I cannot believe I have not left Michelle a review yet. I have been seeing Michelle since my first pregnancy back in 2019. We had been struggling to get pregnant with our first and my friend recommended acupuncture with Michelle. We started some fertility treatments and acupuncture at the same time and I was able to get pregnant. Michelle was supportive, caring, and incredibly relaxing. I do attribute my ability to get pregnant to her. I was in a stressful role professionally and needed to mindfully prioritize my body and future baby- Michelle helped me with that. Over the years I have seen her on and off for general acupuncture and my husband also has seen her for dry needling for his sore muscles since he does a lot of trail running. I also saw Michelle when we were trying with our second and again she helped a lot and we got pregnant with her help and IVF. Cannot recommend Michelle enough. She is effective, open, empathetic, and has become a great supportive pillar in my health and wellness journey. She deeply cares about her patients and takes a lot of pride in her work and her craft. I want to preface this by saying I don't usually have the time amidst chasing a toddler to write reviews, even for some of my good experiences. The experience I had in Michelle's office surpassed "good," and I feel an obligation to others seeking health and personal awakening to share my experience. Upon your arrival, Michelle will treat you like a beloved, old friend. She will grace you with her warm welcome and invite you to share some tea with her as you sit down for an initial background. This conversation will not be intimidating or feel like an interview. It will feel much like a coffee date with a loved one; casual, yet intimate and kind. She felt familiar to me, like a kindred spirit. During this time, her experience and education will become quite apparent to you, though she will never make you feel as though she's talking "down"to you as practitioner to patient. Michelle is humble, and will guide you through the conversation with careful and thoughtful questions so you don't get overwhelmed. She has a maternal energy about her that helps you find peace before your treatment has even begun. Next is the actual acupuncture treatment. I'm not sure where to even begin, other than by saying : You will transcend. I felt I reached a new and unique self awareness and sort of "enlightenment" in just one treatment. As odd as it sounds, I felt out of my own body in the best way humanely possible. I explained before hand to her that mediation is difficult for me. I am a chronic over thinker, obsessor, and struggle with anxiety and panic. Rarely has meditation worked for me in the way I practiced. The remarkable guided visualizations and meditative acupuncture treatment is so personal and so in depth that you will actually feel that everything she is saying in your visualization is actually happening. I've been to acupuncture before, and thought it wasn't for me. I believed my personality type was one that could never tap into my deeper self. I had just gone to the wrong person. When she left me in the room for some moments of solitary and peace, I came out of this beautiful awakening crying and feeling as if I had returned to my 7 year old body and soul. When she came in I told her that God doesn't answer prayers he sends people, and I believe he sent her to me. I was at the ends of my ropes, and didn't wish to keep fighting until I met Michelle. She saved my life. She is an expert in her field, I have no doubt. Thank you Michelle, and god speed to all of those reading this who need the love she can provide. If there were more stars, I would give her all the stars. I can't explain how gifted a healer Michelle is. I was referred to Michelle after a particularly terrible experience with another SF based acupuncturist and chinese medicine doctor. The other person I was seeing was the same price, but didn't seem to care at all about my overall health and care as well as getting me in and out of her office in record time. Having wasted quite a lot of money with the first acupuncturist, I was concerned about cost with Michelle. She was so willing to work with me and figure out a plan within my budget. So, I decided to give her a try. AND WOW! I'm so glad I did. I was heading into a pretty major surgery a few weeks after I started seeing her. My first session she took her time understanding the my whole picture of my health and really got to know me. When I went into the healing room, she did guided meditations with me to sooth my anxiety about the surgery as she placed the needles. I won't go into how incredible every single session has been since that but will say that I sailed so smoothly through my surgery with her help. I hadn't expected to, but I continue to see her because her presence alone is soothing, she is a natural healer and she is already helping me with my next set of health-related goals, which I hope to sail through as smoothly as my surgery. The cost of a session can definitely feel prohibitive at first, but once you meet with her, you'll see that it's worth every penny. read more

I tried this only because I still had chronic hip pain and cramping after trying Myofascial release therapy, negative X-ray and MRI results, and several visits to a Doctor of Osteopathy. Those therapies did help, but not completely. I'm so glad I tried Acupuncture. I've had 8 sessions so far and I've had some of the best days I've had in four years. On many days since, I have been almost pain free. I couldn't have imagined it coming from four years of chronic pain. Dr. Kuroda is excellent at her craft. The acupuncture sessions put me in a state of deep relaxation - almost a trance, and sometimes I would drift off to sleep during the session. Also, part of the therapy can involve dietary changes. Dr. Kuroda was very persuasive in getting me to commit to significant changes to diet in order to reduce chronic inflammation and get better sleep. This is difficult, and it really helps to have someone like Dr. Kuroda, who has true convictions and knowledge on this subject. I can't say enough good things about Michelle. Not only is she a patient tranquil and caring person but also she is an amazing accupuncturist. I have seen other acupuncturists but there is only one Michelle. Before seeing her, I had a huge fear of needles and practically had a panic attack thinking of a needle... now I beg her to give me the "magic sticks" to help my ailments and for me to meditate. She respected my fear of needles and helped me so much! She is full of integrity and really knows her stuff; she has also made great referrals to traditional medicine doctors. If it wasn't for her, I would still get debilitating migraines 8 times a month; with her help I was able to get down to one a month around the time of my cycle (this was after I had seen multiple doctors and a neurologist)! She helped me figure out my triggers and get me balanced. I also give her credit for helping me through my pregnancy and if it wasn't for some homeopathic recommendations I am not sure I would have gotten pregnant in the first place! Michelle is simply the best doctor I have been to. I have been to a couple of infertility doctors and no one really take out the time to make sure that everything about me and my body is working at the optimal state. She gave me hope that I can still get pregnant at my age (way over 40 :)). We are going thru GI tract testing and I didn't know that your GI tract has a big part on you getting pregnant. So I've been seeing an acupuncturist for about three months now, and I must say, you CAN feel the needles. They're like little pricks of electricity that flow from the spot of contact to the ends of my toes. And generally, when experiencing electrocution of any sort, I get nervous. But in this case, there is a method to this madness. Acupuncture is a form of relaxation and healing that can fill the void that medicine often neglects. It takes your whole being into consideration, not just your body. Michelle is unlike the acupuncturists I'd tried before. There was no hippie atmosphere, and her office was sparse, clean, and uncluttered. There was no hanging Buddha on the wall, and no giant painting of mother earth planting a seedling staring me down. She is a sophisticated soul with an elegant style. I felt as if I fit in, and did not feel the need to put on patchouli and love beads after our session. She also has two offices, one centrally located Downtown and the other in Noe Valley. The Downtown office is small, but easily accessible by MUNI. And the O'Farrell parking garage is literally across the street. Her hours are flexible to a point, but getting an appointment before 4 is generally more available. Michelle is also well-versed in all things Chinese herbal, and will send you home with "prescribed" remedies for any given ailment. She has a light touch, and is so likable I wanted to bring her delicious cupcakes the next appointment. (The chances of delicious cupcakes making it from my hands to her office are slim, but it's the THOUGHT that counts.) read more

While I'm typically not a Yelp reviewer, I am compelled to share my outstanding experiences with Michelle. I originally started seeing Michelle for fertility assistance at One Medical (and now I see her at her private office in the Flood Building). She is a wealth of information and an incredible resource. Not only did she *successfully* help with fertility, she guided me on a fertility-friendly diet and she also addressed other GI issues I had with certain foods. I was basically clueless about everything (before, during and after I was pregnant), and Michelle was always so informative and patient, guiding me every step of the way. I continued to see Michelle throughout my pregnancy and when I was scheduled to be induced, Michelle helped "accelerate" things naturally so that I was able to go into labor without the need to be medically induced. I feel that I was armed with such wonderful support throughout my entire journey. After delivery, I went to Michelle to help increase lactation (and it was also a wonderful way to have an hour to relax and re-balance after having a newborn). I am currently seeing Michelle for shoulder pain/issues (that I think are a result of baby lifting and bad posture while nursing!). And again, Michelle is proving to be extremely knowledgeable and has been able to help me address a completely different issue. Her treatments are a great complement to my physical therapy. After each visit, I have increased rotation and movement in my shoulders, and less pain! I feel so fortunate to have had Michelle as my practitioner, and I know I will continue to seek her treatments, advice and guidance on all things health and wellness related. read more

Michelle knows what she's doing. It's so relieving to be around someone with a large range of knowledge for both treatment and advice. She really listens and takes notes. She follows up on issues you spoke about earlier and addresses them throughout the treatments. She cares and is willing to help with anything in any way she can to make, you feel better. She gives me a ton of time each appointment to talk through everything I'm going through and she really listens. Michelle is fabulous! Words can barely express how much she changed my life. I suffered from terrible eczema for about 6 years that had sort of taken over my life. I was in almost constant pain, could barely travel, could never sleep through the night, and hadn't worn a dress or shorts in years because my skin was so disfigured. 5 stars is not enough! I have been seeing Michelle for 6 years now. I had been to many acupuncturists around the city before seeing Michelle and I can tell you she is the best! From the moment I walked in, she immediately made me feel comfortable. She listened to everything I had to say without rushing me. She is empathetic, knowledgeable and not just about her field. She offers great advice when asked, has wonderful suggestions and most of all she really does care! She always follows up with you quickly whether you leave a VM or send an e-mail. Whenever I am looking for a doctor or service for something, if she doesn't know of one, she will do her own research to help you find what you are looking for. Michelle has treated me through many adversities over the years, the two major ones being fertility and 3 ruptured discs in my back. There were days my back and sciatica were so bad I could barely walk, and after an hour with her I had so much relief. Many sessions later, along with physical therapy I no longer needed back surgery. I can also say without a doubt, she is the reason I have a healthy little boy. All odds were against me, and the only thing I did differently was to start seeing Michelle more frequently and follow her health plan. 8 months later I was pregnant and she was the only doctor out of many that believed it could happen. I have had many never ending battles with eczema since I was very young, but last year it was unmanageable after having taken antibiotics and gone through several stressful situations that contributed to my breaking out. I felt compelled to write a review for Michelle even though I haven't had my first session yet. This year, I've decided to be kinder to myself. Michelle Kuroda is absolutely the best fertility acupuncturist around. I am so lucky to have found her! I started seeing her when my husband and I started trying to have a baby. We had been told by a couple doctors that our chances were not great because of age and fsh levels (both high). We had just joined One Medical Group, and so I started seeing Michelle there once a week. She put me on a very strict fertility diet and told me she wanted to work on regulating my cycle with acupuncture. Within one month she had shortened my cycle and lengthened my luteal phase (which was our goal)--and I could see first had that it was working. She talked at length with me at every visit about what was going on with my body. After 3 months of seeing her I was pregnant! I am now 6 months along and doing great. I saw her weekly through the whole first trimester and she helped keep me sane during that scary time, and to keep the pregnancy going. I still see her monthly now and would recommend her to anyone trying to get pregnant. She is amazing, and I know she was a huge part in helping us conceive. If I could give Michelle 10 stars I would! She is absolutely amazing. I started seeing her last year for a variety of issues (anxiety, pain management, and hormonal balance). My husband and I were trying to get pregnant and within a month of seeing her I was pregnant with our first child. I continued to see her throughout my pregnancy (even after I moved to Oakland, because she is that good!). I truly believe she is one of the reasons I had such an easy pregnancy! I've been seeing Michelle for many years now. Long before I was ready to start trying to get pregnant I started seeing Michelle to help with insomnia. She has helped improve my sleep and addressed my adrenal fatigue. Along the journey of improving my sleep she started to help educate me in the process of preparing my body for pregnancy and regulating my cycle. She not only regulated my cycle she also shared additional information regarding taking care of my body pre-pregnancy, during pregnancy and post-pregnancy. Unfortunately, I had a stroke during my pregnancy but Michelle was right there to help me when I came out of the hospital and after two brain surgeries.
