I want to leave an honest review about our experience with RPM Metro Housing in Detroit, especially…read moreregarding the help we received from Debra Fye. From the very first day we moved in, there were major problems with the house -- none of which were the fault of the management company or Ms. Debra. On move-in day, we discovered that both the heating system and the hot water system had been stolen from the property. We were told this is, unfortunately, something that happens in Detroit. Despite the situation, Ms. Debra moved heaven and earth to make sure we at least had hot water that night, and the heater was replaced shortly afterward. Only two days later, a sudden storm hit, and water started pouring into the house through the foundation -- honestly, everywhere. Once again, Debra stepped in immediately and worked hard to get help to us as quickly as possible. The owner's response was to have dirt piled against the house. As time went on, we discovered even more serious issues with the property itself. If you turn off the basement lights, you can literally see daylight coming through around the rafters. We also found out there was absolutely no insulation in the attic whatsoever. Debra again did everything she could, but unfortunately the property owner did very little to address the larger structural problems. That doesn't even include the kitchen cabinets falling off the walls or the three separate times Roto-Rooter had to come out because of basement drain backups. If you stand in the backyard and look at the roofline, you can clearly see the attic light shining through. This review is not meant to attack the management staff, because Debra Fye consistently tried to help us through every issue we faced. She was responsive, professional, and compassionate during a very difficult living situation. The real problems came from the condition of the property and the lack of action from the owner. We are now moving away from Michigan, and honestly -- good riddance. The final kicker is that we found out the house had burned in the past. Looking back, there is no way this property was ever properly permitted or inspected. The exterior brickwork was literally pulling away from the house, and the interior walls showed major fractures and structural issues. Even from outside, you could see light coming through areas that should have been sealed. I am fully aware of my legal rights regarding the condition of this property and the safety concerns involved. Whether I decide to pursue those rights remains to be seen. Again, I want to make clear that my frustration is not directed at Debra Fye. Throughout everything, she tried to help whenever she could and treated us with professionalism and respect. The real issue was the dangerous condition of the property itself and the owner's lack of responsibility.

It said someone will be contacting me after the application is reviewed. I waited 2 days until I called the office. First their was no answer. Second I guess the secretary answered and transferred me to the lady who is over that property. Went to voicemail I left a message and never got a call back. Almost a week later and still haven't heard from them. And I had my realtor call them too and she never got an answer. I guess I'm out of $63 I gave them 2 stars because the property was very nice and clean. But them getting over with the $63 NOT COOL!

The only issue I had was my neighbor smoked. I am not a smoker so that really bothered me and I decided to move. I originally was interested in the Birmingham townhomes but there were no vacancies. The loft apartment is what attracted me to the TreeTops in Northville but I chose a 1 bdrm w/ a den instead. I enjoyed my apartment, the wildlife and I had a nice view of the river stream that passed behind the property. Would I return? Yes!
