I have been trying to teach myself guitar (largely unsuccessfully) for a few years. About a year…read moreago I decided to get serious about guitar and found the Los Angeles School of Guitar on Yelp. I feel like since starting lessons with Dave my playing has improved tremendously. He is a really knowledgeable player and an overall great guy. Whatever your musical goals are--whether you just want to learn a few songs for fun or really want to get heavy into theory and creating your own music--Dave can definitely help you achieve them. He is really patient and explains things very clearly. If you are having trouble with something you are working on, he encourages you to text or email him. He really wants you to get better and tailors his lessons so that you get the most enjoyment out of learning. For those looking to get into performing and songwriting, he organizes a workshop every month where his students can get together and jam. When we first started, I told him I really wanted to develop a strong musical foundation to help improve my playing and explore my potential creatively. At the time that seemed like a really daunting goal, yet today I feel like I have enough tools to start creating and collaborating with others. Dave is a true professional, a passionate and talented musician, and just an overall great guy. Highly recommended.

He has a lot of patience and understanding for his students, which is always appreciated. He makes learning really fun by teaching with your musical taste in mind and helps you learn songs you like while teaching you technique as well. He worked with my already crazy schedule was his lessons are VERY reasonably priced for his level of expertise. I really felt he went above and beyond with his teaching. He is very passionate about his work and it shows in all ways. He also offers his help while you practice at home, you can email him with any questions you have about the material and he gets back to you promptly. I could not recommend enough!

Hey Guitar Center, my favorite band, Air Supply, is getting a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on October 8th. You guys should do their hand prints for the front of your store! Just sayin'! Such a well put together store. I cannot say enough about this place! I love the Cymbal & Drum room, being I'm a drummer. Your drum guy is super cool & awesome. Love the Eddie Van Halen mural out back behind the store. You should add Dolly Parton! I'm shocked her hand prints aren't out front! My fellow Yelp musicians, you NEED to come see this AWESOME Guitar Center! It's one of my favorite things besides the Hollywood Sign!

I was surprised by the exterior entrance. It was it's own experience. There are tons of plaques of handprints and signatures of famous musicians and bands. It's really cool and I enjoyed looking at all of them seeing who I could find. When you enter the store you see how big it is. It has several sections with different types of instruments. There is a variety of guitars, a drum section with cymbals and so many other things. As far as service goes we had limited conversations. We just walked in and the person working at the front just kind of looked at us and nodded. One person passing by us did say that if we needed anything or if we had any questions to let him know but that was about it. Overall this Guitar Center visit was okay. The exterior plaques are really cool to look at, and the store is huge with a variety of musical instruments to look at or purchase.

Beautiful space on hollywood blvd. Anyway...I'm a big fan. I wrote this because I read these 1 star reviews of how mean they are...which I never experience. Whenever I have gone in person the people at the front desk are very hostile towards me. I know it's not because of how i'm speaking because all conversations over the phone have been completely positive. So why are they so horrible towards me when I walk in? Canceled my classes solely because of how hostile both the woman and man act every single time. Which is unfortunate because the music teacher I had was very knowledgeable.

She truly understands the anatomy of your unique voice and will tailor the lesson based on your needs. She is also an incredible vocalist with a deep understanding of all musical styles. The vocal adjustments she taught me were life-changing. I was in LA for three months rehearsing for a contemporary new-musical. During rehearsals, I was having a lot of trouble with placement and breath control. I needed to see a coach ASAP. New to LA, I had no idea what to expect, but thank god I found Emily on Yelp. We trained nearly everyday to the point where she had improved my voice so much, our company's director asked who I was learning from in LA. She then signed on as the production's official vocal coach. The improvements are instant. I've seen vocal coaches who are over $350 an hour and don't put in half the effort as Emily does. She makes sure every note, every word, and every phrase is exactly how you want to sound. I was blown away by her ability. She also has one of the most angelic singing voices I've ever heard. It was such a joy to learn from her and to hear her sing. I cannot recommend her enough.

She focuses the first third of the class on vocal exercises that train proper techniques. Then, she dives into your 1-2 pieces afterwards. She's more of a vocal coach and trainer than a lecturer, which is awesome! There were several instructors in my past experience that would take a lot of time demonstrating and explaining when I really just need to try it myself. She's also such an incredibly kind, responsible person. I didn't have a lot of formal training experience growing up. I started group lessons in college as a fun elective. I took it for several semesters and performed within the class. After graduating, I started getting more obsessed with singing. I wanted to improve my voice and found Emily! I definitely noticed my singing voice improve within the last year. I'm sad she left to LA!
