After waiting six months for an appointment, I was abruptly informed--just one week before--that they no longer accept my insurance. This is the same insurance I deliberately chose solely to see this provider. When I asked when they stopped accepting it, I was told it had been four months. Four months--and yet no one thought to notify me. This level of disorganization and disregard for patients' time is absolutely unacceptable. I'm deeply disappointed, but frankly, if this is how poorly the practice is managed, I'm likely better off elsewhere. read more

Unfortunately this wasn't a great experience. I was told I'd be charged somewhere between $150-$350 for my appointment. My appointment did not result in any recommendations for labs, tests or a clear path forward. And I was charged just over $350. I had assumed I would only be charged the top end if something was done at the appointment. I have called that office to become a patient for Dr. Starke on 3 different occasions. The first time I was placed on hold and then hung up on. The second was told to call November for a February appointment and today on the third time I am advised that if I want an appointment as a new patient for March I must call the first of the month of December so I can be seen. This office is a joke. If a person calls a doctor office is because you are not well and to not be able to even make an appointment is unacceptable. The medical profession is a joke. Dr. Starke is wonderful! I have been going to her for years and have always received excellent care from her and courtesy from the office personnel. Dr. Starke is extremely busy, as are all excellent physicians. However, she listens patiently, addresses any concerns, and creates a warm and comfortable environment conducive to discussing whatever needs discussing. As a retired nurse practitioner, I am very picky regarding from whom I seek health care. Dr. Starke has my highest recommendation. She refused to let me talk to a doctor when I needed a prescription before a trip. She said I had to use the patient portal which I was not able to get access to. When I called back again Janet said she spoke with Dr. Starke and was told I had to wait till Dr. Yanes returned. I explained again that I needed a prescription before a trip and they refused to give me the medical attention I needed in a timely manner. As all women know, a gynecologist is like a waxer... when you find a good one that makes incredibly uncomfortable procedures bearable, you stick with them till the end. Unfortunately for me my gynecologist retired earlier this year so I have been meaning to select a new one. After reading some reviews, I decided to take my chance with The Center for Gynecology & Restorative Medicine. It's extremely important to me to see only women doctors. Afterall, I want someone examining me to have the same bits & experiences. The office is located in a large building on a quiet side street near the Shops at Merrick Park. As soon as I walked in, I received the warmest reception from the receptionist, Yvette! She could not have been more welcoming! Made me feel immediately at ease. My next interaction was with Nurse Iesha. She was also soooo sweet & friendly. As I sat in the exam room waiting for my new doctor, I couldn't help but be delighted with my choice already! How could it get any better than this, i thought. Once my doctor walked in, I saw how! Dr. Yanes looks like she could still be in high school but she was so professional & kind & explained everything she was doing and answered all my questions. The appointment had been booked for 2 months. Called the day before to confirm and to let them know I was completing the new patient form. Drove 1 hour to the appointment to be told the appointment had been canceled. The staff here is not only rude they are incompetent. I showed them the call and the email confirmation no one was professional enough to admit their error. In all my years visiting doctors from Lenox Hill in NYC to Mount Sinai and Cleveland Clinic never have I seen such a mess. Went to Dr. Starke's office because l wanted somewhere close to my house, but l will never go back there. The receptionist was rude over the phone when l called to make my appointment, so that should've been a clear sign but l made an appointment anyway. Had my annual pap done and it came back abnormal, so l had a biopsy done which came back negative but l had a quick question for the dr. Used the portal as they suggested, but never received a response. Then they tell me that l need to make an appointment to ask her to answer a question and pay $200. I'm definitely finding somewhere else. They obviously only care about money & not the patient. Daphne & the medical assistant were nice and that's one of the pros. I've been a patient if Dr. Starke for about 1 year and couldn't be happier. In one year I've been at her office about 4 times (annual pap, 2 ultrasounds, wellness consultation- hormones tx, cosmetic care by ARNP Daphne) and can say the practice runs in time, staff is friendly, Dr. Starke is a more knowledgeable on menopause that most doctors and takes her time explaining. I was referred to this doctor by my Gyno because she could not figure out what was wrong with me. I was asked to give my full medical history for the doctor to review. At my appointment the doctor flat out said I did t review any of your history. I was shocked...She seemed very uninterested. Ladies, we know what to do when its that time of month, but when its that time of year, we're not always as proactive. Let's face it: its no-ones idea of a good time to dig our feet into the stirrups and have a stranger get up close and familiar with our lady bits. In fact, if you're like me, you kind of dread it. Which is why it is so hard to find a good gyno and so important to share the wealth when you do. Yesterday was my third visit to Dr. Starke's office. I can say with informed confidence that they are simply the best gyno I have ever been to. And its not just procedurally. They have a "je nais se quoi" of making you feel at ease. Which, back to feet up, bits exposed, is no small feat and not to be underestimated. In fact, its like finding a unicorn. To begin, the office is warmly and femininely decorated. The pinstripe sofas, the orchids, the pink signs, pink pens, and pink accents make the office feel less clinical and more warm and actually give you a sense that you are among the girls (girl power surge!) Even the patient robes were not those cheap paper ones but a nice thick cloth material in, you guessed it, girl-power-pink. The place is clean, the restrooms have nice soap and lotion, lots of details are taken attention to. The staff is so great and personal. The receptionist commented on my nice eyelashes, the other receptionist stayed on my cell with my insurance company after their system crashed so I could hurry up and be seen, the nurse was friendly and chatty while taking my stats, and my gyno was sugar-sweet, friendly, very professional, and made me feel at ease as usual. The pap was very gentle (yay!) And tools werent cold! The breast exam was informative and assuring. Each time I've been here has been like this. Administration is a little less great but not bad, and definately not outweighing the good. Last year, the admin staff drove me a little crazy, calling me to tell me my payment wasnt going through but as soon as they tried with me on the line it suddenly did (this happened with 2 of my payments) and occasionally, whoever answers the phone can seem a bit brisk and hurried. However, having been to several lady-doctors over the years, I truly value the treasure I have found in the staff and I certainly can deal with a few snaffus with admin when the medical care is so great! I went to a few gynos in Miami when I first moved here, trying to find an office that was clean, professional, didn't make me wait over an hour for an already scheduled appointment (my previous issues with Miami gynos) but now I just go to Dr. Starke. I never have to wait long, her office is beautiful, they usually have flavored water which is a nice touch as you wait, the staff is very kind, and I like both the PA's and Dr. Starke. My only issue is that I have to take off work for appointments because of their office hours. I like how she combines traditional medicine with a holistic approach. Dr Starke is the best! She is an excellent dr. I have had many health issues including breast cancer and she has always been excellent. After I started going to her and am taking vitamins and following all of her recommendations I feel like a different person. I have energy have lost weight and feel great. The staff is excellent. The girls in the front, Stephanie and pieri are super nice. They always go out of their way to help patients and treat everyone professionally. Linda is very nice too and helped me with all of my vitamins. Daphne the nurse is very sweet and is great at her job. I think the old negative comments on this website are because there was a different staff before, but things are great now I strongly recommend dr Starke, her staff, and her office. read more

I tried another Dr. once because a friend recommended them but I missed this office and had to come right back. I called today to get a last minute appointment and they were able to accommodate me. After seeing so many wonderful things said about Dr. Starke, I was looking forward to making my first appointment with her as a new patient (as I've relocated from Orlando to Miami). However, my experience with the incredibly rude and impersonal receptionist answering the phone made me promptly change my mind. She wouldn't even allow me to spell my entire last name much less ask any full questions or get my thoughts across. I wanted to get an annual exam and meet the doctor for other concerns, and this "receptionist" snipped "You can see the nurse practitioner". I have never heard of seeing a nurse practitioner for a PAP or any other purpose during a gynecological visit and was not so comfortable with that prospect alone. I asked this "receptionist" to please explain, because clearly she was too short, irritated, and busy with other things to address my clearly bewildered disposition. Trying to get any information was like talking to the concrete floor, I got no where with her but flustered, and ended up saying, "you know, never mind". With office staff like that, I cannot imagine going any further....Dr. Starke may be the best gynecologist in Miami but whoever answers calls sure makes her practice not very desirable and very unprofessional. read more

A friend recommended Dr Starkie, which is a good doctor, the problem is the staff and serves. Even if you will ask them to give you an estimate for your deductible they will keep sending you bills after you pay it. And when you are calling the billing department a rude lady named Linda will tell you she can't do anything about it after you will finally get her on the phone after trying calling for days (took me 2 weeks last time, left voice msg with my number every time). It happened to me twice. 2nd, the booties in the chairs are Dirty. And if you ask to change them you will get a face and get it changed within about 15 mins. Never going back read more

I am very pleased with Dr. Starke's office. Aside from the receptionist not being very welcoming, the rest of the staff is great. The phlebotomists are knowledgeable, professional and friendly, Dr. Starke is a wealth of knowledge in the area of perimenopause and everything wellness. She never seems in a hurry. I've always seen at the scheduled time (3 appointments in 2 months). I am very pleased to have made the change to this office. For me, changing GYN's is hard. I feel we create a bond with our doctor and starting again with a new one is certainly difficult but I am glad I made the change. read more

I haven't been to Dr. Starke's office in years. I am actually now again on the hunt for a new gyno and ran into this profile. It is sad to say but most of the reviews on this page are true. I went to Dr. Starke's office about 4 to 5 times. Going to a gyno is already an uncomfortable event so I kept going because I didn't want to have to go through the whole "new patient" process. In my visits, I never, not once, met Dr. Starke -- I do remember she was in the office most times I visited but I guess I just wasn't important enough to meet. The PA that attended me was emotionless - one thing I do remember was her being a bit judgmental that I did not want to get on birth control and I felt pushed to start it. I had to keep my stance and kept saying "No, I am not interested, thank you, maybe next time." It just wasn't warm or a place you look forward to going to. I hope they do better and learn from these reviews because they have potential. read more

I went into this office two times for an annual wellness/ObGyn checkup. Both times I thought I was scheduled to see Dr. Starke herself and both times I was actually seen by a nurse. Two years there and I have yet to meet Dr. Starke. The office is cold, unfriendly and you feel like another number. I am out of town now, and it has been 11 months since my last checkup. I'm scheduled to go back in August. I got a UTI so I called the office to prescribe me a simple antibiotic I have taken in the past for a UTI, and they told me it's been too long since they've seen me (how often is one supposed to go into an obgyn?) and that I'd need to go into an urgent care or ER. Really?! During a pandemic you want me to go into a hospital for a UTI because you won't call in a prescription for me to Walgreens?! I think that is negligent and not looking after their patient's overall health if they're willing to risk me getting covid over a UTI. No thank you! The nurse was so rude over the phone and just told me it's out of their hands. Needless to say, I was able to call my GP who immediately called in the antibiotic for me. I will no longer be a patient of Dr. Starke (as if I ever was!) and don't recommend them to anyone! read more

I have been going to Dr. Starke for many many many years. I love her and have dealt with many of her PAs, who I have loved as well. The gals that do all the pre-exam data are absolutely fabulous as well and the nurse that draws blood is pretty amazing! Truly, I was so saddened to have dealt with the rude, unpleasant receptionist that is currently there. So much so that I actually downloaded this app to write this review. I wish I would have spoken directly to her, but based on her demeanor (and other patients present), I walked away. I still highly recommend Dr Starke and her office, however I believe this new face needs to re-examine her customer service! I came to this office because a friend referred me due to our insurance being through work. She was in awe of how friendly the place was, so I asked for the info and made my appointment. When I first called I was a little taken back by the attitude I received upon hearing the other person answer the phone. I brushed it off and spoke with the person in regards to being a new patient , and setting up an appointment and what not. So my appointment comes along and I arrive a little early to turn in my new patient paper work, and the attitude I brushed off from the very first call was full on there in person at the front desk. Already I was like great.. gynocologist appointments are already awkward, this is a new doctor so a little extra awkward and to TOP it off I have to deal with a b*tchy attitude upon arrival. So the rest of the appointment went fine, the lady who same me was very cheery and welcoming (although I don't remember her name) I got tested to see if I was pregnant to begin birth control and the lady who saw me told me to get the prescription and just walk in the next day to have the birth control shot given to me. So I did just that, when I arrive the next day as a walk in with my prescription (no appointment) the receptionist rolled her eyes at me at least five times , as if it was my fault that their staff was not on the same page. ASIDE from all that, I had asked about a program they offer they scheduled me for the 10 appointments. I cancelled two times, always with enough time.. so if they can use my spot for the next appointment so be it. The third time I cancelled this rude receptionist tells me I have to pay $50 cancellation just because I was calling to cancel. Mind you I called at 9:30 AM, 24 hours prior to my appointment for 10 AM the next day. So I told her you know what go ahead and cancel all my appointments so we don't have this issue anymore and I will call and make my appointments as I need them. This rude ASS receptionist said, all appointment deleted and HUNG UP . I would not refer this place to ANYONE ! All they care about is the money, their staff is constantly bickering among themselves and they are NEVER on the same page. read more

Dr. Starke's office is not fat friendly, to say the least. I was referred by a co-worker. My first appointment was with a nurse for an annual checkup. At the end of my first appointment, after being told how overweight I was, and lectured on my overall health just by my appearance, I was given a prescription for lab and blood work. I was shocked as I am a lifter and eat relatively healthy having already lost a lot of weight by the time of my appointment, but she would know this had she looked at my medical history. After my second appointment, I walked out of Dr. Starke's office with prescriptions for pre-diabetes medication and a plethora of meds that had NO relation to my womanly health. Even my GP scratched his head and asked why a nurse from a gyno's practice would prescribe me pre-diabetic medication without ANY of my medical history or any further testing and without any merit whatsoever other than "FAT." Needless to say, I am not pre-diabetic or any of the sort and taking such a powerful medication would have had dire consequences on my health. I walked out of there with SIX prescriptions for absolutely NOTHING. Let's not even go into the details about the $50 cancellation fee if you miss your appointment. NO exceptions. Its been two years and the trauma and embarrassment of my weight being shoved in my face in such a manner during a doctor's appointment without any merit or cause left some scars. read more

If you want to sit in the waiting room for an hour and be treated indifferently than go here. I've been here twice for pap smears and have always had a nurse practitioner do it. This time around I had to go in for a procedure and was quite nervous because I never met Dr. Starke. Long story short, she had no personality. Very cold and didn't even say anything to make me comfortable. She comes in and says ok let's get this over with....No greeting such as it's nice to meet you, let me explain what's going to happen now. Upon check in I was told it would cost $600. for my visit. I said no one told me this yesterday...the receptionist replied, oh someone should have. I should have left after hearing this. But here's the kicker, as I was checking out I asked for a detailed receipt for this horrible visit and I was given a different amount, about $200. So I asked why was I charged $600 checking in and it states a different amount on this bill? The receptionist stated oh it's because we have two different systems. I told her that makes no sense and would like an explanation. She was flustered and told me you'll see it on the explanation of your benefits! How unprofessional and untrustworthy. Finally a great doctor. I am so glad to have found Dr. Starke. First, her staff knows how to prioritize appointments and as Dr. Starke does not handle obstetrics I didn't have to fight off a bunch of baby makers for a time slot. I have never had to wait longer than 15 minutes in the lobby and was seen quickly by Dr Starke once in the exam room. She is thorough and takes the time to discuss any problems you are having and offer solutions. And she has great taste in shoes. When waiting on results from tests, her nursing staff ACTUALLY call you to tell you the results ... and its within a week as opposed to my old gyn who I used to have to call every day for a week straight to get the results. read more

Dr. Starke spent a lot of time with me, discussing many facets of health and wellness. Not for one moment did I feel rushed, or that she needed to get to the next patient. The waiting time, was approximately 3 hours, basically whole morning, staft where not helpful at all, I was attended by the head nurse and not by Dr. Starke, I guess she was too busy to attend a new patient. I moved down to Miami and needed a good gyn. I am used to seeing an excellent GYN doctor who was very attentive gyn, performed bedside transvaginal ultrasound during every pap smear and also took their time during the visit to answer any questions. When I made my annual pap appointment a year ago, the receptionist told me that since I was under the age of 35, Dr. Starke could not see me and only the NP could see me. I thought that is was the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Since when is there a cut off age of when I could see the actual gyn?! Regardless, I went to the appointment and the NP was nice, but I would have rather seen the Dr. Starke then the NP. The NP was very fast; however, very not very approachable. Recently, I went back again for my annual and once again, I was seen by an NP, except this time it was a new NP who did not see me last time. Overall, Dr. Starke's practice is nice, clean but I am not happy seeing the NP.
