Shortly after the kids arrived, the manager approached me and said the hotel doesn't allow birthday parties. I explained that I work as an Uber and Lyft driver and regularly transport high school and college students to and from events at this hotel, but he said he didn't believe me. While I can't prove anything definitively, it seemed the issue arose when he saw a large group of Black guests arriving. The parents were simply dropping off their children, some of whom were later picked up, and yet the staff's demeanor shifted noticeably. At one point, their tone also changed when they noticed my "Veterans Against Trump" bumper sticker. While they made some accommodations, it felt more like fear than a genuine desire to help. As a combat veteran and small business owner, I expect respectful and fair treatment wherever I go. Unfortunately, this experience did not meet that standard. We will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this hotel. Service should not depend on race or political views, and the treatment we received was disappointing and unprofessional.

My 1000th Review.... And it for something special!…read more My son's wedding was held at The Gibson Social Club last weekend and everything went well! This venue is pretty cool. Back when I went to college in Oshkosh it was a car dealership. Now it's a wedding venue with a lot of old fashioned style. Great for wedding pictures! The planners and employees of the venue were very professional and helpful. Had no problems at all. If you are going to have your wedding or party here, here are some things to be prepared for. Parking. There is a paid parking lot attached to the venue. However parking is free for guests. The problem is that most don't know until after they paid! (There are parking passes located inside the door of the venue). Make sure to tell your guest if you can! Farmers Market. On Saturdays in summer there is a farmers market until 12:30pm, but in our case Main St did not re-open until about 1:30. So some out of town guest had a rough time finding the place. (Wedding was at 2pm). Noise. The venue is basically an open hall so it is a little noisy during the "happy hour" and other open conversation times, but the sound systems worked very well and everybody could hear well during speeches. Hotels. Closest hotel is about six blocks away. But fills up because it's attached to a convention center... so book early! Process. If you plan on getting married at this location be aware that you will have to leave for a while so they can get the venue reset for the meal and party. We all went to a fun bar across the street and then came back and couple of hours later. Fun day for my family and friends. Very happy with the venue.

When ordering the China Buffet #1 be aware that the water is served in a 5 gallon Igloo cooler. Yes, the type that you use during tailgates and football games. I informed them that this was a wedding and I didn't want a big plastic cooler. We ended up negotiating with them and for an extra amount per table the water would be placed on the table. We also ordered coffee and were told they could leave it at the venue until Monday (our wedding was on Sunday) so our guests could enjoy it through the evening. This did not happen. We served dinner around 6pm and by 7-7:30pm all of the leftover food, water, silverware and coffee were gone. The La Sure's staff and our food/drinks we paid for were nowhere to be found. We had a great deal of leftovers and even brought packaging to send some home with our guests and ourselves. We were unable to do this as it was taken away before we even had a chance. Everyone knows the bride and groom are so busy they don't really eat the night of, so I was so looking forward to nice food later that evening or even the next day! Our guests were asking for coffee & water the rest of the night (after 7:30pm) and I had nothing to tell them other then La Sure's left for the night and took everything with them. Incredibly disappointing as we were promised something completely different. Upon calling the owner the next day and asking for a partial refund for all of the food that was thrown away without our permission, he said no. He stated that is common practice to throw away the food after dinner is served and to not ask permission to do so. It was only an hour and a half after dinner was served! We had guests arrive late and had nothing to serve them. Even the utensils were gone for the dessert! As previously stated, we loved the food and the servers were great. However, we were greatly disappointed in the action taken by the owner and his "this is how it is" response when we were told something completely different by his staff and our venue who often interacts with them. When you spend thousands of dollars with a company you want to be able to trust them on their word and their service. Given all of this information I would be extremely careful when hiring them to do your next large event and be sure you stay on top of them the day of the event.
