I can't believe the bad reviews on here about Michaels in Peterborough. I am glad we have one here. I have been to many Michaels stores all over including several in Toronto and I always find everything I need here and have had great interactions with the people who work here. I have hardly ever had a good experience at this location. With limited competition for artists & crafters Michael unfortunately has the market in town tied up. The staff needs better customer service training. They are never cheerful and always seem annoyed by questions and queries. Something must stink from the corporate headquarters on down. I recently placed and order ..it did not come in despite my repeat calls to the store. When it finally arrived late on the long weekend with covid quarantine I could not pick it up as the store was closed. It was after the required time frame a manager called to say it had finally arrived, long overdue. I could not pick up the same day he called and when I decided to pick up next day Michael's informed me they canceled the order, and too bad for me I would have to order again. Honestly I am not pleased and will take to ordering my stuff from other sources from now on. Shop here if you must but don't expect a stellar experience. You wont find it. read more

It's great that all the staff were wearing masks, it seems like they were really focused on the health and safety of everyone. At the beginning of COVID-19 I ordered 3 items from online and when I went to do curbside pickup I brought the items home when I looked in the bag there were only 2/3. I needed that other item so I went back online and ordered it again. When I did curb-side pickup again the item I got wasn't at all like it was in the description. Finally I just went into the store and looked around for the right item. (When I did curbside pickup the first time there was the most horrid lady yelling at everyone who was pulling up right at the curbside for curbside pickup because "that spot is for wheelchair people", there were barely any people in the parking lot anyway!) Since then I've been in the store twice and haven't seen the horrid lady. When I have gone in there was hand sanitizer at the door and stickers for distancing. There was also someone who was greeting everyone at the door and being all smiley, letting us know if we need any help we can just ask. All the other employees in the store were also cheery and helpful. If you need something for crafts or anything from Michaels it's best to go in the store. They have better deals and WAY more items to choose from. Overall they have mostly nice employees, are being safe and have lots of stock. read more

Went to Michaels Peterborough around lunchtime to get ideas for how to hang a wallhanging I bought in Peru. I searched the entire store for saleshelp and finally found someone close to the shopping carts. I asked her suggestion and she said she wasn't qualified to give an opinion and that I should talk to the woman in framing. She called the woman on her phone and told her I was on my way over. The woman in framing said she just had to hang up her coat and she'd be right with me. A few minutes past and another customer lined up behind me. When the clerk came out she started asked the woman behind me if she could help her. Didn't ask me anything, acknowledge that I was even standing there, like I was a ghost. To make matters worse, the customer behind me didn't even ask if I'd been looked after but went into her inquiry?! I wanted a minute or so and asked the clerk why she hadn't served me first. She said "oh I just thought this lady had a question". I said I also had a question and had been waiting for her. Both offered apologies and she gave me a couple of suggestions and gave me aisle numbers to go searching for my purchases. After looking up and down a bunch of aisles I still didn't have the merchandise I needed to put up my wall hanging. There are not enough clerks on the floor and customer service was very poor today. read more

I have been to many Michaels stores and this is one of the worst I have been to. The employees are some of most miserable looking people I have even seen working. No one greeted me, no had a smile, some of them were standing around talking and I had to walk around them! The cashier was unpleasant and didn't speak to me at all. I would not shop at this Michaels for any reason ever! read more
