I have been a loyal customer for years and finally realized that the reason my frames keep on breaking despite me spending 5x more on frames at Henry Ford Optimeyes is because the quality of their frames is very poor. I have spent 1/5th the money with an online retailer on frames and they seem to be a lot more robust. If you want to save money and perhaps not feel bad about your frames coming apart after spending way too much money at this overpriced location, I recommend you to avoid this place at all costs and shop with online retailers. Walked in today to see about making eye appointment and ordering glasses for my teenage son . Walked around an empty showroom looking at frames for over 25 minutes, not 1 single employee and there's roughly 10 working up front approached me to see if I needed help or has questions. I was in a bright orange coat so it's not like they didn't see me I walked around for another couple of minutes then walked out . Do NOT order yur glasses through Henry Ford Optimeyes!!! Waiting 3 weeks and maybe you'll get your glasses is UNACCEPTABLE!! I went into the Grosse Pointe office yesterday and told them if I don't have my glasses by thursday I want a full refund. The manager agreed t that. These offices used to have their own labs but NOT ANTMORE! Every order is sent to ONE lab which is totally incompetent and overwhelmed. I told the manager that if I had been told about this problem I would NEVER have ordered my glasses through them. It's almost like a scam because they have your money. DON'T DO IT! read more

I don't wear glasses but all my kids have them now. This place is kid friendly. Staff here has always been friendly and helpful. They do their best to give you a good deal. I don't feel like they are out to break my check book. I would highly recommend using this place. Oh and if you have kids I would go with the insurance on the frames. I visited this center today for the first time, and was so pleased with the entire staff including the greeter at the door who taken my temperature. I usually go to the center in Westland but their appointments were all booked up so I was given an option of coming here. What a wonderful experience from all! Shout out to Dr. Vocal who was very patience with explaining what was going on with the health of my eyes. Thanks a bunch doctor! Angel and Destiny were two of the nicest people I have encountered in a long time in any medical facility. We know Covid is among us and the two of them just did a great job making the visit just as normal as possible. They both taken the time to apply the extra cleaning where it was required. Destiny thank you for helping me chose the perfect new glasses and I can't wait to come pick them up. I've had my new glasses for over a week now and can't see a thing! I've had to revert Baal to my twenty year old glasses that atE 100% better. I also paid an extra $100 for thin lenses and I got lenses that look like the bottom of Coke bottles. I'm going back tomorrow to DEMAND my money back! Don't wast your money going here! read more

This place is a joke and ran by unprofessional people who make rules as they go along. Nobody seems to know what their doing as far as the staff. Doctors are decent. They won't allow me in the building with my husband for his appointment I understand with the covid they seemed to be over restricting when other places aren't. When I ask them about what's going on with my husband they won't tell me shit! How am I supposed to know about his eye issues when they can't articulate anything when just couple months ago the other girl I spoke to told me what was going on then? Like I said they pick and choose when to follow hippa even though I'm put down as his wife and emergency contact and they can release information to me they still won't. Dr. Voss is as good as it gets when it comes to exceptional care. I was born legally blind in one eye and told by many local doctors in (California) to except my condition. With very careful testing, trial and error and an abundance of patience, both Dr. Wei and Dr. Voss have strengthened my eye to a level I only dreamed of. The flight from California to Michigan will never outweigh what this doctor has done for my vision. I can wear monthly contacts or glasses and live a normal life because Dr. Voss decided to care about my vision on the same level as her own. The staff's attitude matches the atmosphere at this location. I even had the general manager (John) come out and personally help me not because I needed a manager but because it's what he does. I love this place and thank God for a team that does their job beyond measure not because they need to but because it's just the right thing to do! It's convenient, but that's about it. HFO has tried one $$ scam or another almost every time I've been over the last 10 years. I know.... how dumb am I to keep going back? I've learned to call my insurance company myself because HFO repeatedly gives misinformation. Last straw: HFO sends me a bill 6 months after my appt saying my Insurance won't pay for service.... not true. Also, I always get stuck with a staff member that thinks $500 for new glasses is no big deal and huffs when asked to get more frames to try on. read more

Went to the Taylor location looking for new glasses. I already have a valid prescription. After the hand sanitizer and temperature check I was sent to the check in desk(s) where I explained I was just looking for glasses. I was still asked way too many personal questions (DOB, Address, Phone, ect) to just look at glasses. The woman behind the desk was having some trouble with the computer and what I assume was her manager or at least a sr. colleague very rudely came to her rescue. He continued with the questions I again explained I there to only look at frames. He then asked if I had a valid Rx to which I replied yes the then stuck his hand out and said "let me see it." I had had enough at that point and told him this it too much and left. I Would not recommend this place for anything. Its obvious they do not want people with Rx's from other places buying glasses there. read more

Somewhat torn here between good and bad. I think they are somewhat on the expensive side and some of the staff seem clueless. On the other hand I broke my frames and my insurance plan on them expired. The manager was nice enough to let me get a pair of frames at the discounted price anyways as I had never used the replacement plan before it expired. People in the front are useless. Last time I went to Optimeyes was in 2015. After going to a couple of their competitors the last 2 times I needed glasses, I decided to go back to OptimEyes, but I like the frames that I have, so I wanted to ensure that they have my frames. Had some time on my hands in between work appointments, so I stop in. "Hello, Can I see if you have a particular frame available, because if you don't, I can order it online and bring it in for my appointment?".....You have to see the people at the desk..."Ok". Once there they proceed to tell me that I have to see one of their optimologists to look at frames. "I can't just look around to see if you have them?" No. "Can you look on your computer to see if you have them?" No. So I go in the waiting room. And proceeded to wait about 30 minutes JUST TO SEE IF THEY CARRY POLO FRAMES!!! I get up, and go to the desk again, to ask if they could just look up in the computer to see if they carry my frames. "No..we can't do that...you need to see the optimologist. "Just to determine if you have my frames?" Yes, that's right. So I walk out and call them from my car. After being connected to the Taylor shop, they act all Butt hurt that I was unwilling to wait JUST to see if they carry Polo frames. Of which they finally tell me.."No we don't" YOU COULDN'T HAVE TOLD ME THAT WHEN I WAS IN THERE, BUT INSTEAD MADE ME WAIT FOR 30 MINUTES?!?!?!?!! I SHUTTER TO THINK HOW LONG I WOULD HAVE WAITED TO BE TOLD THAT, IF I DIDN'T LOOSE MY PATIENCE AND LEAVE!!! read more

Great experience today at the Taylor location! No attempt at upgrading my purchase. Actually quite the opposite. They budgeted without me asking. I had Dr. Neil Patel this time. He's fairly new and he was so outgoing and explained everything so well. Henry Ford Optimeyes now offers an ultrasound type of test for your eyes and I've never had it done. He very thoroughly showed me exactly what he was viewing and why. Great facility and phenomenal doctor and staff!!!! read more

The place is big and seems terribly unorganized. They also take walk-ins, though when I tried was told it would take "a while" as I would be "squeezed" in. Have had eyes checked but not bought glasses here. Terribly expensive despite " sales " in frames, and insurance and employee discount ( Henry Ford Hospital employee). Very disorganized with "contact lens checks" . You may have an appointment but manage to get lost in the shuffle. They seem to need more eye doctors. Will not go back to this Optimeyes, possibly a different location is more efficient. read more

Worst place ever! First appointment, waited 45 minutes just to get out of the waiting room. No one apologized for the wait - seems to be the norm. TV is waiting room wasn't even turned on. Finally, 2 hours later - walked out with a pair of trial lenses. Call back weeks later to order lenses, told my insurance declined due to contact fitting fee (??? - what). Called insurance company, Insurance company said claim was sent in incorrectly (go figure!) and called the office themselves with a auth (they claimed all the rep from HF needed to do was call and it could have been corrected w/in minutes). Will never go to the place AGAIN - was so hoping to get a survey (phone/mail) I think someone needs to reconsider purchasing matching outfits for everyone and put the money into customer service skills and keeping the office clean! read more

I have had to wear glasses since I was a young child. A few years ago I started coming to Henry Ford Optimeyes at the Downriver location and I could not be happier. Having years of experience at the "Eye Doctor" this place by far has some exceptional customer service. If you are in need of glasses, I highly recommend you request the help of Natasha- she has great style, a friendly disposition and is amazing with young children! Additionally, if you are making an appointment with Dr. Zhang- Danielle (the receptionist) is also very pleasant to work with. Overall a 5 star business. FYI - For those lucky enough to have vision insurance, and for those even luckier to have dual insurance, Henry Ford Optimeyes does not recognize dual insurances. They will take only the primary and/or the provider wherein there are benefits still to be used. Something to think about before you make an appointment. My dependent is still covered under my insurance until he turns 26 and throughout the end of that calendar year plus he has insurance through his employer but he might as well only have one insurance here because they will not apply benefits from both providers. read more
