This is a common, straightforward step for veterans working through the VA disability process. Unfortunately, my experience with the office was extremely disappointing. The front desk staff spoke to me in a rude and dismissive tone from the beginning. I explained multiple times that I did not need another diagnosis--I already had one from the VA--and only needed a medical agreement or disagreement with the IMO. The secretary insisted the doctor "wouldn't do anything unless he could bill the VA and give his own diagnosis," completely ignoring what I actually needed and showing no willingness to help. Veterans already face enough hurdles in the disability process. Finding a doctor who is willing to provide a simple professional opinion shouldn't be this difficult. The lack of courtesy and the refusal to assist unless they could bill for additional services was unprofessional and disheartening. I would not recommend this office to any veteran needing support with VA-related documentation or respectful, patient-centered care.

Took lots of time with me to listen and understand my problems, did X-rays, reviewed all my medical documentation, determined that the cause of my pain is the IM rod in my tibia, was able to give me a detailed and logical explanation for why he could not do surgery to remove the rod, and gave me suggestions for how to manage the pain given that surgery was not an option. Night and day experience. If you need an OS in Lansing, I highly recommend Dr. Waterbrook.

We have talked to others in the area who have had similar experiences. There are lots of competent orthopedic surgeons in the area. Do not waste your time with this guy. I would like to say the unprofessionalism is confined to Drayer but when I contacted the office with a billing question, the billing manager Amy promised a call back and we have yet to hear from her (over 30 days now). She was screaming bloody murder because he was cutting all the way through the cast and into her skin with the saw. She was cut by the blade 10 times. The cuts are 0.5 to 2.5 inches long and several are quite deep. My daughter is now terrified of doctors and I can't even sleep at night knowing I took her there.

He truly listens to understand what's going on, he's just what you need. Some days that's a drill sergeant to give you a kick in the behind, some days it's a cheerleader, some a coach, some a friend/supporter. He truly cares about patients and is so accepting of all the diverse people he sees. You can see his connection in the clinic, not only with yourself, but with others. I'm on the road to improvement - I'm not 100% yet, but for the first time in 7 years, I see a light at the end of the tunnel. I appreciate the different approaches (Exercise, Stretching, Cupping, Electric stim, Heat, Massage, Trigger point release, blading) to get the results I need. The clinic is clean, easily accessible, appointment scheduling is easy - overall, I couldn't be happier.
