Good for the price you pay, you can't beat getting two parks for the price. Just know when you get in there and your kids want food ,drinks, souvenirs, playing games, etc. you'll end up spending a lot. They do have souvenir cups you can purchase for the day which allows you to refill your cup all day in 15 min intervals or you can get the season cups. Overall the rides are fun, when they're not closed. If you're one of those who don't like to wait for rides, get the fast pass. It wouldn't be worth it tho for littler kids that can't ride the coasters. read more

I have a few friends that are theme park enthusiast and every time we talk about theme parks this park always gets mentioned. People always rank this park at the bottom of their list when it's comes to US theme parks. My husband and I went to Grand Rapids for Labor Day weekend and this was high on our list of things to do. Our first impression was the park was on the smaller side. The layout is basically a circle so you can easily get from point A to point B. They do have a good amount of thrill rides but the waits were long. The loading process felt like it was longer than normal. There is not a lot of options for food and what we could find was your basic theme park food. It's fine but not anything extraordinary. It's a theme park so it can be expensive but I felt like what we paid for wasn't worth what we got out of the park. We are glad that we came and gave Michigan's Adventure a try but I see why it's on the bottom of many enthusiasts lists read more

This was our first time visiting, and we had a great time! The classic wooden coasters are absolutely fantastic, staff is friendly, and the park is pristine. The water park is included in admission, and is one of the better water parks I've visited. 10/10! We will absolutely be back! read more

Mid-chigan's Adventure Long a running joke for being the redheaded stepchild of the Cedar Fair chain and deliberately neglected so as not to compete with their crown jewel Cedar Point, it doesn't look like things will get any better for Michigan's Adventure any time soon. Cedar Fair has completed a merger with Six Flags and I'm sure they don't want this western Michigan park drawing people away from Six Flags Great America just north of Chicago either. Michigan's Adventure is a sleepy local park once owned by local folks with the grace to give it the phenomenal and thrilling wooden coaster Shivering Timbers, the only reason to go too far out of your way to visit what sadly is Michigan's only tried and true amusement park. You got an old Arrow Corkscrew clone, which with only two loops instead of three is over in a flash, a basic Wild Mouse (yawn), an inverted coaster that's not terrible but nothing to write home about either and Wolverine Wildcat, another woodie that wasn't anywhere near as rough as I feared but paled in comparison to the mighty Shivering Timbers. I almost wished they hadn't done a bunch of track work on WW so I could fantasize about an RMC conversion even though the corporate overlords aren't spending any cash on this park beyond maybe beefing up the water park some more. They're at least doing a good job maintaining what coasters they have but don't hold your breath for anything new. MA still makes money and they just wanna milk this cash cow. I'm glad I wore my swimming trunks. You really need to get some water sliding on to get a full day's fun at this park even with its brief 11-8 July weekday hours. There was more people in the water park than the dry park! I only went on 3 slides for my $15 locker investment but my first water park visit in a dog's age was a fun diversion from mid coasters. Honestly without the water park being included in standard admission and maybe a little home state bias I'd probably slap MA with 2 stars. One killer coaster only counts for so much. They don't even have any large scale flat rides here. Nothing to take in a scenic overview of the park with its pretty pond. I rode the swing ride a few feet above the midway and thought about how glorious a towering version would be. Or a drop tower. Or a giant swinging, spinning disc like MaxAir at Cedar Point. Speaking of Cedar Point I saw a bunch of people rocking CP gear. Us Michiganders might have issues with Ohio but we know where the real world class park is. The chicken in my garden salad at the Coasters cafe was nasty. Only one speaker worked on the Thunderbolt ride. I'm used to that ride being named Himalaya and blasting rock music for the duration of the ride, not just for a quarter of it when you pass by the one speaker on this weak mono version. The opp is supposed to hype you up, asking if you wanna ride a bit longer, too, not cut the ride super short like he did here. Meth heads at traveling carnivals get this right; why can't MA? Two coasters were running one train as well and opps were painfully slow. It's so abundantly clear ownership dgaf about poor MA! Even the river rapids ride, the cleverly named Grand Rapids has one lonely waterfall! Lame! Adventure Falls provided a good soaking but I almost missed the entrance as foliage nearly blocked the sign from the midway. Speaking of the midway the horseshoe shape of the park that could easily be completed into a complete circuit is bafflingly idiotic. I don't mind walking but even that is a big FU to the clientele. I'm sure there's kids from around here who grew up with this park who think it's the bee's knees and there's a handful of good things about it, mainly Shivering Timbers, but the sheer amount of wasted potential here is very frustrating. First world problems, sure, but do better, company that's worth $2.66 billion! read more

So yes it's the red headed stepchild of cedar point. So they went to a cashless system and then their computers didn't work so they told me I had to purchase my ticket online. Surprise surprise there's a $2 processing fee. Then the computer wouldn't scan the parking pass. This place is a joke. It has 5 small Roller coasters. Been going to Michigan adventure since I was kid and it's old reliable for me. You get a waterpark and amusement park for one price (I believe I paid $44 a person the day I went through the internet). The waterpark is big with multiple sections, about 6-10 water slides (probably more), wave pools, lazy rivers and so much more. To me the waterpark is worth the price of admission alone. The amusement park portion is a decent size with about 6-8 roller coasters and 1-2 dozen other rides. I think on a slow day you could get through the amusement park portion in like 3-4 hours. Fun times if your on a budget and live in the state (I wouldn't do a trip here from like down south but yeah). Food here is more along the lines of carnival food and yeah always a time here. read more

We went again! 8/4/23, Friday- 85 degrees and sunny. They open at 11am and we arrived about 11:30. Easy to park and get in. You should 100% buy tickets and parking ahead of time online. Save a few $$ and quicker. We did not do the water park. But the longest we waited for anything was 20 min and that was mad mouse- which I still think is the most fun-scary ride and super bonus it's right next to the awesome petting zoo. The refillable drink cup is 18.99 but we bought 2 ( for 5 of us) and refilled for free all day. Just like last year, we had a great time, prices are in line with what I would expect for an amusement park, and we will do it again next year! I will say, we had the app which showed wait times and we did not find it to be totally accurate. Maybe give or take 10 min either way. TIP! Get the sno cone- only $5 and huge! read more

Lessons learned from my first visit. Parking is $25. And there isn't any alternatives. There are signs everywhere stating "no outside food", but thanks to other reviews, we were prepared with packed lunches, drinks and snacks. The parking lot isn't too big to prevent trips to the car. They search your bags upon entrance, but I think it is more security of guns and knives, than bringing in outside food. The restaurants, drink stands and mini food locations are very expensive. Slice of pizza around $15, Elephant ears also $15. Drinks are $6 and buying the refillable cups for a lot of money, are awkward to take on rides. Not all rides have a place to leave your bags, hats, and glasses. The Waterpark has shorter hours than amusement park. The least desirable thing is you have to carry up the heavy inner tube a very long way, up lots of steps to top of slides. Something kids, and adults, have difficulty carrying. Make sure you download the park's app where you can lookup Wai times for rides. We made the mistake of waiting in line at the roller coaster at the front of park, Mad Mouse. We waited over 90 minutes...the ride always has the longest wait, and in my opinion, not worth it. The water rides were all great, but you can watch the wait times to find shorter or no wait times. Adventure Falls and Grand Rapids you will get soaked...advise to do these with your Waterpark suits, with cover ups and water shoes. The small lockers are $10/day and you can unlock/lock multiple times as you change from clothes to get wet with and other to stay dry. You cannot ride rides in just bathing suits. I was last here over 25 years ago. I come in with nostalgia and from what feels like a new place because it had been so long. Heads up that if you buy tickets the same day online that they are about $4/$5 less the day before so if you plan and buy ahead you can save some money on admission. We did pay for the fast passes, which we appreciated but not sure if we needed it on this particular Wednesday. The parking lot might have been slightly less than half full. The park is still pretty clean. The food options are limited when it comes to variety. There are just mainly burgers, chicken tenders, pizza, salad, fries, hot dogs, fruit, and ice cream. It was a hot summer day so I think more people may have been drawn to the water park as opposed to getting on all the rides like us. Corkscrew ride feels like 30 seconds whereas I feel like they should have 2 laps to make it more worthwhile. Best coaster hands down here is Shivering Timbers! We went on it 3 times. It's non stop action there is no time where you are going to feel idle in anticipation. I would go back again and recommend for anyone that likes roller coasters. read more

I took my daughter here. Was the worst experience ever. She left disappointed and i left frustrated and angry. They have so many stupid rules. I will give examples. We are used to waterparks in Wisconsin Dells with pretty much no restrictions but we were traveling in michigan and it was a beautiful day so i took my daughter while my wife went shopping in nearby towns. Fortunately she hadn't left immediately because we got to the entrance and the first rule was you have to be wearing street clothes to come in. My daughter was about 10 and was wearing a one piece swimsuit. So we went back to car to get clothes over her suit. Ok we got in. First ride was similar to noahs ark in Wisconsin Dells where you ride a big car with lots of people. It climbs up circles around and then zooms down into pool of water. Finally get to ride cause line was long. Oh you can't go on without shoes or watersocks. WTF. Went to their store. Got watersocks for daughter and myself. Back to ride. Rode it. Got off. At Noahs Ark in Dells you cross a bridge and as next car is coming down and hits water you get blasted on bridge. Same setup at Michigans Adventure but not allowed to stand on bridge and get hit by wave. Moving on we go on next ride no problems. Then my daughter sees these paddleboat swans. She wants to ride. So we wait in line. Get to front. She can't ride like that. "Like what" i said. Attendant says she can't ride it in swimsuit. I was like WHAT? Its a germ thing. So we went back and i changed her into street clothes and she went on swan paddleboat. Back to change again and on to more rides. More rules more BS. Frankly Michigan's Adventure has taken all the fun out of this place. There are more stories i could tell but frankly we were glad to leave this nightmare park. If you want water adventures come to Wisconsin Dells where there are many waterparks and very few stupid rules. We actually know how to have fun in Wisconsin. Michigans Adventure will leave you frustrated and feeling like you threw your money away. read more

Cedar Point it is not but it's a nice break from the craziness of life. If you buy a season pass in August, it's good for the entire next season as well, and tickets are so pricy that if you plan to go more than once or twice, the season pass (that also comes with free parking) is definitely worth it. read more

After coming here for many years it's probably time that I left a review of good ole Michigan Adventures! In terms of price, it's fairly cheap to get in. I believe it's $35 online and only three more dollars at the gate, but that's exactly where your savings end as everything else else is overpriced( food, parking, lockers, god forbid you forgot sunscreen). However there's honestly no point in complaining about prices at an amusement park because just about all amusement parks are over priced in a sense so you should know what you're getting yourself into. Now I may be generous with my 3 stars but if you ask me, they should change the name to "Michigan Adventure Water Park" and close the amusement park rides. These have got to be the worst rides in America. The two wooden rides may leave you sore and needing a chiropractor and the metal rides are severely disappointing. That's why for the last 10+ years anytime I go I only go to the water park. I can't say enough really from the Lazy River, Mammoth River, Funnel of Fear, waterslides, serval wave pools and more! You'll have such a blast. I'd go as far as to say Michigan Adventures might have one of the best water parks in the US. I gave this place a 4 star because my kids had a blast. That being said, here are our positives and negatives. There were 5 of us. 2 adults, 9, 3 and 3. Sadly the 3 year olds were just as much as the adults but that's ok. We bought 4 two day tickets and one season pass. It was cheaper to buy the season pass then pay the $25 a day for parking. I should've bought 2 season passes. We bought one refillable cup each day. The first day my son got the band so they could throw their cups away between rides. The second day we got the plastic cup to refill. If we would've bought the plastic cup first and used it the second day it would have been $6 a refill. Which tells you how much it was for regular price. We probably should've gotten the season cup but my son didn't want to carry it on the coasters. Positives: - it's a small park and great for younger kids. We have a nine year old and 3 year old. The 9 year old loved all the coasters. Although he said several were rough. Even my husband said they were tougher than the last time we came a few years ago. - lots of rides for the little kids. The 3 year olds LOVED all the rides and I loved that we could do a few bigger ones as long as we were with them. A great variety for them. - refillable water stations. At any of the food places as well as at the bathrooms they had refillable water stations. SO handy on these hot days. - you get a lot of food. I'll talk about the price in a min but you get a lot of food. We ordered chicken strips and it came with 5 huge strips and a ton of fries. We never finished all of our fries. We pre bought a meal for the day. We got 4 of them. We ended up eating at the water park and got chicken nuggets and 2 chef salads. Again, it was a lot of food and I'm pretty sure it was the only veggie in the park! - Our second day was at the water park. We read to get there early to get a seat. We did and got a few seats in the spray park area. It worked for us! We were in the shade. My husband and son rode the big rides while the littles loved the little slides available to them. There were even a few medium, faster slides they could try and lots of spray water and sprinklers. - the lazy River was super fun. The same with the wave pool! - friendly staff Negatives - the staff was HOT. I talked to a few of them and they said the staff in camp snoopy get fans but they didn't. I think these kids need a fan too! Again, it's hot. - the food prices are no joke. A whole pizza was $56. I'm not even joking. If you order a meal it's 16.99. It comes with 2 slices and a breadstick. That's insane. We pre-ordered on the app which everyone should because you at least get a free drink. You will have to tell them though because they don't know that. Also while we were there they were out of hotdogs. Like NO hotdogs in the entire park. The menu also stated they had mini corn dogs but they didn't. It wasn't even on the real menu. I waited for over an hour in line to get my salad and chicken tenders. It was ridiculous. They are for sure making money on the food. Seriously, Disney is cheaper. - although renting a stroller was $20, it was nice to have one. The double stroller had a top but not anywhere to put a bag. I just plopped it on top but it wasn't the best solution. They also rent wagons but no top. All in all it's a great place to spend the day. Next year we will get the season passes because even if we go twice it will be worth it. You get free parking and discounts on food and merch which at this place it adds up quickly. - read more

I was a little skeptical after reading the reviews but I am glad we decided to visit the park. My family of 4 kids and 3 adults went on a Tuesday around noon. We did a little research and decided to do the water park first. We got great seats right in front of the wave pool. These are the things that made our visit easy: 1. Felt safe, lots of lifeguards and height restrictions for rides. 2. Most workers were very friendly and helpful 3. Clean bathrooms with enough supplies 4. Literally no lines at any of the rides 5. Easy reentry 6. Vortex water ride was epic! The park could have used the following to help us more: 1. Signs - to and from rides, maps, restrooms, eating, etc. needed more help getting around. It's not large by any means but if your new to the park it takes some navigation. 2. Prices are steep. Chicken tenders with fries and 1 slushie was $22. Ouch. 3. Get an elevator/ lift system for those massive floats! It was a struggle to carry them up several flights and we saw one family fall. Overall a very fun way to spend the day in Muskegon. After days of sand dunes and beaches it was a nice change. read more

It has been easily thirty years since I visited Michigan's Adventure as a kid with the Girl Scouts. I liked it then and I love it even more now as a parent. The expense of the park is well worth the entrance price. We went early June, just days after the water park had opened and before many schools were out for summer. The breeze keeps it a little cooler, so I do recommend wearing more layers than what you might want for Cedar Point. We opted to pay the extra money for the "all you can eat" meal plan. The food was fresh and generous, but it was a bit confusing which food stands would service us, because we were not on the "premium" plan. I'm not sure I would do this plan again for me or my vegetarian husband, but for my hungry (active) son it probably would be a good idea. The band was convenient. The one never-ending drink cup was all our family of three needed throughout the day. Beware that many food stands did run out of ketchup (hello, a million kids) and frequently the soda machines did dispense the wrong pop (code red rather than root beer and water instead of lemonade). just check the flavor before fully filling the cup. The water park was amazing. The water is very cold (better for later in summer), but the thrills were worth it (Funnel of Fear and Snake Pit Falls were awesome). Next time I will skip the "wedgie slides" for more time with other tube slides. The amusement park was fantastic and the lines on Sunday went fast. I'm glad we didn't splurge on fast passes because our son wasn't ready for big coasters yet and the traffic was pretty light (so early in the season). This place was fabulous and our five-year-old got a full eight hours of enjoyment out of it. There were a few rides that were not running, but we were fully satisfied with our experience. Great amusement park for young children! We have two kids, ages 5 & 2. I couldn't believe how many great kiddie rides this place has. My kids had a blast. We were there on a Sunday (it was Father's Day) and I'm not sure what a typical day is crowd-wise but the amusement park was not busy at all. (However, The separate water park was very busy & crowded) We did not wait in any lines at the amusement park, which was wonderful since 2 year olds don't wait :) my kids could basically point at a ride they wanted to do and walk right on, they rode multiple things many times. The staff running the kid rides were all nice. One girl (I believe her name was Kate) working at the scrambler heard my daughter crying that the seat was burning her legs (the sun really heated up those dark metal seats!) and offered her own sweater for my daughter to sit on, so nice!! We did not spend much time at the water park. It was very busy and crowded and we found it overwhelming. I'm not personally a fan of water parks so that's just a personal preference. They definitely have a lot to do there though. read more

DOG & MITTEN That's what I think of when I see the great state of Michigan on a map. What does that have to do with the largest/only amusement park in MI? Nothing. But I couldn't wrangle up a better tagline (and it's vastly better than 'puppy & glove') so it's gonna stay. I needed to get away for the weekend and hit up some new roller coasters. Cuz y'know, that's kinda my thing. So I made the 3.5 hour drive to Muskegon and arrived early evening on 8/27/16. A parking attendant cheerfully greeted me and I put my car in a spot near the entrance. With a Cedar Fair platinum pass in hand, I wasted no time in gaining entry to the park and hitting up rides. Crowds were light, which enabled me to get on everything I wanted to multiple times. Eventually I got thirsty and located 1 of 2 alcohol gardens on the grounds. Beer was $8 for a locally brewed IPA and there were several choices both on tap and in aluminum pints. The one I went to used the bottom-up filling method, which I'd only seen once before at Minute Maid Park (home of the Astros) in Houston. Basically, it uses a magnetic seal to keep the beer contained and gives a perfect amount of foam. Nifty! I did a few laps around the park, getting on all the major coasters and the log flume. But I quickly discovered that MichAdv is not laid out very well. Getting to the back of the park by Thunderhawk is a 1-way trip, which makes no sense at all. The pedestrian path doesn't connect/complete a full circuit, so instead of being the optimal 'O' shape MichAdv winds up being a large 'C'. Dumb and counterproductive. The circular rapids ride had an unbearably slow boarding process and an even slower raft release mechanism (poor design). It was painful to watch. I could've carried those damn rafts out of the station faster. Staff and park personnel were a mixed bag. Some were friendly and smiled ("have a great day!") while others were disgruntled. A few were most definitely sleepwalking zombies. On day #2 (8/28/16), I attempted to redeem my all-season souvenir bottle that was swept away during a tempest at Cedar Point a few months ago. It didn't bother me that guest service couldn't reimburse me... ...what DID bother me is that they sent me on a wild ass goose chase to no fewer than 3 different places and each one got my hopes up. Each person said, in turn, "go here and they'll be able to help you." Well not a single person was able to do anything, so all that back-and-forth just sucked up an hour of my day. Like seriously, that was a total d*ck move on their part, and it cost them a full star. I was ready to give them a solid 4* because I genuinely enjoyed my time spent here, but all that unnecessary running around pissed me off. Tip for the future: don't do that to a platinum passholder, fellas. Or a Yelp Elite (especially not a Brand Ambassador, awww sh*t yeah I just went there) Elsewhere, they weren't able to process my season pass for a food/beverage discount because the worker doing the card sliding was just plain inept. A small slice of pepperoni pizza + 1 bosco stick + fountain drink came to $12, far too much for a smaller park like this. However, I did see Bill Paxton's redneck doppelganger buying a chili dog. So that was interesting. Bread = 3.5 Circuses = 2.5 I just now realize that MichAdv has no drop tower ride. As a matter of fact, they have nothing standing over 122ft tall, which makes me think there's a height limit imposed by local ordinances. This would explain their cancellation of plans in 1999 to construct a giant hypercoaster similar to Steel Force and Mamba at sister Cedar Fair parks. Also, they haven't added a new major ride since 2008. Thunderhawk was the last significant addition and even THAT was a hand-me-down from the now defunct Geauga Lake. Truth be told, the overall lineup of roller coasters at MichAdv is pretty unimpressive. Shivering Timbers is the only truly worthwhile coaster. But it IS worthwhile. ______ TL;DR MichAdv needs to step up their guest service. If I'm S.O.L. and my all-season bottle is lost forever, just tell me so. Don't send me all over the place and please don't waste my time. If I wanted to get jerked all over by someone, I would've stayed at home and played with myself. Harsh criticisms aside, I am actually glad I visited. I got to boost my review count by 10 on this trip to Muskegon and generally speaking I had a pleasant time. It was just what I needed after a very difficult past few weeks. ...but this was the 4th Cedar Fair park I've gone to in 2016 and it was the weakest by comparison. Rides were smaller in stature and the park size wasn't big. Flow was an issue (the dead end by T-Hawk is unbelievably stupid planning on their part). Perhaps I'd have more love for MichAdv if I was a local, but as a theme park aficionado and hardcore roller coaster buff, this place just does not stack up to the competition. FYI, Sandusky Ohio is only ~4hrs away. Just sayin'. read more

Michigan's Adventure was a really fun small Cedar Fair Park. I really enjoyed my time here, despite all of the rides running on one train, there was a shortage of parts so I can let it slide. I did love this park. The management was really good, the food was really good, and despite not being the best Cedar Fair Park, it was still a really fun experience! read more
