It's awesome! Dr. Akler says my vision will further improve which is crazy for me to think about. Dr. Akler, Barbara, and their whole staff are very thorough with their consultation. They did tests the "commercial LASIK" places didn't do when I went there for a consult. The surgery was the weirdest thing you can do, but I would do it again hands down x 1000000. The surgery itself was pain-free. Dr. Akler talks you through the whole surgery while she's doing it. I did have some pain for the first 2 hours when I got home, but it went away and hasn't been back. I've had no complications and I attribute that to a great consultation (ensuring I'm a good candidate), following the pre-op instructions, and the skills and knowledge of Dr. Akler. It's mind-blowing to be able to see this well without my contacts. If you're looking to get rid of glasses and contacts, look no further than Akler Eye Care. They made an appointment to get an eye exam and fitted for glasses. I was out of town. My father got examined and fitted for glasses and my mother apparently needed emergency eye surgery because the arteries in her eyes weren't opening and closing properly which is why she had so much pressure in her eyes, as the doctor stated. They then took her across the hall to hakim eye center, whom Dr. Hakim was the one who did the procedure. Now, when my parents told me he operated on her eye first time ever in the office and meeting her I knew something wasn't right. The staff was so incompetent they didn't even numb her before the doctor began to touch her and he was wondering why she was squeamish to realize she wasn't even properly suited to receive this operation... - Update * she is still in pain in her right eye, says she feels she has cotton stuck in her eye! - on top of my parents having health insurance they owed an additional fee of $280 for their glasses to get the bifocal line removed. This was on Monday, March 27th. On Wednesday March 29th a Rude, disrespectful "manager" -Update- "her name is Lubna" called my mother to state that the "$100" bill my father gave them was a FAKE... she then went on to say maybe the bank gave it to us!! -update- " Lubna also stated that the other employee doesn't know how to check money" - clearly not trained to be handling clients checking out, why is that our fault and problem?" This office is a SCAM. How can you ever accuse the patient days after their appointment of receiving fake money on top of that my parents not knowing any better told them to check the cameras as if they would be able to see that the fake hundred dollar bill on the camera! that same rude disrespectful manager calls today, Thursday, April 7 to say that she checked the cameras and it was my father that gave them a fake hundred dollar bill!! They are holding my parents eyewear hostage. They are stating that the glasses aren't ready. I have called three places to acquire the process of eyewear. It shouldn't take longer than a week at most especially in office like this that is not busy not reputable, and now that I'm seen the hakim eye center reviews it's very unlikely to be busy enough that they need two weeks to have a pair of lenses made. To involve our family lawyer over $100 dispute with a office that should take responsibility and accountability for their mistake being as they should check their money before taking from the client is beyond excusable. I will be filing a form with the Michigan State and regulations licensing department regarding this matter. This is disgusting and they should not be operational.

Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Robyn Dragoo was very disappointing. The doctor only asked a quick question about whether I had dry eyes and did not provide any medical treatment. However, they used my Social Security number to bill my medical insurance without my permission and then charged me $119. A simple vision exam was changed to a medical visit that I never agreed to. On top of that, the prescription Dr. Dragoo gave me was incorrect. My new glasses cannot see clearly near or far, so now I need to get another exam somewhere else to fix the issue. Overall, the billing felt misleading, my insurance information was handled in a way that made me uncomfortable, and the prescription itself was inaccurate. I would strongly recommend double-checking your billing and prescription if you plan to come here.

The exams were informative and completely pleasant. I know everyone has had the high- pressure eye ware selection experience before, and this office was the exact opposite. I wanted to have an eye care provider in the downriver area since I am often in the area. The…read morereviews for this practice were good and it's in Southgate so I gave it a try. I arrived early for my first visit because when I made my appointment on the phone, they told me they would email me the new patient information forms to fill out. They did not arrive. I ended up waiting an hour to see the eye care provider. When he first met me he seemed very concerned about medications i am on unrelated to my eyes. After my exam I was given trial contact lenses and told I would have to return to finalize their fit, etc. before ordering. I returned the next week to learn the daily lenses they fit me for are $98 per three months per eye. I also was surprised by a fee for the refraction procedure. Insurance apparently doesn't cover this; and they don't explicitly tell you that you can waive the procedure. It is however an option on the initial paperwork to opt out but they didn't bring that to my attention. I came back to be fitted for monthly lenses the next day. I was surprised they could get me back in. They seemed disappointed that I just wanted the contact lens prescription because my previous eye care provider office said they could take my remaining and now obsolete prescription lenses and exchange them for my new prescription. I drove back 30 miles to my previous eye care provider to avoid this practice.
