Excellent brioche class!! Thank you so much for teaching me how to read my stitches and how the…read morerows build upon each other. I don't have to be a slave to reading the pattern since I now understand how brioche is built. I am now moving onto a sweater I've wanted to knit for years. Highly recommend the class if you offer it again.

I browsed some neat looking skeins of yarn (I did think the price of $15 for enough sock yarn to knit a single adult sock was kinda steep, but the yarn was really pretty and I was in the mindset to spend money) before I noticed a clear cupboard with knitted items and accessories with tags. Since I noticed some were tagged I thought they were all for sale. I opened the doors and started looking through stuff. There was a cool scarf I was hoping to purchase which wasn't tagged, but I didn't realize that initially. I was then approached by two staff members who asked "if they could help me." I asked if anything in the case was for sale. I noticed that they were tense and that the vibes were kind of off, so I said that if they needed me to stop looking through the case I'd step away. They informed me nothing there was for sale and I said okay and stepped away. They told me that there would be items for sale later at a separate event, but I really didn't appreciate the experience as it was. Getting the feeling this place only welcomes a certain type of person and it wasn't me. Which was a bummer, because I was super ready to drop some money. This shop will probably do just fine without my cash but jeez. I don't mind that a shop has rules, but I do think they really could have made a better effort to interact with new customers and make a clearer distinction on which items were for sale and which weren't when I stepped in. The situation could have 100% been avoided and they could have provided a better experience. (Also, if knitted items aren't for sale, why is like 1/4 of the store's displayed items knitted pieces with tags? Super confusing for someone who's been there for the first time, and it's not encouraging to have my first conversation with staff be "those aren't for sale, come back on a weekend." )

My first visit to Knit On! was a success! They have such a huge selection here, a whole room of…read moreyour natural fibers (like wool or cotton) and another room of acrylic and baby yarns. I was amazed at the selection given I am a beginner and have only shopped at Michael's Crafts for yarn. It's clear the yarns are high quality but they have some at every price point which is great. This place is so much better than the big box store where I've had a hard time finding a selection of wool yarn and things like safety eyes. Knit On! had everything I'd ever need for a project and a lot for inspiration too. There were some baby lovey kits and kits for scarves and other fun creations. There are cute pins and jewelry too! I liked how it was all well organized. The proprietor Nancy helped me and was very kind. She showed me where everything is and let me browse as I pleased. She also wound my yarn into a cake/ball for me and let me know they offer knitting lessons if I'd ever like to try! I enjoyed the visit and will definitely return for any special or nice project I want to make.

Stumbling upon this store was one of those happy accidents that left a dent in my wallet and a big…read moresmile on my face. The yarn selection is phenomenal - every color and texture you can possibly imagine. I lost track of time wandering up and down the aisles, petting nearly every skein. I think I managed to buy some of the softest things ever invented. Some of the yarns were so cool and weird that I actually did a little excited dance! I love that the woman running the shop didn't even laugh at me when I ran up to the register, smiling and giddy, and said "WHAT CAN I MAKE WITH THIS!??!" Instead, she gave me a pattern and made sure I knew how to do all of the stitches, since I told her I was a new knitter. The cat, Tanner, is the fattest cat I have ever seen, but she is absolutely adorable. She sprawls out in the aisles, and if you rub her belly, she'll lay on her back with her legs stretched out and look like a big ole pillow. It's also a nice bonus that they'll wind your yarn for you if you buy any hanks. In my case, this ended up being a double-edged sword though, because I wandered around and found more things that I simply had to buy. Nice trick! I love shopping in small yarn stores like this because they also give you so many project ideas! Looking up on top of a shelf and seeing a beautiful shawl constructed with the yarn you're holding in your hand is awesome and gives you a much better idea of how the yarn actually looks in a project. I can't wait to come back to this place! If only they could pick it up and move it to Columbus!!
