. Big complaint here--long lines at the register. But, I think that's a marketing gimmick. The line is next to all these items that they are hoping you will buy as you have to wait. If you are a die-hard crafting fanatic, this store will please you. If, like me, you just occasionally need a crafting item, you may find this store to be overkill. read more

I normally love Michaels, but I ordered a few of a certain item for curbside pickup. It said it was in stock, I get there and a gentleman brings it out and before I leave I decide to check my bag. Good thing I did because it was the wrong item. I went into the store to exchange it for the right item because I know things happen and mix ups happen. Instead I get told they're out of stock and tried giving me something similar. When someone orders something it's because thats the item they want. Not something different. I was more so upset because it was for a project I was making for my mother, for her birthday. If you are out of stock on an item please put that on your website instead of trying to put something "similar" in the order. read more

My girlfriend and I went in and they were extremely rude. And then we realized we forgot something so we had to place an order online for pick up. We placed it at 11am and it was not ready until 3pm (it was only one item). We couldn't go in and purchase it because the online price was better than the price if we went in a purchased it. So between that time we called and asked for an order update and the man we spoke to was also VERY rude. If you are unhappy in your workplace do not spread that negativity you're feeling to others, go find a new job instead. This place seems to be filled with unhappy employees. read more

I've been going to this location for years and have decent experience with in-store and online pick up orders. One of my latest experience went well with the extra care and effort of the staff. I had made an online order for pick up during the holiday season and the order was scheduled for either same day or one day pick up. I had waited an entire day and didn't receive a pick up confirmation email yet. Therefore, I decided to call the store for the order status and was informed that they were still working on orders from a few days prior due to the holiday season. It was completely understandable due to all the sales and the season. It was recommended to call again tomorrow and I followed up with them the next day. Again, the order was not ready and I eventually explained that I needed the items for a funeral that weekend with the request if they can have it ready in the next day or two. The representative informed me that they will look into. About 2 hours later, I received a call that my order was ready and was able to pick up my order that night. The order was slightly modified since I ordered bulk frames and received multiples of the single-wrapped frames in order for the store to quickly process the order for pick up. It was the same frames, therefore I have no complaints. I really admired the staff going out of their way to make sure my order was taken care of due to a sensitive time and for a delicate matter. 4 stars only for their coupon confusion! Sometimes I'm told they have to be printed out and others they can scan from my phone. Recently got the app with the coupons right on it and I didn't have a problem when I used it so hopefully it stays that way. I love, love, love Michaels! All the time! I rarely need help from the employees in terms of finding anything but once when I did ask for something that wasn't in it's normal spot, the young man said he would check so I waited and a few minutes later, I walked out of the aisle and he was across the way stocking something else! Kinda weird but ultimately not a problem for me. It's a place where I enjoy just walking around and taking my time finding different things. They have a great system for always having great sales and they always have really good coupons out. The catch is that the coupons are usually for regular priced items and since so many things are usually on sale somehow, it's sometimes hard to get a good deal using a coupon. Online order, pick up in store. Matilda refers me to wait in line for the 1 cashier to assist me while I asked her for assistance. The customer that was checking out took more than 10min. I decided to go look for the "button" and decided to use the "Buy Online Pick Up In Store" button. The line was getting longer and I was still waiting and repeatedly pressing the button. Matilda ignored me and jumped on another cashier to help lessen the store line. I had go tell her about my wait for pick up and she had the nerves to tell me that she thought I already got my item when she clearly saw me at the" Buy Online Pick Up In Store" stand. After I explained to her my observation of her and her rudeness of ignoring the "pick up message" button for 30 minutes, she apologized. I then find out she is the "Supervisor"‍As a supervisor she has poor judgment and can't set her priorities straight. Purchase online for store pick up SHOULD NOT consist of waiting at the "Buy Online Pick Up In Store" stand for 30 minutes and being ignored even after asking for her for assistance in the first place. read more
