Of course I had to try it and it was wonderful. I did a 90 minute massage with about 1 hour Swedish and 30 minutes barefoot. The barefoot massage felt like a deep tissue massage but better, no not better but deeper and the coverage was more all at once. It's the only way I can describe it. When Erin hit my shoulders it was like the sweet spot, I made sure to let her know too, got some extra footsie up there I believe. I can't describe how good the barefoot massage was! It's not a massage I would have regularly but it will be a specialty I'll do ever so often. Love going to Massage Theory and having Erin as my massage therapist!

After speaking with Billie Jo I was more than confident that I wanted her to handle this for me. Considering a blade is involved you better trust the person that is working on your skin. When I arrived at the salon Billie Jo was very welcoming and walked me back to the room to fill out a few forms. After the paperwork, I got under the comfy blanket and Billie Jo started working her magic. I was thinking that I am a good exfoliator so the whole part about getting alot of dead skin off of my face would not happen but I was wrong. Billie Jo removed quite a bit of dead skin and all of the peach fuzz. There was an addition enzyme treatment which was also very nice and smelled wonderful. After the procedure was finished she said just stay laying for a minute and take your time getting up....I'm thinking....getting up, who wants to get up. This place is absolutely awesome and Billie Jo is such a sweetheart. If you make an appointment with her you will love her.

They also have 20 manicure tables. The price was common enough. We paid $35 for the Classic Pedicure(without gel). Gel is an extra $15. I had a gentleman that clearly has been doing this for a while. We didnt chat. He just got right to it. Remove polish, cut down nails and sand nails (pretty sure that isn't what they call it, but you get the idea). He didnt use a dremel as may feet didnt warrant it. He scrubs the toes including the tops of your feet(rather aggressively), but effective. Then it is time for the calf sugar scrub, moisturizer and massage. Strong hands are good, but no finesse. This is very off-putting if you have sensitive feet. He is professional and polite. The hot towel is my favorite and it didn't disappoint. Temperature that the hot shower gods would approve. He shaped my toes as I requested and was meticulous with his paint process. There aren't any fans to put your feet under to dry. I just sat in the chair with the toe spreader on with my sandals. I was unsure how long it would take to dry. They have two big screen televisions and music playing in the background (not too loud). There is a cooler in front with pop and water. I don't know if it is for customers though or if you can purchase a drink. I can ask next time. They have earned my service and I will be back. Job well done!

My first concern was for the constant turn over in stylists & staff. My second major disappointment came after I had an appointment that was scheduled almost 2wks in advance, only to be called 20 minutes prior to my appointment asking me to reschedule my appointment in order to accommodate her last minute walk ins. Ms. Deena stated that she didn't want to let her walk in's down who had not planned in advance for a holiday weekend (yet, I did plan in advance and even mentioned while setting the original appointment that it was the Saturday before a holiday & would work perfectly). I wasn't even given the option to not give up my scheduled appointment. I was made to feel as if I had no choice. She did suggest another day that was very inconvenient for me, insisting that I come in on that day AND bring a 3 yr old along to "hang out" for a minimum 2 hr process. It's not the most child friendly space, with lots of things she would have likely gotten into. I was deeply disappointed & hurt. I would not have enjoyed my time, nor would the child (and probably not anyone else who would have been there as it was during the child's lunch hour & nap time). After thinking heavily about the situation- and considering other factors - I decided to cancel that appointment the very same day that I was asked to reschedule (not the day I was rescheduled for). 3 Days later I received a text from Deena with excuses that had not previously been mentioned during texts in which we agreed on which process to apply - a full foil highlight w/ my last foil highlight being @6mos ago. I was satisfied with the cuts & colors I had previously received, but I was not satisfied that my time & needs were less important. It was an important holiday for me & my family as well. My husband summed it up perfectly by explaining to me that our business must not have been that important to her if she was so easy to cancel me without regard to my time & needs even though she was made aware that I was not comfortable giving up my appointment, bringing a toddler into the salon for such a long appointment, nor having to rearrange my entire schedule (which then effected two other uninvolved people as well). The team at Deena's Salon are simply awesome. I felt very comfortable talking w/ them about what I was looking for in a long term cosmetologist & what I was thinking of doing to my almost virgin long hair. Deena was the first to respond and the most informative with her messages, too. Ultimately, this is the salon I went with. Easy drive over, plenty of parking, and a really charming atmosphere -- sweet dog on the premises, there are brings fresh-baked cookies, wine, coffee, etc. -- loved it! Once seated, I was a bit surprised that we didn't get started right away. There were some other folks coming in and out, and the stylist was extremely polite in attending to them, but I couldn't help but notice the clock ticking. And then I remembered to chill out because "hey, no rush, I'm on vacation anyway!" We New Englanders can get a little uptight about efficiency sometimes, so a dose of southern relaxation was extremely beneficial. However, if there was one thing to improve, it might be this. Really appreciated the candid recommendations. I originally thought I'd do an all-over color plus highlights, but Deena convinced me my base color is totally awesome already. I also pulled one of those "oh just do whatever you think will look good" comments, but Deena gently pressed for specifics to ensure I would be pleased with the end result. (Good thinking.) Great conversationalist, really cool local insights, and Katie the manicurist was charming, too. Couple of weeks later, and my highlights are healthy, shiny, and a wonderful reminder of my visit to Deena's. Thank you!
