Ladies, we know what to do when its that time of month, but when its that time of year, we're not always as proactive. Let's face it: its no-ones idea of a good time to dig our feet into the stirrups and have a stranger get up close and familiar with our lady bits. In fact, if you're like me, you kind of dread it. Which is why it is so hard to find a good gyno and so important to share the wealth when you do. Yesterday was my third visit to Dr. Starke's office. I can say with informed confidence that they are simply the best gyno I have ever been to. And its not just procedurally. They have a "je nais se quoi" of making you feel at ease. Which, back to feet up, bits exposed, is no small feat and not to be underestimated. In fact, its like finding a unicorn. To begin, the office is warmly and femininely decorated. The pinstripe sofas, the orchids, the pink signs, pink pens, and pink accents make the office feel less clinical and more warm and actually give you a sense that you are among the girls (girl power surge!) Even the patient robes were not those cheap paper ones but a nice thick cloth material in, you guessed it, girl-power-pink. The place is clean, the restrooms have nice soap and lotion, lots of details are taken attention to. The staff is so great and personal. The receptionist commented on my nice eyelashes, the other receptionist stayed on my cell with my insurance company after their system crashed so I could hurry up and be seen, the nurse was friendly and chatty while taking my stats, and my gyno was sugar-sweet, friendly, very professional, and made me feel at ease as usual. The pap was very gentle (yay!) And tools werent cold! The breast exam was informative and assuring. Each time I've been here has been like this. Administration is a little less great but not bad, and definately not outweighing the good. Last year, the admin staff drove me a little crazy, calling me to tell me my payment wasnt going through but as soon as they tried with me on the line it suddenly did (this happened with 2 of my payments) and occasionally, whoever answers the phone can seem a bit brisk and hurried. However, having been to several lady-doctors over the years, I truly value the treasure I have found in the staff and I certainly can deal with a few snaffus with admin when the medical care is so great! Note: It seems they have moved in the last year or so, because their address is actually 135 San Lorenzo Ave, #550. Its right in the back of Merrick Park.

I love the soothing colors in here but I'm a designer so of course I love that!

I never have to wait long, her office is beautiful, they usually have flavored water which is a nice touch as you wait, the staff is very kind, and I like both the PA's and Dr.

If you are…read moreconsidering this practice because you have heard great things about Dr Fink, know that more likely that not, you will never see him. My review on his practice: STILLBIRTH DELIVERY on 1.1.15 Longest and most heartfelt review I will write on yelp: From day 1, I never waned to see Dr Tumero, as a close friend of mine had a still birth in 2nd tri under her care. Said friend reviewed her file with head doctor (Fink), both came to the conclusion that closer monitoring and treatment could had made a difference. Fast forward and guess who I get stuck with? Yes, Dr. Tumero Details:I had a regular doctors visit on 12/31/14, during my ultrasound, tech noticed that heartbeat was slow, she quickly called Dr Simmel in and I was asked to head over to baptist for further monitoring. Upon arriving to baptist (5 minutes later, as building is right next door), my daughters heartbeat was detected by monitor used by nurse. Five minutes later, Dr Tumero (who was on duty at hospital) shows up and requests bed side u/s. U/s tech arrived within a couple of minutes and by then, my daughter was gone. Between time of my arrival, check in, blah blah blah, about 10 minutes passed. Though you maybe thinking, 10 minutes is not that long, it is when your child's life is at risk. Knowing what I know now (further testing detected that I have an autoimmune disease which often correlates with still births if left untreated) I understand that OTHER factors COULD have caused my daughters passing, however, we did not know (still don't) what "the cause" was when it was all going down,so my thoughts are: If Dr. Simmel called baptist to let them know that I was heading there with baby with slow heartbeat, why the delay in dr Tumero showing up? My daughter passed away at this hospital, all while we were present. Why was an emergency c- section not done if one minute there was heartbeat and not the next? so many questions. I know that nothing will ever bring her back, but I question the response time and how the situation was handled. ------- As if what I described above is not reason enough as to why to avoid this practice, here are additional mishaps that took place during pregnancy. I had a VERY healthy pregnancy, so my visits were short and to the point. However, there were many mishaps along the way, one of them being that a test which is done during 2nd trimester detecting abnormalities was overlooked. They apologized for that, and during that time I didn't think it was a big deal, but after having lost my child, I wish that every single test had been done. Aside from that, there was a lot of back and forth with medication prescribed (Diclegis for nausea and vomiting) the office sent prescription to my pharmacy for wrong amount (less pills) so I was having to go back for refills every couple of weeks, spending more money per bottler, wasting time and gas. It wasn't until the pharmacist asked me why I hadn't just ordered 100 pills to begin with vs 30 at a time, that we were able to correct the issue by calling obgyn and having them send correct prescription. U/s tech with long hair- this lady is one of the most unpleasant people I have ever met in the industry. I do not recall her name, but I saw her twice early in pregnancy and requested not to see her again. I tried both times to initiate small talk (commenting on her daughter's ballet pictures/ asking about her day) and got nothing. She always had a crappy face on, and was non responsive. Having an u/s done is both exciting and stressful, she did zero to make the experience more pleasant. Please stay away from this place if you are expecting, it is my only suggestion. During a doctor's career, there is no doubt that lives will be lost for x or y reason. I just REALLY feel that my daughter's life could have been spared, if things had been addressed promptly.

I was 45 minutes late to my appointment because there was NO PARKING AT ALL. I literally had to sit in the middle of the parking lot just waiting for someone else to leave. After driving 1.5 hours from the Florida Keys. The staff was ok. Nothing special. They kept opening the door widely while I was naked on the table, just covered by a piece of paper... this made me uncomfortable. The doctor was not personable or friendly. Even though I was late to my appointment, I still had to wait another 40 minutes because they were that backed up. And I swore I would never use this office again if I need a special procedure. Now they are leaving all their Keys Women in a lurch as they are SUDDENLY closing the Tavernier office, with ZERO NOTICE. (I'm here now and no one has mentioned that they'll be shut down on Friday permanently.) I highly recommend avoiding this disaster.

After meeting Dr. Perez, I felt confident that this would be a good choice for me! Since it's a practice of three doctors (Lievano, Perez, and Collado), you meet with them all throughout your pregnancy, but can schedule appointments with just one for regular care like annual exams. I liked that they're super close to Baptist Hospital which ended up being a great hospital for my delivery. Speaking of, the thing about a practice is that you never know which doctor will be on call so it's best not to have your heart set on having a certain doctor there when you go into labor. On the weekends, they rotate with another practice entirely which I didn't learn until later, and it was a bit scary to know I may have a doctor I've never even met. Dr. Collado ended up being there when the time came and I'm SO happy and thankful! She was awesome the entire time, saved me from having an emergency C-Section, cooperated with my doula, and stayed at the hospital the entire night while we waited for my baby to arrive (and was there early the next morning!). I loved having her so much, I was set on keeping her as my main doctor moving forward. Unfortunately I moved, but would definitely encourage others to make an appointment with her if you're looking for a new gyno. Given how often I had to go there during my pregnancy, I'd say that wait times weren't bad on average, but there were a couple of times that were long, usually when a doctor was unexpectedly out. The nurses were always super kind though and great at taking blood. The ultrasound tech was also nice, and the back office was usually pretty good about helping me with billing issues, insurance, etc. Overall, I'm pleased with my experience. Pregnancy and birth can be super vulnerable and a bit nerve wracking, but I'd trust this team to do it again if I was in Miami.

This is a review about the extortionary practices of Dr. Ferro and her office…read more During my routine visit, Dr. Ferro forced me to schedule a follow up for something which I assured her was normal - had been recently checked in NY and is fine. She refused to listen to me. Abhorrent behavior. I scheduled the follow up, basically with no choice, and came for the visit in December of 2024. The tech saw me first, and then I was seen by Dr. Ferro. She got the reason incorrect for my visit not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES. She showed a complete lack of interest, lack of knowledge, lack of understanding. My reason for sitting in that office was primarily her doing, additionally communicated to the tech, and should have been in my patient file. After explaining to her again (and again) why I was there, she ended the visit by APOLOGIZING for wasting my time. "I'm so sorry for having brought you in here and wasted your time" - I should have recorded her. If the only thing wasted was time, a negative review would already be necessary. However, I paid $50 for this visit at the office. In January, I received a bill for $119 for this visit. Now, in April, I have just received a further bill of $25. The front desk staff is either unempowered or unable to answer for billing questions, both of which are unacceptable. They say these are all for the same visit, just now being processed for insurance. In December I already had found a new provider as I would never return to someone who doesn't listen to her patients and who arrives unprepared for the visit she requested. However, it is clear now that her office is simply trying to extort their patients for their money and their insurer's money. This office should be shut down - I wouldn't wish this experience on any person.
