My husband I attended a dinner for his work on Saturday, March 21st. at Michiels. I have to say I was very impressed. First off I am in the restaurant business and am usually very critical about food and service when we go out. From the moment we walked into Michiels they surpassed my expectations! The dining room was set beautifully and the view was nice. Restrooms and lobby decorated nicely and very clean! The bartender, Todd, was very attentive and drinks were served quickly. The Hors de Oeuvres that we had were baby Bella stuffed mushroom caps, ramikis, sauteed shrimp and scallops being cooked fresh at the table by a chef, what a great touch! Then to top it off long stem chocolate covered strawberries! All were fantastic. We were called for dinner, and the evening just got better. My husband had a New York strip, cooked beautifully and covered in fresh sauteed mushrooms. I had the chicken Oscar, a generous portion of rice pilaf with a tender chicken breast topped with crab, asparagus and sauce. Then it was time for dessert! Apple pie Ala mode drizzled with caramel and cheese cake with a fresh berry compote. The service could not have been better. All staff working together, you never had to ask for anything because they saw to anything you could possibly want with your meal. With the economy the way it is and the vast amount of restaurants to go to, I would highly suggest choosing Michiels for any event you are planning. After attending a wedding at this facility we decided to book our event here. What a beautiful place. Alot of glass windows overlooking the Fox River. Not your typical banquet hall setting. Two floors and each floor has it's own guest facilities such as bar and bathrooms. We were there and another weddding was upstairs and we never knew they were there. From our first meeting with Debra ( the wedding planner) we felt very comfortable. She was so helpful and full of information that helped us make so many critical decisions that we may have never thought about. The decoration package that they offer takes so much stress out of the day. For $300 dollars they completly decorated the facility with lights, candles, netting and our flower arrangements. We were also able to drop off all personal items, place cards and party favors and Debra's staff handled making sure all was set for the day. We did nothing the day of our wedding but show up. How wonderful. No stress. Right on the agreed upon dinner time of 6:30pm the staff went through the bar and announced that dinner was being served. All the guests were seated to pre set salads. Shortly there after the main course of Pecan Grouper or Parmesan Tenderloin was served hot and fast. The food here is high quality. The whole night's event went very smooth. Debra was so helpful and her staff delivered all she promised. They know how to have a wedding. Great experience. read more

I had my wedding here early this year. The building is beautiful. I decided to have my wedding here because we got a whole floor to ourselves--our own bar area, cake area, restrooms, dinning area, and dance area. However, the owner lady was unforgivably rude. She scoffed at me numerous times and almost made me cry the week before my wedding day. She didn't like my center arrangements, which were simple and nature based. They boast that they set up everything if you pay for the package. I asked her if they could put tulle bows on the back of chairs. She made it very difficult and when I went to show her what I meant--apologizing for not being an excellent bow maker--she actually laughed at me and walked away. My bridesmaids and I had to go in early and rush to do all the bows ourselves before guests arrived. The owner never even offered my husband and I a test tasting for the dinner. She was even slightly rude to one of my guests who was trying to take my picture--because the owner wanted to put the snack food out. Also, my husband and I wanted to do a quick 20 minute ceremony at the wedding to exchange vows in front of our guests during our allotted time in the space. She would not allow this without charging a few hundred more. It was ridiculous. Looking back, I feel she really ruined the whole experience for me and I want people to know that the beautiful facility does not make up for her rudeness. read more

We had our wedding reception at Fox Banquets this May. Everything was top notch. The food was excellent. Many of my guests said it was the best food they ever had at a wedding. The portions are very large and everyone's food was hot and delicious. The prices were very good. The service was even better, if it could get any better...The waitstaff was so fast and refilled drinks and bread, and ran to get anything that my guests needed. There is a great view from the upstairs dining hall were our reception was held. The ladies' room has a huge changing area in it, perfect for freshening up. This may seem trivial to some, but it sure came in handy in a big wedding dress. There is a larger dining room downstairs and there was another wedding going on, but we didn't hear anything or hardly see anyone from the other party which is also nice. Only the entrance/exit door was shared. The bartenders were great, and there was staff available after midnight when our reception was winding down that helped us clean up! All in all, there was absolutely nothing lacking. I couldn't have asked for a nicer place for our wedding reception! I would have paid twice as much for a reception this nice, and I honestly mean that. You will not be sorry if you choose to have your reception here. read more

My review is on Debra, the owner...I cannot tell you how amazing she is!!! She went ABOVE and BEYOND my expectations! Our son was married in Appleton, WI on Sept 2, 2011 during a huge windstorm where ALL power was lost in most of the city~Including Fox Banquets (where the reception was supposed to be held) WIth 4 hours to go til cocktail hour and no power, Debra found us a new Venue (Riverview Country Club) hauled EVERYTHING over there, including cake, food, linens, name cards. Set everything up, beautiful. It went so smooth, you would never have known there was a venue change, Debra had her employees there and introduced me and told them, whatever I need. Food was great and guests complimented the dinner and the staff and how beautiful everything was. Her customer service was unbeatable. We got married last Saturday and had our wedding reception at Fox Banquets. It was perfect! Not one thing went wrong, nor did we have or receive one complaint about anything. We had numerous compliments on the food and we agree, the food was amazingly wonderful! If there was ever a wedding/banquet professional, Debra Michiels is that person! From the first time we met with her, it quickly became apparent that she has more than her fair share of experience in this industry. She has seen many things and she knows what works and what doesn't. She made suggestions, yet listened to what we wanted. In the end, it was a comfort to know that she has a personal stake in the success of our event and she (along with all of the staff) went above and beyond to make sure that every one of our guests was taken care of. We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at Michiel's Fox Banquets Rivertyme Catering. It was a pleasure to do business with Debra; she was very helpful and knowledgeable making our evening event a success! I was inclined to have the party in Milwaukee where most of our guests were from...but, then I thought of previous occasions that I had eaten at Michiel's and how good it was...Michiel's became my top choice! We had delicious appetizers before the dinner.The guests all commented on the quality of food served (and how large the Angus New York Strip Steak was). My husband and I chose Michaels to cater our recent wedding at the Outer Edge Stage in Appleton. Throughout the entire planning process, we were very pleased with the customer service. Deb was prompt in getting back to us and offered great ideas about how to make sure all our guests were satisfied. The food at the reception was fantastic, and many guests came up to us and mentioned how much they liked the food. We had appetizers and plated dinners of the parmesan encrusted tenderloin and the chicken florentine, all of which were delicious. The waitstaff was also prompt and friendly. On December 30, 2009 we had our son's rehearsal dinner here. WOW. It couldn't have been better! From Debra's planning help on menu choices to the beautiful lights of Appleton out the windows during the meal, it was perfect. We had our own room with a bar, a very friendly and efficient bartender and awesome waitresses! The food was FANTASTIC and the dessert portions were big enough for 3 people! I have never in my life treated as poorly as I was tonight by the owner of Fox Banquets. I stopped by after work (I work two blocks away) to check on the choices my son and his soon to be bride made for their rehearsal dinner. I first had to search for an office, a one was not obvious, and when I found it I was greeted by the owner in a condescending tone. Her first words were "did you have an appointment." From set up to take down thier staff was professional, efficient and courtious. Debra and Ken were easy to work with and extremely helpful.
