This Guitar Center is THE primo store. Based in Hollywood so you never know who you could see shopping there. Very good selection of drum kits, keyboards, guitars, & anything else for the musician. Be sure to walk out front & check out the famous hand prints & plaques.

Phones are a mess. Don't expect proficient customer service. Not enough staff. Ordered my Martin, wrong one came. Had guitar lesson and the drums were so loud in next room, even my teacher had to go tell them to quiet down. And they gave me 8 days to put a pick up in my Martin and it's day 7 and hasn't been touched. I'm so disappointed in this location.

I would like to start by shouting Vega out from the location off Pico in the Westwood area. I went over there not knowing they closed that location down and he was cool and talked to us for a bit. This Sunset location is awesome. It's huge and has so much selection from every instrument. Everyone that has approached me has been super cool and I spoke to one gentleman about guitar lessons. I actually plan on buying a new guitar soon and picking up some lessons. Highly recommend this place to come see some fun signed guitars or the band handprints from bands as you walk in. I got to play some drums and it really brought me back to some good old days. I look forward to coming back with my kid so she can play some instruments.

Mike Great person to work with! Very efficient and fast he clearly loves what he does. His prices are reasonable, and he's extremely accurate in his observations. He adjusted my bass and fixed my pickups perfectly. He really knows his stuff!

Guitar Center repair shop offers great customer service. I came in at one in the afternoon with an intermittent wiring issue on my acoustic / electric and Zach was there and took care of it in less than 15 minutes. The other repair shops make you wait a week before you can even call them to see if anything's been done on your instrument. Guitar Center charged the fair price of $45 which I was happy about. Their excellent Customer Service is better than other repair shops I've gone to for repairs. GC is my new go-to for service and repairs.

If you are looking to purchase a guitar don't look any further just head down to Guitar Center. They have it all. Any budget any size and quality. What a great selection of electric guitars and acoustic as well. The staff is knowledge and will help you choose the right one. They also have other instruments and accessories. They also offer classes on the second floor. Overall a great place to shop from

Ask the Community - Guitar Center

Is there a trick to getting someone on the phone? I've been calling for a couple of days as I can't make it to the store and it just rings out every time. Not even an answer phone.

you're going to have to go in person sadly. if you call a specific department (super niche) then ask to be transferred to the correct department you may have more luck. if you can, i would go in person -- however you mentioned that you can't make it…

Does anyone know if they sell turntables? specifically the lp120?

    yes they do

Does anyone know if Guitar Centers are open for in store shopping? I called two GC's but no answer so not even sure how the curbside pickup would work if no one is there.

Yes they are, I am waiting in line at the Hollywood location. They are limiting the amount of customers that are in store at one time. But they are open for in store shopping.

Lloyd is clearly expert at both instruments and adapted the lessons to meet me exactly where I was at. It was especially helpful to bring attention to some habits I picked up from random self-learning; Lloyd immediately notices details that, when adjusted, makes a world of difference. Lesson plans were very flexible which was helpful when I was interested in many different things. He's very patient, easy to talk to, and makes things fun so I didn't feel frustrated being a stumbling beginner and was able to focus on refining skills :) Looking forward to the next class!

On top of being a talented musician and teacher, Lloyd is just an overall great guy - easy to work with, encouraging, and genuinely invested in your growth. This review is specifically about an acoustic guitar setup in the service department…read more I paid $95 for the setup service. I am dissappointed in the results and would not recommend their repair or setup services. The final results show a lack of quality control. I love the vibe of McCabe's and the 'grab and play anything you want' attitude which is rare at guitar stores these days. The staff have always been welcoming and don't hover or bother you unless you have a question. I even saw what appeared to a homeless person come in and ask to use the bathroom and the staff was kind and treated the person with respect and care. I've been a long time visitor, and needed a setup done on an acoustic guitar so I thought I'd bring it in and give them some business. Because the store is about a 30-45 minute drive for me, I asked if they could do it while I waited around the neighborhood and they said they were backed up and likely wouldn't get to it that day. I said ok and left it there and they called me about 2 hours later to say it was done and ready to get picked up, so I completely could have just waited for it. I wasn't able to make it back to the store for a few days (because it's a long drive), and when I picked up the guitar I was in a hurry and didn't spend a lot of time checking it out in the store. I pulled it out for a quick few strums to make sure the high action near the body was fixed, and it was, so I packed up the guitar and brought it home. Lesson learned - spend time at the store/shop when you are picking up your guitar. Spend more time than you think you should, better to find any issues at the shop before you get home. When I got home and saw the guitar in better lighting, I noticed there were a bunch of areas where there was some wax or polish that was obviously not buffed out. So the first thing I did was to spend about 5 minutes going over the whole guitar with a soft cloth to try and buff out all of the polish. Not a big deal, but obviously nobody at the store did any final check of the guitar, or if they did they would have seen this and just didn't care to do anything about it - just felt like poor quality control and lack of care. (Also - this is a matte finish guitar, so I'm not sure you're supposed to put polish on it at all..?) Then once I finished buffing out all of the leftover wax/polish, I tuned it and up and immediately discovered that both the A and the G string were buzzing while being played open. So I ended up spending another 10-15 minutes doing a truss rod adjustment to get the guitar into playable condition. Another indication that nobody bothered to check or play the guitar after the tech put it back together, or they would have clearly heard the buzzing strings. Or they just didn't care enough to fix it. For $95 I would expect the guitar to be able to come out of the case and look and play well without me having to do any additional work. I'm sad to have had this experience with a store a I have really grown to appreciate and enjoy.

So there's the convenience factor. Next, it's family-owned, not some big corporate offshoot of BofA or whoever, and their payday loan subsidiary that's staffed by surly unshaven bums. The Brothers are actually brothers, and their mom is often there, too. She'll come out from the back occasionally and pass out candies. The shop itself is a fun browse - they seem to favor old radios and antique-y things - usually one of the vintage vacuum-tube radios is playing the Classical station, depending on which of the brothers is in that day. Rudy tends to go for the classical. Ernie seems to lay off the radios. This shop also tends to have more art than others. There is a very nice bronze sculpture there now. Musical instruments are also a specialty at this shop. Of course, jewelry of all kinds is available, and always welcome if you need a loan. They really know watches. The really good thing about this pawnshop, what really sets it apart from the others, is the guys who work there. Particularly Rudy and Ernie, the "Brothers" who own the place, and Cameron, who's been there a long time. They actually care. They are friendly and understanding, not cold and brusque like you'd expect from a pawnbroker. They aren't there just to take your stuff - I think they actually want you to get through whatever tough patch it is that brought you there with your jewelry or whatever. If they can't give you as much as you want for whatever you bring in, they actually sound a bit apologetic about it. These are nice people, and when you need to hock something, that goes a long way, too. One of the guys there told me that they have a very low percentage of people who don't eventually redeem their stuff, and he was quite proud of it. I don't recall exactly, but I think it was something fewer than 10% who don't manage to eventually get their things back. I've bought stuff there, and I've pawned stuff there, for probably 10 years. So, if you find yourself in need of a pawnshop, I give this one my highest recommendation.
