Stencils for petals you can cut from any paper and then assemble. Several flower styles available. Amazing.

Michaels is my go to new favorite place. I've been using arts and crafts as an escape rather than how I normally de-stress (aka going out drinking). Every time I go, it's so organized and clean. The customer service is excellent! Today I had a representative asked me if I needed help, which I did not but he made small talk with me and said "look, we are kind of slow so if there's anything I can help you with please let me know." I thought that was very kind. They are also very inquisitive and often ask you during check out what you are making. Though I was slightly embarrassed the last time I was asked, it does make you feel special because of what you are doing and what you are creating. And that is the purpose to create art, however and by what ever method you so choose. I definitely recommend signing up to become a Michaels rewards member. You can redeem special deals and coupons just by punching in your phone number, and Michael's runs so many different specials and coupons, you can save a lot of money by strategizing your shopping trips. Today I went in with no coupons and I still saved over $10 so it's something I definitely recommend doing. Give it a try, come up with a project and just--do it!

Michaels is the best. They have the friendliest staff ever and everyone at this particular Michaels has been so helpful!!! They have everything you need from glitter to custom framing (although in this area I love Poets for framing more!), but they have it!!! The shopping center is super convenient and has lots of other great shops for staples like Five Below, Petco, and TJ Max. 5 stars, highly recommend for all your art/craft/quelling boredom needs.

Great options for custom frames!

I love this location! There was a fixture in the way of an area I was looking at... an associate came and moved it without even being asked! The store was extremely clean and easy to find the items I needed. The shopping center this Michael's was located had a Petsmart, TJ Maxx, Ross, and a few others! Great place for multiple errands!

Road view.

The store is well stocked and always clean and has a nice bakers section and a nice selection of paints and kid's crafts. The coloring books are very nice. What keeps me from giving more stars is that I'm new in town. I've been living in a city that only had a Hobby Lobby and I knew how to work the e-coupons. Here, I didn't bother to see if they did until I had already checked out and the woman behind me whipped out her iPhone. They were running a 40% off one regular priced item and 25% off entire purchase. I ended up coming back that same day to pick up a few things I was more certain about wanting and by then had wizened up. Hint for the business: if you had asked me if I knew about the online smart phone coupons rather than watch me spend $100 on coloring books for my nieces, I'd have been grateful and probably been glad to return.

baskets have an extendable handle that turns it into a roller!

Is it in a bad neighborhood?

In terms of shopping, there is always ample parking and I feel safe in their lot. Hope that helps!

Ed. Smith's Stencil Works - Rubber Stamp from 1943!

Before I get to the main body of my review, I want to mention their old location. Located on Camp Street in a very old building, the amount of history in that place was truly amazing. In their case were old police badges, old signs, etc. that they had made throughout the years. I was really sad to see them move from the old spot, but the new place is much more customer friendly. Now in Mid-City, there is ample street and lot parking. Inside the store is clean, modern and efficient. There are many items on display that show the range of things they can create. Everything from vinyl signs to super high end markers for mausoleums. The favorite piece of mine is the old wheelbarrow branded with the Ed Smith logo prominently displayed in the lobby. But looking at cool things is not why I come. I have had many different items made by Ed Smith over the years including name tags, desk name plates, office door plates and most recently self-inking stamps. The quality of their stamps is first rate. They even handled a difficult custom job for me that I picked up today. While not cheap, I have never seen a self- inking stamp so large or so clear. The staff are very helpful and even willing to deal with difficult customers who have unrealistic expectations (Me). I am sure you can go to some national company for these kinds of things, but trust me, Ed Smith is the best at what they do, and they are local.

I set out looking specifically for a set of voodoo themed playing cards as a souvenir from my trip. Not only did they have one, but it was a custom design by the owner. So amazing! His mother was running the shop while he was away and she was extremely helpful and knowledgeable answering all my questions and sharing lots of fun details about the shop, the business, and New Orleans. I'm definitely coming back next time I'm in town.

The owner was super knowledgeable, telling us the history behind the NOLA drawings of voodoo and history, as well as their ties to the playing cards that were drawn by one of the owners. Everything was clean, and well laid out and super affordable. They also had some tarot decks and books, which my friend was interested in, and she was directed to their nearby storefront for a much wider selection of items. We popped over there to browse and again loved the layout and store. The cashier was another family member, keeping the business family run, and was also super helpful in explaining the various decks and books, so my friend was able to get the right tools as an intro to tarot. Highly suggest for all of you tarot and card deck needs!
