If you need orthopedic care, joints, spine, etc. This is the best. I love Dr. Dorencamp, Dr. Noud, Dr. Ruhland. And if another of my body parts fail, I'll reach out to another specialist there. Also, I found the office to be professional, caring, and prompt in calling me back when I had a problem or concern. I reached out to this orthopedic doctor for a very simple request: I already had a VA diagnosis of tendinosis in my right ankle, and all I needed was for the doctor to review an Independent Medical Opinion letter and state whether he agreed with it based on his medical expertise. This is a common, straightforward step for veterans working through the VA disability process. Unfortunately, my experience with the office was extremely disappointing. The front desk staff spoke to me in a rude and dismissive tone from the beginning. I explained multiple times that I did not need another diagnosis--I already had one from the VA--and only needed a medical agreement or disagreement with the IMO. The secretary insisted the doctor "wouldn't do anything unless he could bill the VA and give his own diagnosis," completely ignoring what I actually needed and showing no willingness to help. Veterans already face enough hurdles in the disability process. Finding a doctor who is willing to provide a simple professional opinion shouldn't be this difficult. The lack of courtesy and the refusal to assist unless they could bill for additional services was unprofessional and disheartening. I would not recommend this office to any veteran needing support with VA-related documentation or respectful, patient-centered care. read more

Doctor wanted me scheduled for surgery and I have to work around coordinating it to be able to care for my disabled mother. Jamie, who does the scheduling was absolutely completely worthless, unwilling to help or answer questions literally hung up on me when I explained I needed to ask some questions about timing because I had to bring some people in during recovery. Ended up going to an entirely different doctor for a very expensive surgery so she's costing her drs business and credibility read more

The surgeons in this practice may be very good, but the ones I have encountered place no value on treating you as a person. Several are DO's but apparently didn't buy into the osteopathic fundamental value of treating patients as the "whole person". From the moment you call for an appointment, you are treated with no regard for your situation and needs. This practice apparently feels that since they are often the only game in town we should consider ourselves lucky if they decide to treat us. Despite having had a hip replacement there in 2015, when I fell in 2022 and had two compound fractures in my arm and a torn rotator cuff needing immediate surgery and the ER physician communicating directly with a surgeon from this practice who was on-call with the hospital about my needs, he was told to put me in a hard cast from the shoulder to my fingers tips and have me call the office the next morning for an appointment. After several very frustrating phone calls starting when the office opened trying to talk with someone on their "triage team", I finally actually spoke with someone at the end of the day who was rude and totally unhelpful and unsympathetic. I was told that the earliest appointment available was in two weeks. When I asked if this person had spoken with the physician that the ER doc had spoken to about my situation the day before, I was told it wasn't necessary because the triage team made the decisions about who would be seen. I ended up getting my care from the director of the hand surgery clinic at the Univ of MI health care system in Ann Arbor within two days of my call. Three years later, this past Saturday I had a fall and broke my foot which also is compound and needs assessment and treatment by a surgeon. Urgent Care referred me to one who I was directed to call on Monday morning. I was put in an air boot up to my knee and given crutches. When I called, I learned that the surgeon I was referred to has retired. My only option for an orthopedic surgeon was to call here again. It is unbelievable to me that absolutely nothing has changed in 3 years. Despite having called yesterday morning (took 3 attempts at transfer from the main number to the "triage team" using their automated system confusingly calling themselves the "medication renewal request" line, I was able to leave a message describing my situation and need and contact number as they directed, no one called me back. I tried again at 4:30 pm: this time it only took two transfer attempts to be able to leave a message. I identified myself and asked again to please contact me before the office closed at 5 pm. It is now 12:30 pm on the following day and I still have not received a return call. I now have an appointment with a surgeon in Ann Arbor for tomorrow afternoon: extremely helpful staff who understood the need for me to see a surgeon asap. I now will tell everyone when the subject comes up my story about Michigan Orthopedic Center and strenuously advise they avoid this practice like the plague despite the surgical skills of their staff: There is much more to good and appropriate health care than these folks understand or have an interest in providing. read more

Not a fan of this office at all! Unfortunately, my orthopedic doctor has retired and I had to come here. I have been seen by 2 doctors for knee pain for all of about 15min total. Scheduling was terrible for a "first time" patient, I never felt taken seriously when being evaluated, and now there is no online payment option when attempting to cover my bill. Multiple visits, no solution, plenty of wasted time. read more

I wasted an hour of my morning today because nobody bothered to check whether it was in or not. They should have done and shuld have called me to to tell me that my appointment this morning and the next three Monday mornings would need to be cancelled. When will this be straightened out and my appointments re-schedule? Who knows? But I have strong doubts now about the efficiency of this office. read more

YELP McLaren is a well organized and finely tuned facility for Orthopedic surgery. My surgeon was Dr. Charles J. Taunt. He performed a magnificent total left knee replacement for me. All the nurses, and even the Dietician, were very patient-focused and caring. If considering a knee transplant, I encourage you to see Dr. Taunt for an opinion and/or the replacement surgery. read more

I was referred by Mclaren after fracturing my ankle to this office. I called to get my appt and when the phone was answered I stated my name and told the young man i had broke my ankle and before I could even give anymore info I was cut off and was told this" I am gonna stop you right there! Here is how things work at this office. I'm gonna transfer u. You will leave your name, dates of injury and we will get your records. Then one of our drs will call you back when if they feel they need to see you. (He was very very cocky with his words and hateful sounding.)Again, you (he repeated himself again and very rudely). I will not go to any one who i am suppose to trust with my body and ask them to help me get better when I am treated terrible from the get go. So I hope he learns or is trained to speak to new and old patients a little better. Not that this office would care but he did cause me to chose another dr and that is sad. Being told from the Er what good dr s this office has then to be greeted like that. No! not for me.I my only be 1 patient and that may not be a big deal. However, you keep that young man answering phones for you and I promise several patients will be looking to other drs. I was so upset I even left my voicemail and stated he was rude. When I got a call back the lady who called me back wasn't much better. I'm happy I found another dr who has a professional office staff. Very disappointed with this medical office. I have contacted my insurance company and let them know how I was spoken to as well. The VA wants the best for their Veteran's, spouses and families. This is not the best! read more

I need additional physical therapy, that has been authorized by my health insurance, and even though my physical therapist has 3 times sent them a form to authorize 6 more therapy sessions, this place has totally ignored the requests. I had a total knee replacement done nearly 10 years ago by Dr. Mesko. The procedure went well and recovery, with physical therapy, was difficult, as you might expect, but not impossible. I felt things were thoroughly discussed before hand, so I knew what to expect. My knee has been functioning well for the years since I had the surgery. I do get some muscular aching in my leg, but that is probably more my fault for not doing enough exercising. I would, and have, recommended Dr. Mesko to others. read more

After breaking my shoulder in an accident I was treated by Dr. Noud. The office is professional and efficient. I visited three times and there was very little wait. The office staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Noud was able to quickly and accurately diagnose my injury. He helped control the pain right away. With a mixture of immobilization, then physical therapy my shoulder is quickly healing. Total confidence in my doctor. I hope I don't get hurt again, but if I do I will definitely return to Michigan Orthopedic Center and Dr. Noud. What a great experience! read more

I cannot speak for anyone else here but Dr. Jason Cochran is a fucking nightmare. I broke my leg four years ago and have had ongoing pain and three surgeries since then. My latest problem is that I have sharp pains in two spots inside the bone and aching pain in my ankle. I can't run and can't walk more than a few blocks without pain and limping. I decided to see Dr. Cochran based on the recommendations of my physical therapist and a nurse. I had high hopes as I had waited three months for the appointment and he came with such high reviews. However, I literally have never encountered a more dismissive individual. I say that after having been treated by four other orthopedic surgeons over the years, none of whom were particularly personable. He spent maybe 5 minutes with me (after being told I needed to reserve three hours open for the appointment) and told me, I quote, "My brother in law broke his tibia a while ago and he has the same kind of pain as you and you just have to deal with it." OSs are not always the best people to see when your issue is re: pain management, but after a problematic bone scan my doctor had determined that a surgeon needed to check me out. Another great quote from Dr. Cochran: "So you're here because you just have a little pain sometimes that you don't want to deal with?" No, I'm here because I literally cannot walk more than three blocks sometimes without limping and have not been able to run in over a year. His response: "Have you tried biking?" He also criticized my shoes: "Is that what you normally wear?" and I said, "Yes" and asked him if he had any recommendations about what shoes I should wear. He told me to go to Playmakers. Yes, I own and wear sneakers, but I'm sorry, we can't all wear dirty ass running shoes to work. I also did buy shoes from Playmakers last year which I had to return because they were so painful, and I told the dude this and he just stared at me like a glazed over bullfrog. Nice work. At the end of the visit he told me I didn't need surgery and then went back to the bullfrog gaze. I said, "So what do you recommend?" and he says "Therapy, I guess" then returns to bullfrog mode. "Oh," I said. "Do you have any therapists you recommend?" He asked me where I live, then bullfrogged for a while, then provided a recommendation to a therapist which is in no way even remotely close to my home. I was then told to "check out with the girls up front" who informed me that I was not scheduled to come back but that I could call if I have any questions. My guess is this is a great person to see if you have bones protruding from your skin but if your problems are any more nuanced than just basic broken bones then you are going to want to visit someone other than this guy. read more

I was referred Mich ortho by MSU medical because of the expertise of Dr Swords with ankle problem. Everyone else had no hope for improvement in mobility, he was very positive and encouraging. My life has been so improved by his intervention, his PA is excellent as well. A great office full of compitent and caring perfesionals. I will never find out how good or bad the doctors are at Michigan Orthopedic Center. I was referred for an appointment. When I got the paperwork, I saw the phrase, NEW PATIENTS: EXPECT A MINIMUM 2-3 HOUR VISIT. I called the office to ask why the visit would be so long. The response was, "It depends on how many people are in front of you." When I clarified and asked, "Do you mean that is how long I could be there waiting?" I was told, "It depends on how many people have been scheduled." I am not taking that kind of time of work to cool my heels in a waiting room! How unprofessional! read more
