Paint! What a fun place to be creative! I love that it's right downtown in beautiful Stillwater…read more I took my son here during his MEA break. We made a reservation ahead of time which was super easy by calling the studio a handful of days earlier. A reservation is optional. We were greeted by Andy who showed us the ropes regarding picking a ceramic piece, paint, & showed us to our table which was right up against the windows so we had some nice natural light. It was a relaxing atmosphere and I love how stress just melts away when you're painting. I decided on a llama succulent plant holder while my kiddo decided on the Eiffel Tower. The staff are great and friendly. You can also paint canvases if you want. They also host bday parties too! Tips: The staff will want you to do 3 coats of paint before you're done. If you don't finish your masterpiece during your visit - you can come back 1 more time to finish up. The price of the object includes the paint, firing the object, smocks, paint brushes and your time and table. Tipping is optional but appreciated.

The people who work here are on top of things, but also chill. I don't normally get all excited for places like this, but I definitely recommend Kari's! There are two types of paint. One you can take home same day and the other requires you to pick it up about a week or so later. They give you a month to pick up. We just walked in on a summer Friday afternoon. I would guess most of the time they have room for a group of 4 during walk in hours.

BUYER BEWARE! I stopped in looking for something specific…read morefor a birthday gift for my daughter, not just to browse, so it would have been helpful to be greeted right away. I was not. I didn't realize it at first, but there was a worker sitting behind a display by the door who didn't acknowledge me until I had been there for a while. There were no other workers in the main area. When I finally was greeted, the woman seemed annoyed I was there. It didn't feel very welcoming, to say the least. Eventually, I was able to get help from someone else who then enlisted the help of a third person to make sure the specialty foot I wanted was right for my daughter's machine. I was happy for the help. $53 later, I was on my way. It turns out, the specialty foot was not going to work for what my daughter needed it for, so I went in to return it. I was told the sale was final and I could not return it. As I stood at the counter in disbelief, I did see a sign lying flat on the counter among all the other notes and clutter that all sales were final. This sign could have easily been covered by other items when I initially purchased the foot. I absolutely would not have purchased it if I had known I couldn't return it since I was unsure whether it would work for my daughter. The two women who helped me knew it was for a gift and that I wasn't even sure it would work for her machine and her projects, but they didn't tell me there were no returns. The receipt also said nothing about a return policy - only that I should share my experience on social media. I try my best to buy from small businesses, even if the price is higher. This time I regret it. Though they didn't offer store credit, I would have taken that at the time. Before I left, someone wrote down an explanation of my situation and took my name and number so the owner could call me back. It's been a week or two and I have received no call. Other reviews also mention they receive no response from this shop. I wish I would have done some research before I made my purchase. When customers are happy and taken care of, they share their experiences with others. When customers are not treated well, they share their experiences with others.

I give huge props to Martha in the Framing area. She has given me so much advice on how to frame signed jerseys and how to make them look better. I highly recommend if you are doing any framing work to see her as she really treats your work like it's going on her own wall and will be very OCD with your final product.

Christmas items were all 40% off. The prices on the other items in the store were all various types of sales. Some sales prices were great deals while others (especially Christmas projects) were still not even a deal at all yet. There are no employees available anywhere except at the front check out. There were two check out lanes open and three self checkout computers. One employee had to stand near the self checkout to call people over to use them. The employees, including the one who was currently ringing someone up, would be yelling out to the line ... "If you are paying by credit or debit, there are self checkout registers open." Because I wasn't using self- checkout, the woman finished my order without ever talking to me except when she yelled across, "I can help the next person." There was no further talking. My items were simply tossed in a bag. Somehow 2 of the 4 spools of thread that I wanted to purchase got lost before I bought them. The store was hot, busy, chaotic, with a meandering line instead of one that followed the path they prefer because there were not enough associates. I did find all the items I needed. However, all categories of merchandise were spread apart because there would be some in the aisle and some in the end caps. It was a frustrating and still productive trip. But know your prices before you go!

I'm not a model train guy, but am equally astounded by their selection and all of the supplies and accessories they stock for that hobby. Their selection of new kits is very deep and very well organized. The vintage kit selection is varied and reasonably priced. And bargains can be found in the back room if you know what you're doing. Staff is uniformly friendly; I am always greeted when I arrive. If I have a question or need help, it's always fast and efficient. if I just want to wander around and window shop, they don't seem to have a problem with that. This place is a real gem. A throwback to a time when shops like this dotted the twin cities. I haven't seen a shop like this since I used to shop at the old Moeller hobby shop in Robbinsdale. On the rare occasion I need something they don't stock, I will buy online. For everything else, there's no other shop anywhere who gets my business. This place is an absolute treasure.
