Mo?......Mo? Are you there? Newishly relocated to a cool old church building, Mo has found its forever home. I'm really at Mo's for one reason and that's spray paint and paint pens. While they have all kinds of cool things..... wait I did buy my neighbor Bill a pair of Vincent VanGogh socks and a tiny bendable man model... I usually buy spray paint. The staff is pretty friendly and knowledgeable. When they see me they head stead the they can cages to unlock them and if you see there's one color completely out of stock, well I'm sorry it was probably me. I really love this shop that has filled an incredible void in our community. Located along a quiet section of Bienville it features a parking lot with plenty of space (yes, truly!) Art supplies galore and a knowledgable staff - what an excellent combination! While searching for some fairly specific items for my niece, as a present, I was clued in by a staff member to a few sale items that were as good - if not better - and provided an explanation as to why those items were as good or better! The paper selection and canvas was nice, as were all of the options for paints and tools. The lagniappe in my opinion was stumbling upon the blackwing pencils (which I love) that were not marked up to an unreasonable price!! (I know - but sometimes it is the little things) The knowledge and selection here make it well worth it to go here for your art supplies rather than a big box retailer. read more

I consider myself a multi-disciplinary creative who likes to try new things. I've always been "afraid" of painting, but I wanted to give it a shot and thought watercolor would be a good place to start. I walked into Mo's in MidCity, saw too many beautiful supplies, and immediately knew that I needed help with where to even begin! I asked the young man working who assisted me in finding everything I needed. He showed me mostly beginner-friendly items at a lower price point, making mention of things I could come back for if I discovered I enjoyed it enough to invest more money into it. Mo's is a really neat store that's built into a converted church which creates a really calming atmosphere to walk around in. The selection is impressive, with a ton of materials, mediums, tools to create almost anything you can think of. The folks who work at the store a all really knowledgeable and easygoing, with a clear ethos of helping others to be as creative as possible. Mo's is the best art supply store in town. They have an incredible, diverse selection of supplies to fit a multitude of needs. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. As well, their frame shop has a great selection of frames and they all have great eyes for design. Also, the building is super rad. read more

Mo's is super expensive. I could fly to NY buy my art supplies and fly back and it would cost me less. Mo's also has a shockingly poor selection of oil paint, hardly any canvas' or art paper. Poor selection of supplies for me. They did have a ton of brushes and painting knives ($$$). read more

This store may have already moved to its new location in Midcity and if it has, I'll have to re-write this review! I had NO idea this little art supply store existed until I found myself in a bind while constructing my latest Mardi Gras costume. I had to change the color of some netting I had, and the dyes and bleach weren't working. I had the option to spray paint, but the netting was dotted with beadwork and I didn't want to spray the entire thing and turn it into a monochromatic piece. A friend suggested paint markers, and that her favorite brand was available at this shop. I have lived in New Orleans for 11 years and all this time thought it was JUST a frame shop! I had no clue that it had paints, pencils, pots, papers and more! So I stopped in and picked up two different brand of paint markers. (They did the trick btw!) Made conversation with the lovely clerks and found out they are relocating to a BIGGER space in Midcity near Whole Foods! Isn't it nice when a locally owned business has to expand rather than downsize!? So, do yourself a favor, the next time you need supplies for your latest arts and crafts project, please check out Mo's before the next Big Box store! read more

I really enjoy checking out stationary stores and this was at the top of my list of ones in New Orleans. The inside is packed with products and is full of stuff for writing, painting, and illustration. I ended up getting some decorative paper (covered in cute hedgehogs) and I'm really excited to use it. The person behind the counter was really nice in helping us determine what paper to get (they have a bunch of different types of decorative paper). They also have a selection of artsy gifts and cards and I really want to come back sometime to buy more stuff! read more

I visited Mo's recently and purchased supplies for printmaking. The store is very well stocked and is charmingly located in an old church. More importantly, the customer service was superior and knowledgeable. I really felt like they cared that I was there and wanted me to be successful in my attempt to add printmaking to my studio. They had everything I needed, they even pulled a kit out of recently received merchandise when they could have made more money off of my buying each component separately. The only thing I noticed that I would miss is that they do not stock Golden Open acrylics, which I use in my studio. However, this is a great place to shop! read more
